Welcome to thread 11 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we throw away the tent dresses, have no chub rub and wear ALL the damn shorts as we head towards Summer Holiday Season. 🙌

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and generally mutually admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W29 D5 and on my third 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 1.8lbs
GW 9st 13.9 (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 51.2 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Thank you for the HRT tips both @Pumpkinforever and @Mounjaropen . I have made notes to take with me!

I was at one point considering the mirena coil for the progesterone element (due to heavyish periods) but have come back around to the idea of the tablet for now, and to see how it goes. Definitely want to go body / bio- identical route too (another downvote for the coil as it is synthetic). I am a bit nervous… why in this day and age is it so hard to discuss this stuff with the GP, at least for me anyway! Will be strong 💪

I'm on the progesterone tablets (I'm on the mini pill anyway, so my body is used to it) and the twice weekly oestrogen patch. There is less of me to stick it onto each week! I did it through the Boots online doctor to save faffing with my GP, and had my first check in through them a week or so ago. They've added an oestrogen vaginal tablet to my routine to help with the atrophied lady parts. I requested that.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 06/06/2025 15:33

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar Woo Hoo! Well done, you must feel exhilarated. I am in the same boat re 10mg. SE really settled, Hoping I can stay on it a long time.

@Goldleafcat Sounds like you are making a good plan going forwards re the exercise etc. I've been on HRT a few years now. When I first knew I needed it I saw a male GP who said no, my symptoms were not perimenopause. But I had every symptom going except hot flushes. I was absolutely miserable with lack of sleep, anxiety, aching bones, sallow skin and hair loss. 1 year later the hot flushes kicked in with ferocity. Went to see a female GP who said of course I needed HRT, with or without the hot flushes, all the other symptoms should have been evidence enough. We both agreed that some male GP's just do not get it!
After trying pills and patches I have settled very well with Estrogel and as @Mounjaropen said, progesterone tablets in the evening. The joy of the Estrogel Is that there is more flexibility in dosing.

I have just found a photo of myself taken a week before starting this weight loss journey. At the time I thought I looked pretty good, but I can't believe the transformation compared to a photo taken last week! I look quite a bit younger now compared to then. That's a definite NSV!

DarkForces · 06/06/2025 17:30

Less than half a stone of fa healthy BMI and the road in front of me has the end a lot closer than the start. My next goal is to get to a single figure on the stones and start thinking about maintenance. I've moved to oushk in readiness and hopefully will be there some time in 2025!

HRT update

Saw the GP (very nice lady). She has suggested a 3 month trial of HRT. She did say that with the Mounjaro there are some concerns that the progesterone tablets are not absorbed as well so she was going to prescribe patches, which include the progesterone in the patch (2 weeks of oestrogen only patches, then 2 weeks of combined oestrogen and progesterone patches).

It did cross my mind that a lot of women will be on HRT with progesterone as well as Mounjaro and it’s not something I’d heard of as being a concern before. But the same will apply for all medications, really. In my non medical opinion, I would presume they are all absorbed ok eventually, just slower than normal!

It is Evorel Sequi - from what I can see the oestrogen is body identical but the progesterone is synthetic.

We will see how I get on!

Morning lovely weight loss friends.

1lb of for me this week & time for my 30th jab!

SW: 14st
CW: 10st 8
GW: 10st 3 (healthy BMI) but really I'd love a 9 on the scales.

I went clothes shopping this week but ended up very confused about sizing. Not sure if I have changed shape as well as lost weight or whether clothes have. Has anybody found this? Xx

NSV I wore a just above the knee length dress to work yesterday. I tend to live in maxis but since they're currently a little longer due to my reducing body surface area and I walk to work, they're slightly dangerous to wear when it's raining. I think that's the first time anyone other than my husband has seen my knees in years. So, so many comments on my legs - they've always been oddly long for my shortish height, but damn, they do look good even if I say so myself (let us never speak of the thighs; the leg shapely-ness melts when you approach the melted candle area).

