Other advantages to taking Mounjaro?

I’ve just started my weight loss journey and am hearing of other advantages people have experienced while being on the drug, such as more energy, no desire to smoke or drink, better sleep.

is this correct? It sounds like a wonder drug. Anything else I can look forward to?

thanks all ! Excited! Xxx

@Motnight that's great ..can I ask how long the 5st took to lose and what dose you took..I'm about to start and want to lose similar.

@RhaenysRocksI started MJ in August. Am currently on 12.5. Moved fairly quickly up to 10 and stayed there for several months. I am overweight still.

Fuelledbylatte · 27/03/2025 07:12

I’m so alert in a way that would have previously only happened after a mini break / no work for a few days kind of vibe.

my lower back has been on and off with pain for 18 years- it is 85% less sore.

I have no desire to nap after lunch which I’ve done since having children (eldest is 19!!). It’s early days for me but the benefits are truly astonishing.

RhaenysRocks · 27/03/2025 07:20

Thank you...I'm generally pretty good with energy levels and getting stuff done and despite being 49 don't really have any peri or meno symptoms as described by others, other than finding it hard to lose weight and thinner hair. Bit worried about messing up my general wellbeing but being 5st overweight at 5ft is not a good look or healthy so it's worth the risk.

My psoriasis has greatly improved, almost disappeared. 👌

DH’s has almost entirely cleared up too - he’s been on MJ since June ‘24. Improved diet will play its part of course, but he’s so happy about the psoriasis being gone, it was bad for years.

I’ve been on it since May ‘24. From 14.5 to 9.5 stone & I feel better than I have done in years. Have started Couch 2 5k & I find running easier now at 54 than in my teens, which is weird but wonderful!

Nutmuncher · 27/03/2025 10:49

I have a few family and friends on it as well and aside from a few headaches or nausea moments the positive results are significant. IBS symptoms disappeared, no food noise, drinking lots of water which is giving clear skin, snoring disappeared, better sleep, reduced alcohol consumption, better digestion, improved moods, menopause symptoms controlled. It’s the glow of success and feel good factor when complimented on how great they look that’s making a big impact too.

One friend turns 60 this year and absolutely loves what it’s doing for her, going from a UK size 16 to now a 12 with 8-10 as her goal before her birthday early summer, was something menopause and general aging had made seem impossible before the start of the year. I’d say it’s easily taken at least 10 years off, coupled with her new choppy bob she’s gone from (in her words) a ‘matronly rotund invisible person’ to someone no longer afraid to join a dating app.

Arglefraster · 27/03/2025 11:02

My migraines have gone from 2/month to one about every 2 months.
psoriasis has improved (eczema hasn't 🤷‍♀️)
The layers of chatter in my head have vastly reduced from 7-8 down to 3-4 plus one is often music now.

Nutmuncher · 27/03/2025 11:22

A quick Google about the psoriasis clearing aspect and I think it’s linked to MJ slowing or stopping some of the triggers for flare ups, it’s not really food linked, usually stress, hormonal, environmental and alcohol triggered. If MJ has helped dramatically lower your alcohol consumption, calmed a lot of stress or improved menopause symptoms then if they caused your psoriasis it makes sense that it’s cleared up for some MJ users.

Arglefraster · 27/03/2025 11:43

Psoriasis is autoimmune so it would make sense for an anti inflammatory like MJ to improve it.

I don’t think my husband has any menopausal symptoms to be improved by MJ 😆

My latest hare-brained scheme since losing more than 4 stone with Mounjaro is that I've bought a weighted vest to get a bit fitter. The vest I've bought is a 10lb one. I was a bit over-enthusiastic on the first day and went on two walks with it on, totally about 6 miles. By the end of the second walk, I could feel it in every joint.

Quite sobering to think that I was lugging six times that around with me everywhere before last August ... I'm not surprised everything ached!

I went on holiday and struggled with the weight of my suitcase yet I'd lost 1.5 times that weight.

