Other advantages to taking Mounjaro?

bookworm1982 · 25/03/2025 09:35

I’ve just started my weight loss journey and am hearing of other advantages people have experienced while being on the drug, such as more energy, no desire to smoke or drink, better sleep.

is this correct? It sounds like a wonder drug. Anything else I can look forward to?

thanks all ! Excited! Xxx

I have more energy but I think it's just because I'm eating clean and focusing on nutrition rather than just low calorie. I'm actually fuelling my body with nutrient dense food rather than eating whatever as long as it fits my daily calories.

It has completely cured my pepsi max addiction though. I've had 2 cans in 8 weeks and I didn't even finish them, just had a couple of sips and no desire for more.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 25/03/2025 10:25

Loads of energy, can take or leave a glass of wine and have no urge to have a Diet Coke at all, both of which were daily pre-MJ!! For these alone, I am never stopping!

whyamisuddenlygettingolder · 25/03/2025 11:10

I've completely quit Coke Zero, without even thinking about it - which tbh, might be as beneficial to my health as losing weight!

RunSlowTalkFast · 25/03/2025 11:50

6 months in, still addicted to coke zero 🤷🏻‍♀️

But my body seems to respond less to mounjaro in general compared to most people! Only lost a stone.

Madickenxx · 25/03/2025 11:52

My blood pressure went from high to normal in 24 hours after starting Mounjaro. My cholesterol went from high to normal within 6 weeks of starting (might have been quicker but that's when I tested). Other than that, the advantages are those expected from weight loss, ie improved mobility, less joint pain, more energy etc.

bookworm1982 · 25/03/2025 12:15

Wow this is very exciting!

Lost all interest in alcohol (from a bottle of wine a day at times before), and post menopause hot flushes/night sweats (which I have had for 10 years and did not improve with HRT) have completely disappeared.

bookworm1982 · 25/03/2025 13:48

Wow the nightsweats have gone?? I have the WORST nightsweats and have done for years. If this helps with that that would be amazing!!

OP posts:
bookworm1982 · 25/03/2025 13:48

Have you heard of anyone else taking them and having nightsweats improved?

angelinawasrobbed · 25/03/2025 13:50

My digestion has improved, perhaps because it has been slowed down

healthybychristmas · 25/03/2025 14:22

Everything is better! I can sit on the floor easily and crawl around with my granddaughter now.

AHens · 25/03/2025 17:46

My sleep was a bit patchy at the beginning of MJ. Sometimes I even found it more difficult to sleep. But one thing I have noticed as the weeks have gone by - now week 20 - is that once I get into bed, usually, I fall asleep much more quickly now. Sometimes within 10 minutes. Of course not always. This can actually be a little annoying if I want to read a book though. 🤷‍♀️ 🙃. My total hours sleep haven’t changed very much and the vivid dreams, which I had at the beginning, and which I rather liked, have faded away overtime as well. One other thing - I noticed I sometimes need a nap early evening and that is a relatively new thing, though that might be age as well as.MJ as I’m in my 60s now

AHens · 25/03/2025 17:48

I still have and enjoy my daily glass of wine, that hasn’t changed much. But I noticed that I also do not fancy Pepsi Max so much!

roshi42 · 25/03/2025 18:15

Plantar fasciitis has gone!!! Worth the money for that alone. I think it massively reduces inflammation in the body.

Have also stopped my daily Diet Coke entirely.

SmallSoupcon · 25/03/2025 18:17

My stress and anxiety have reduced. I have ADHD and it's improved my focus. I'm also able to sleep more, as my mind isn't racing at night. The mental calm is extraordinary!

AmythestBangle · 25/03/2025 21:38

@bookworm1982 yes indeed, I have read some recent papers on these drugs being considered as treatment for menopause symptoms. I have gone from years of always being hot, sitting around in T-shrts looking like a red-faced prat when everyone else is wearing two jumpers and complaining of the cold, to myself feeling cold. I had not worn a jumper for years (and I live in Ireland). Now i am wearing my DH's woolly ones every day. Not a single night sweat in sight, and I was previously having to wash my pyjamas every day and often change in the middle of the night...

MummyInTheNecropolis · 25/03/2025 22:55

I have almost curbed my Pepsi max addixtion. I’m down to one can a day now whereas before I was drinking 2-4 litres a day 😳

I also have more energy and can walk so much further and for so much longer without the sore feet and achey knees I used to get. I used to struggle to do a 10 minute walk, now I can walk briskly for 30-45 minutes!

CallIpswichNow · 25/03/2025 23:01

the Coke thing is so interesting!!

I used to drink a can of normal Coke maybe 3 or 4 times a week and sometimes really craved it. I’ve not specifically ruled it out since starting MJ a month ago, but just haven’t been bothered about it. I have only had 1 can, and even then I just poured half into a cup and let DS take the rest.

AIDater · 25/03/2025 23:08

Hmmm so interesting how it affects everyone so differently!

I don't seem to have any positve "side effects" well apart from losing 3 stone!! My knees don't ache as much but think that's more to do with losing the weight.

However I also don't have any negative side effects" no nausea, no diarrhoea or tiredness, that some people get. Absolutely nothing. So that's great!

It is indeed a wonder drug. Although must have my cholesterol tested as it was on the high side before.

PaintDecisions · 25/03/2025 23:10

I'm saving an absolute fortune. Just as well, as I need to replace about 80% of my wardrobe this month...

However I've paid off about £1k extra off the credit card in the last 5 months which is astonishing to me. That's money not spent on booze, food, takeaways etc.

Kaggi9 · 25/03/2025 23:27

I’m in perimenopause and my periods have changed since starting. I had been having horrific headaches leading up to them and awful stomach ache for at least 24 hours and was going through Anadin at a rate of knots. Since starting MJ, nothing! No headaches and just a very mild ache. It’s great!

shrinkingthiswinter · 25/03/2025 23:29

I'm cool as a cucumber instead of perimenopausally pink and damp.

Pain - presumably from inflammation - in my back and feet reduced massively within 48 hours of first injection.

LegoTherapy · 25/03/2025 23:48

I wonder what would happen if it was given to those with a healthy BMI but for ADHD, chronic pain (in my case due to endometriosis, a back in constant spasm with knots the size of my fists at the base of my spine, headaches, dodgy knees and a hip that’s joined in lately), perimenopause, and high blood pressure that is genetic and possibly a delight of perimenopause? It certainly seems to be a cure-all miracle drug for some and a life without the above would be like living the life of someone else. I can’t imagine a pain free life let alone one where my brain is still and calm.

Nicecuppatea2025 · 26/03/2025 00:12

Can tie my shoes without puffing
No longer using alcohol as a crutch
Can fold my arms and legs comfortably
Sleeping better
Waking up earlier
Skin is clearer
More confident

And last Saturday I ran for the bus.

Miracle indeed!

aylis · 26/03/2025 00:17

Brain fog has been one of the most distressing parts of the last few years going into perimenopause, and since day one taking mounjaro it has vastly improved. I mostly just experience it at the moment when I'm tired as opposed all. the. time.