Fingers crossed for you! If you don't get on with Evorel, there's also Estradot - the patches are nice and small so they tend to stick better to me.

Yes. Styles that were always my go-to before just don't look the same anymore. I used to love a pair of high rise jeans but now they just don't fit me right, no matter what size I try! They all have too much material around the crotch!

Woop woop!!! Yeah for legs on show!

Cantbesure · 07/06/2025 14:53

My worst melted candle area is my stomach. I’m very short and it’s already had to do a LOT of stretching to grow 2 babies. And then a few ups and downs on the scales over the past 20 years. And it’s definitely taken its toll.

I saw a couple of friends I hadn’t seen since the start of the MJ journey and they were surprised to see my new size. One had swallowed all the media hype about the dangers of MJ/Oz so I hope I was able to educate and reassure her.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 07/06/2025 19:27

Oooh, yes @BlueWalker Candlewax areas! I was starting to get a bit miffed and self critical about that last week so gave myself a talking to.
In all other ways I am so happy and proud of what I have achieved on this journey, not just losing 3 stone.10, but all the NSV's as well. I was absolutely miserable when I decided to start MJ, but now I am happy, confident and comfortable.
Amazingly, I am also confident that I can achieve my final goal, and stay there.
So I am determined to not resent these areas as, to me, they are a much better thing to have than depression, anxiety and being obese.
I know my brain will try and criticise these areas, but I am going to work to turn that self criticism into praise.

If next weeks warmer weather predictions come true I am definitely going to join you in getting the legs out. I am a maxi dress fan but have a couple of lovely short dresses and skirts from decades ago, and they now fit me again!

@random223 I agree ones new shape takes some adjusting to and getting used to, I have a waist! it dips in at the sides. When I catch a glance at my reflection in shop windows/mirrors I do a double take that that is actually me.
My mindset previously was if it fits and looks OK I would buy it. Now that so much fits and looks great, I have to stop myself buying it all simply for that reason.

Awesome @flametrees 🎉🎉

Pumpkinforever · 07/06/2025 22:26

So went clothes shopping today. It’s fantastic to be able to go into a shop to try stuff on without worrying about if they stock my size. I have gone from 20/22 to 16/14. Hopefully another stone off will move me firmly into the 14 bracket.

evilharpy · 08/06/2025 09:35

@Pumpkinforever it's great isn't it! Are you finding yourself going into shops you would have avoided before?

Mounjaropen · 08/06/2025 09:49

Well my Big Fat Greek holiday has come to an end…back in Blighty with the requisite washing mountain. My real scales say I’ve put on 3lbs (fair enough, I drank ALL the wine ALL of the time 😂) but suspect I’ve mitigated some gain by clean eating some amazing fish dishes, eschewing puddings and actually using the hotel gym (did 7 long Pvolve sessions with heavy weights). Focusing on protein intake and cardio this week to see if I can get to the 9’s this month.

Absolutely loved feeling thinner. I wore ALL the shorts despite my inner thigh festoon curtain skin and I took a selfie for DD each day to show my new/old wardrobe for dinner and pool looks (I think she’s wondering where her real mother is - the one who messages about bin day, ‘has the dog had his daily YuMoves?’ and a reminder to throw out the pineapple in the fruit bowl 😂)

Oushk maintenance call this week so 🤞🏻Also going to investigate RF treatment for my thighs and tummy. The melted candle look needs to do one 😭

Happy Sunday everyone!

What a fantastic update! 🥰

I get seriously annoyed when there is yet another ‘how taking MJ sent me into a depression’ article, because for the majority of us, our outlook on life is just so much more positive and it is disingenuous to present the experience of the minority as a reality for the majority. If I hadn’t read the MN threads about how everyone is really feeling, I might never have started on MJ and my holiday experience would have been the same as the last twenty bloody years…sweating in the corner wearing some massive tent dress.

Wear all the short dresses and marvel in your reflection 🥳

I have the opposite - my tummy was always too matronly to wear high rise! Funny how we’ve all changed in such different ways.