Yes I notice when some people complain they have lost ONLY “10 lbs” and I think well - let’s go to the supermarket and unload 10 lbs of potatoes and carry that round all day 🙃.

Sometimes I think it would be a good idea to keep a pound of potatoes next to the scales, to remind oneself of eg. how much 1 lb of fat actually weighs. To my mind, it’s actually quite a lot to lose….

Plantar fasciitis has gone!!! Worth the money for that alone. I think it massively reduces inflammation in the body.

Have also stopped my daily Diet Coke entirely.

Wish it would make mine go!

Boohoo76 · 27/03/2025 21:41

I suffer from very severe Seborrheic dermatitis and it has massively improved. I am barely using the cream that my dermatologist prescribed. I went out with friends and they said that my skin looked amazing!

JBJ · 27/03/2025 21:55

I’ve completely gone off wine, chocolate and fizzy drinks! My IBS seems to have vanished, and I’m regular for the first time in over 20 years. The one thing I really hoped it would put me off, hasn’t happened though - nicotine (vaped for years after stopping smoking and really need to quit that too). I’m also sleeping so much better, and fairly sure I’m not snoring anymore, as I’m not waking up with a dry mouth and sore throat, so I’m feeling more energised and motivated.

Elaine1985 · 28/03/2025 00:13

Where do people get their Mounjaro from?
I spoke with my GP and she has no objections to me trying it as she is aware I have struggled with my weight for years. Having fibro doesn’t help when you have a flare and feel tired most of the time.

MakyJo · 28/03/2025 00:40

Thought you might like to hear from me - I started in September and have lost 5 stone now.
Also very likely an have ADHD. I cannot tell you how much better I feel. I loved crisps, fizzy drinks, take aways.. I now only drink water and coffee.. the constant food noise has gone.
I struggled with stress incontinence - although not gone this has really improved. I can't say it's helped much with my procrastination or menopausal brain fog but I feel so much happier. My diet has changed so much.. I want to eat nutritious foods - still crave the odd chip but can have one and move on!
I do think my hair is a bit thinner but other than that absolutely no side effects.
Wishing you all the best xxx

I like to think about my weight loss in terms of packs of butter. I buy butter in a 500gram pack, so my thoughts are “I’ve only lost 4.5kgs… hang on that’s 9 packs of butter.”

This thread is really moving to read, it's actually making me a bit teary. The number of ways people's lives have been changed for the better.

6 months in, still addicted to coke zero 🤷🏻‍♀️

But my body seems to respond less to mounjaro in general compared to most people! Only lost a stone.

I’m the same 10 lbs in 4 months - but I reckon I will just stay on it longer to achieve the 3 stone loss that I’d like - even if it takes a few years

ToooBig · 28/03/2025 12:31

Like a previous poster, I'm still addicted to diet coke! But I have noticed I drink less of it :)

I was extremely tired for the first 3 months but my energy has since picked up which is great!!

I am much less bothered by chocolate than I used to be! Only really want it in the week before my period. But even then, I can open a packet and just have one or two pieces!!! 😲

The main benefit for me is just not having to calorie count and not battle in my head all the time about what to eat, when to eat, how much to eat. I just eat when I feel like it now, which isn't often!

My confidence has increased massively.

I don't really impulse shop so much anymore!

I just feel amazing really!

Mine too! I wasn't sure if that was due to just me losing weight and exercising more or the reduction in inflammation.

roshi42 · 28/03/2025 13:56

I think it must be the drug itself as mine went within a week of starting. I’ve lost 20lbs so far which is great but not something I haven’t done before - and I still had the PF then. So I reckon inflammation! I think we’re going to learn to much more about insulin resistance and inflammation and how weight really works from this drug.

Lillipops · 28/03/2025 14:07

I’ve just found a photo from a couple of years ago and I never realised how awful I looked. 4 st 6lbs off since September, still got a long way to go but I’m halfway there. My psoriasis is also improving I’ve really noticed it the last couple of weeks

I've had to reduce my Levothyroxine levels, possibly due to weight loss but actual I feel like my thyroid performance improved almost straight away on MJ
