Welcome to thread 11 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we throw away the tent dresses, have no chub rub and wear ALL the damn shorts as we head towards Summer Holiday Season. 🙌

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and generally mutually admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W29 D5 and on my third 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 1.8lbs
GW 9st 13.9 (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 51.2 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Morning all. I’m still on maintenance now. Using a 10mg pen but dosing 7.5mg every 9 days ish. And trying to keep a close eye by weighing still regularly to check I don’t regain this blasted weight.
My new little dilemma is that I started noticing it was a little bit painful to sit too long. Then I became incredibly aware of my tail bone and sit bones. In work meetings I’ve been selfishly rushing for the padded seats over the hard ones. And then it occurred to me….Who knew I could have a skinny bum? Years ago I was honestly known for my curvy rear one admin in my team earnestly telling me I was so lucky as it was like Kim Kardashian’s. 😂
No longer! I’m now thinking I need to get a little memory foam cushion - but how would I style that out at work? The dilemmas of no longer being plump all over.

I couldn’t agree with this more. The sensationalism around MJ/Oz is quite something and I would probably have bought into it. I never imagined I’d end up paying ££ for an injection to help me lose weight. My trigger for doing it was an influx of family and friends all starting it and so it seemed less scary and not just for other people.

Our corner of mumsnet has provided a sane and supportive network as we are all in the same boat, maybe with different journeys. Our collective experiences and non judgemental approach has been amazing. It’s really encouraged me to focus on protein and up my exercise. To buy an LED mask and collagen! And helped me get down to a weight I wouldn’t have even considered possible in July (this morning my weight starts with a 7 - just - usual very short disclaimer!).

we have shared our experiences in a positive way, even when things haven’t been easy. And I definitely feel so much more positive and in a better place mentally than I did in November.

here’s to our lovely group, and our inspiring leader and queen of P volve 🥂

The media negativity is wild - which is one reason I’ve not mentioned it to my mum as she’d worry. All these “hidden side effects” articles in the daily mail seem to be written by angry people who want fat people to stay fat. It’s mad.

Anyway, death jabs seem to be working well for many of us. I have stalled over the last couple of months but I’ve maintained. I was planning to reduce down but have decided I’d like a final push to lose a few more lbs and to do that I think I need the higher (pricier) dose. We’ve had a very expensive month so I’m finding it hard to justify the cost but I know dh won’t begrudge me (pretty sure I sold it to him that I’d only need 3 months worth of jabs… back in November 🤦🏻‍♀️).

Congratulations on maintaining! That’s fantastic! 👏 I’ve got my oushk call later this morning.

Sensationalist stories in the press this weekend about how MJ means that your contraceptive pill won’t work… fears over unborn children conceived while people are on MJ (as if it is thalidomide or something) skimming over the fact that it is an established drug for diabetics who I also assume do actually manage to take advice about conception and taking life-saving drugs at the same time. It was also the case that when I first purchased MJ from MedExpress the drop-down menu was very clear back in November that it was well known by prescribers that it reduced the efficacy of contraceptive pills and you were advised to make sure that you were taking precautions against failure. So it is hardly new news seven months later! I also noticed that the daily mail had run a story last weekabout why women on HRT should not be on MJ or OZ. Which was hidden behind a payable. So I very much doubt that contained any element of public service reporting based on fact! Most of the press is behaving like Boris Johnson during Brexit – didn’t really believe in Brexit but couldn’t lose either way by taking the side of the Farage supporters. And so the press does seem to be very keen not to run many positive stories so that they remain able to write ‘ we warned you about this’ stories in the future.. in fact, I can’t think of a single positive story that I’ve read recently about MJ. The papers are full of ‘ I could no longer be friends with my friend now she’s on MJ’ ‘ restaurants are closing down rapidly because people on MJ no longer eat’ ‘ MJ ruined my mental health‘ etc etc. It’s absolutely nuts.

OMG I had exactly this a couple of weeks ago on the tube – planted my bum down as usual but it felt like I sat on a plank of wood! I’d be interested to hear if anyone thinks that they have regained their muscle mass post MJ? Especially in the posterior! At the moment, I don’t think I can do much more, my protein intake is good. I’m lifting heavyweights 5X per week, intake of water is good and I’m also taking collagen but my bum and thighs remain resolutely skinny which they have never been before!

Sound the four stones lost klaxon! It feels like I've been nearly there for ages so I had quite the woop when I weighed myself this morning. As a fun extra 15st 9 is also 99kg - I'm so skinny in metric 😂
It means the reward jewellery finally gets it time in the sun too - hello new diamonds (yes I am quite extra).

Wowzers! Beautiful ring! And I love the nail colour too 🥰

congratulations on your four stone trophy! 🏆 🙌

@Mounjaropen three pounds isn’t so bad at all. Some of that will be travel water weight too.

i think mj helps with keeping my mood stable. I don’t feel the lows of despair with a gain or stall. I became badly depressed after a bout with low fat weight watchers in the late 90s. And I wasn’t the only one.

🤞 I think WW is reaping everything they deserve after sowing the seeds of disordered eating… I’m glad that your mood is staying lifted and stable on MJ 💪

An NSV for me - ordered a Joe Brown’s denim jumpsuit from Vinted (size 16. Amazingly just £5 but £8.44 including postage etc). Picked it up today and it fits!

