Losing weight.. what are you looking forward to most?

Was thinking this through over the last few days and I was think gosh I can’t wait until I can sit with my legs crossed easily or not feel so much underarm fat when shaving!

Sounds simple but was it was inspiring me to keep going and I thought maybe there’s other things we can look forward to other than the fitting into clothes/ feeling more positive about how we look.

Help inspire me ! what are you looking forward to being able to do or feel?
or for those further long with your progress what have been the surprising benefits you’ve noticed?

I can sit with my legs crossed TWICE!!!

My favourite part of weight loss, though, is not constantly thinking about how fat I am. Or what people think about how fat I am. Or that being fat makes people not take me seriously at work. And constantly daydreaming about how nice it would be to not be fat.

I have my annual blood test next month and I'm really looking forward to seeing lower numbers for cholesterol, blood glucose and liver function.

StartingApril2025 · 28/05/2025 13:36

@ANutAsBigAsABoulder yes I hear your about the legs! Mine are currently very large and I look back at slim days from pre kids and think flip I once had actual normal sized legs. So looking forward to return to that!
@Galadali yes also looking forward to a ( hopeful) reduction in cholesterol!!! Mine is off the charts which is a worry and was a surprise.

I am most looking forward to:

-Not being the biggest person in every room

-Fitting in chairs and not being scared of them

-Walking more than 5 mins without being out of breath

-Not being obsessed with food

Everdecreasingcircle · 31/05/2025 14:28

There is so much more water in my bath 🛁
No seat belt extender on the plane ✈️
Can ride a horse 🐴 again.
Can buy clothes in normal shops again.
That’s what losing 120 lbs in a year on MJ does.
Really life changing.

Gazelda · 31/05/2025 14:41

Being able to buy knee high boots without having to take whatever style I can find that does wide-calf. I’ve finally reached that point, 4.5st lighter, and it’s a fantastic feeling. The boots I’ve been wearing for years now keep falling down!

HansHolbein · 31/05/2025 14:52

I’ve lost 93.7lbs, have 7lbs to goal now.

What has been amazing is that I can now buy whatever clothes I want and genuinely like, not because I have to as they will be the only thing that fit.

Walking into any shop or online and choosing size 8/10 is something I could have only dreamed of.

I also didn’t realise the prison I was living in. Hiding away, saying no to things, missing out on all sorts of opportunities. I can be myself and know that nobody is judging me. Food doesn’t rule my life. I’m free!

MounjaroMounjaro · 31/05/2025 14:55

One thing I absolutely love is buying something to wear and if it's a bit tight thinking, "Oh well, it'll fit me soon" and knowing that to be true. In the past that would have put me into a tailspin and I would have had no hope of ever getting into the clothes or out of depression.

MyJoyousKoala · 31/05/2025 15:01

I was looking forward to my knickers no longer rolling down at the front ever time I moved! 3.5 stone down and not only do they no longer roll down, but I’ve had to buy them 2 sizes smaller!

SharpOpalNewt · 31/05/2025 15:08

Thoroughly enjoying myself already. All my summer clothes fit properly and look so much better.

fresh99 · 31/05/2025 15:11

One of the things I was most looking forward to was going on rides without having to “fat check” the crowd to find someone bigger than me that I could watch getting on the ride to make sure I would fit.
Now I’ve lost weight and been on a few rides I’ve realised that either age or Jab side effects means I get really bad motion sickness so that’s out the window Envy

I’ve done a zip line and high wire course though that I would have been over the weight limit for before which was a great feeling.

NannyOgg1341 · 31/05/2025 15:37

I go on school trips a lot with my classes, and I can't wait to use a seatbelt on a coach (I know, big dreams!) I'd also like to go to see the doctor/nurse without feeling they're just going to tell me I need to lose weight.

The clothes thing really resonates. I look t some of the clothes I bought at my biggest and honestly they are self hate made out of fabric! The only criteria was that they covered me, not whether they looked good or I liked them. I’m at a weird point now because I don’t want to buy for the weight I am now because I’m expecting to keep losing (hurrah for WLI) but even my nicer clothes are looking baggy. I’m so looking forward, not to wearing ‘look at me’ clothes but not wearing ‘don’t look at me’ clothes!

Very well put. I feel the same.
Weirdly enough I also realised that I bought too many clothes when I was bigger. Probably in the hope that they would magically make me feel better about me.

PearlsPearl · 31/05/2025 22:05

I forgot to say, I also can't wait to wear my wedding ring again.

ditavonteesed · 01/06/2025 07:34

Mine is feeling my hip bones stick out, I’ve lost 4.5 stone and maintained for a few years and I still lay in bed at night with my hand on my hip bones.

Trounlet · 01/06/2025 07:53

I tucked my t-shirt into my jeans yesterday for the first time it felt tremendous😊

I'm in all the clothes I haven't fit in for 10 years plus, and am looking forwards to shopping for size 10 clothes, which I've never fitted in as an adult.

SW 115kg, CW 81kg, target 70kg

Hi everyone I’m in a bit of a Mounjaro funk at the min and needing some motivation so thought I would revisit this and see how we are all doing a few months on ?
I have almost lost 3 stone now and my legs are definitely smaller, still no sign of my collar bones though and I suppose crossing my legs is a bit easier now! What’s been your successes?

When I first started losing weight I most looked forward to not needing to use seatbelt extenders in taxis and planes. I have achieved that goal now but I still carry an extender with me in my bag just in case.

Now the thing I’m most looking forward to is being able to walk for much longer, and to see my foof for the first time in years, I’ve forgotten what the old girl looks like, as belly has been in the way for more years than I care to remember.

SilenceInside · 23/08/2025 17:15

@StartingApril2025 I’ve completed Couch to 5k and can now run for 30 mins none stop several times a week.

AmythestBangle · 23/08/2025 17:37

I love going into shops and buying whatever I like, rather than just buying the ones that will hide my tummy. I am at goal now and loving it

StartingApril2025 · 23/08/2025 17:58

Ah @Perimenopop that’s fab re. The seat extender , love it ! Also great you’re notice more ability and stamina for walking and exercise.

@SilenceInside ah that is amazing, I’ve been meaning to start , what a achievement!

@AmythestBangle what a great feeling I am sure !! I havnt bought anything yet smaller as bizarrely my clothes aren’t that big but defo need to go shopping soon!

well done everyone!

I managed to halve my blood pressure medication.
And the pain I had in my Achilles tendon which came when I did more than 20 minutes walking (and which also meant that when I got up after sitting a while I was limping a bit, just for a minute or so) is totally gone.
I love going for long walks now.
I can cross my legs and it's comfortable.
I am more confident at work.
I don't feel like a failure anymore when it comes to my weight.
I've realised that I suffered in so many different ways when I was overweight - physically and emotionally.
I'm nearly at target weight and I'm a bit unsure where I'll be in ... let's say a year's time. I do not want to put that weight back on. But I also don't want to be on the jabs forever

Doyouthinktheyknow · 23/08/2025 19:03

I’ve lost 3 stone 4lb and I am below my goal weight. Didn’t use weight loss injections but if this hadn’t worked, I was going down that route. My BMI was 29.9 when I started.

I joined a gym alongside losing the weight and I’ve been weight lifting and doing cardio so my shape has changed quite a lot, my shoulders are more defined and I no longer look like Humpty Dumpty🫣

The most wonderful thing is looking nice in clothes. I can wear a fitted T shirt without rolls of fat visible and I look nice in a skirt and fitted T shirt!

I can squat and lunge with weights, couldn’t even get on my knees before due to pain and swelling. My next goal is to be able to get on and off the floor without my hands, given how bad my knees were before this is a big goal but I am getting there.

I have struggled with long walks for years due to knee pain, it’s laid me up for at least a day or 2 if I did a long walk but now I walk easily for up to 13 miles or more with no pain after. I’m faster than my DH walking now which has not been the case for a decade!

Overall it just feels wonderful to feel light and not constantly conscious of my size and worried what will fit!

afaloren · 23/08/2025 19:13

My wedding ring fitting again. Want that more than anything else.

ShrankLastWinter · 23/08/2025 22:02

Traveling is so much more comfortable.

I have so much less pain.

Sex is more fun.

I can do handstands.

Clothes are fun for the first time ever.

My weight crept up slowly over many years so I didn’t realize how disabling it was until it went.