How fab! You look brilliant in it 🥰

I have been swimsuit shopping today and the melted candles were out in full force. I'm so saggy! It's honestly a bit depressing. I hope it does tighten up again, my stomach used to be one of my good bits! I tried on a few in River Island which were all disastrous but I did get one in Sainsburys (a size 12 btw) that's acceptable.

In happier news I am.now a 10 in jeans in both Sainsburys and M&S, it would seem. 12 almost everywhere else apart from one pair of 12s from new look that I can just about zip up but can't bend my legs in. And one pair of 14s from H&M that still fit (just).

H&M sizing is the very definition of bonkers so I would definitely ignore 😂 enjoy your size tens from everywhere else!

Re: melted candles, I feel I shall be swathed in fabric forever to hide my wax dribbling situation. Tummy, thighs, upper arms. My face is my best bit (always has been). When that starts presenting like the nazi at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark I may seek desperate measures!

we still go to restaurants but less than we did due to cost (dc all eating like adults on top of rising costs - no more kids meals here!). I can’t imagine ending a friendship because they were on mj… wtf? Pretty rubbish friend.

@Babymamamama yes to the lack of bum softening! I’m squirming every time I’m on a flight where I have to sit in one position for too long.

Welcome to the four stone club 📣📣📣 @PinkArt (and loving the blue nail polish)

Think I am going to chat to DH about reward jewellery 😂. Not yet though as he has muttered about my new tops but as DD pointed out at lunchtime some of my clothes were looking like loose pyjamas “And she will be shopping again in a couple of months!” 😂 Hopefully 16/14 done to 12

Reward jewellery is definitely the way to go I reckon 😂

Loose trousers is such a fab feeling isn't it?

I’m finding the needles a bit more painful each week. I inject into my stomach, and I think it’s getting more difficult as my skin becomes looser and the fat disappears. I bled for the first time tonight. I don’t know if hitting my stretch marks and then being thinner skin is more of an issue not that I’m not padded out.

I still have a tummy roll and a post-baby tummy apron, so I am not likely to have this issue for quite some time! Can you grab any rolls? Maybe on your bum cheek or inner arm?

The press have to villainise the jabs. They’re running out of people to bodyshame.
Ive seen a shift online recently of jab users shaming other jab users for not eating perfectly. And using all the toxic diet language of the past and labelling people failures and predicting they’ll be fat again.
Its so depressing and just increases my blocked list.

It’s lovely to be in here with the positivity, and the acceptance of our flaws.

That said no loss for me this week, well less than half a kilo. I need to eat more this week on super suppression days to have a more even calorie distribution. Yesterday was the only day I ate normal levels.

Best of luck for the new week.

Mounjaropen · 09/06/2025 11:16

Oceangrey · 08/06/2025 20:49

Someone said to me today that I was obviously doing really well on be weight loss and how was I achieving it or 'had I had some help' which I assume was a euphemism for jabs.
I just said I'm a stress eater and I'm not longer stressed, after 5+ years of some pretty extreme work stress. Which is true although also something of a lie of omission! My husband and closest friends know but I didn't feel inclined to share with this person.

Totally agree. No one else's business at all.

My 'favourite' new toxic behaviour online is the non-golden dose takers hating on the golden dose takers, it really is very silly and absolutely up to the individual. I saw a TikTok where one non GD taker whipped the lids off all her used pens to reveal said golden dose, waved them at the camera and gloated at how this would trigger those who do take the GD. Just daft!

I’m not sure what was in the Daily Mail article but I wonder if it is to do with the fact that delayed gastric emptying can reduce the absorption of oral progesterone? Potentially increasing the risk of the womb lining thickening. That is what my GP said to me on Friday and hence why she prescribed the patches with progesterone rather than the pills.

Just had a google and found this useful page:

I suspect the risk is incredibly low though!

Thanks to @Mounjaropen for pointing me in the right direction of the new thread. Here's what I posted in the old one...

Checking in after a hiatus! Congrats to all on victories both scale and non scale. I had quite a stressful business trip and found I had gained 2 lbs afterwards, although I know my calories were pretty good, so I am guessing it is water retention, lack of sleep and stress.
Funnily enough, now I am 3.5 stone down, I have been finding it hard to motivate myself to carry on, even though I am still obese according to the BMI chart. 15.5 stone must be a big set point for me! It's been really helpful reading through other people's experiences and it has given me a kick to continue as I really would like to lose another 2 stone (maybe a bit more).
I am now on 10mg (first week), transitioned with only one bout of the runs on the second night after the jab, and the suppression is good. What is hard is the odd feeling of missing out, I think now is when the psychology is rearing its head, and I must remind myself how far I have come and consider this blip good practice for when I come off the medication.
It is definitely all in my head, as I am having a little bit of what I fancy and then feeling full (so not denying myself), it's more of a rebellious feeling, a bit of a 'poor me' feeling, that others can have whatever they want and not me. It's an old, familiar feeling and I think the root of what has led me to overeat and drink too much in the past. Interesting! (And annoying!). Has anyone else come across this?

I know, just very strange, she was so smug waving them around. No idea why. The comment section was hilarious, people saying 'well, don't save money then' on the one hand and others frothing about 'poisonous left over liquid' as if somehow the medication magically changes in the pen once the four official doses have been taken 😂
