Other advantages to taking Mounjaro?

I’ve just started my weight loss journey and am hearing of other advantages people have experienced while being on the drug, such as more energy, no desire to smoke or drink, better sleep.

is this correct? It sounds like a wonder drug. Anything else I can look forward to?

thanks all ! Excited! Xxx

My psoriasis has greatly improved, almost disappeared. 👌

Moier · 26/03/2025 06:44

I've completely reversed my type 2 diabetes.

putputput · 26/03/2025 07:15

I’ve gone about 95% UPF free. I’m cooking everything from scratch and therefore my family are eating so much better. I could never have achieved that sustainably before. I’m so much more conscious about what I’m eating and what it will do to my body. Whole, nutritious food to nourish.

CallIpswichNow · 26/03/2025 09:26

this is a weirdly moving thread.

@LegoTherapy I sympathise — I have a lot of similar symptoms to you. MJ has not eradicated them so far (my back is still appallingly painful, actually getting worse but I don’t think that is related). But general body-wide inflammation pain is reduced, some of which I’ve had for 18 years since I was many stones slimmer. That slightly improved almost overnight and has had an impact on things like how it feels to engage my knees.

So yes, I do wonder if a very low dose could really help people who don’t need the actual weight loss.

Couloir · 26/03/2025 09:31

Reliably sleeping like a log for the first time in probably a decade. The (welcome and necessary) weight loss is linked to this, I think. I'm not shattered all day, so I'm not subsisting on biscuits 🙄

AugustMounjaroTeam · 26/03/2025 09:32

My latest hare-brained scheme since losing more than 4 stone with Mounjaro is that I've bought a weighted vest to get a bit fitter. The vest I've bought is a 10lb one. I was a bit over-enthusiastic on the first day and went on two walks with it on, totally about 6 miles. By the end of the second walk, I could feel it in every joint.

Quite sobering to think that I was lugging six times that around with me everywhere before last August ... I'm not surprised everything ached!

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 26/03/2025 09:33

Wow I hadn't even thought about Pepsi max, I used to have a bottle daily, haven't touched it in a week and a half! Didn't even realise til I read this thread.

I'm sleeping better, sometimes annoyingly tired and in bed by 10.

More alert in the day.

Less coffee, much much less.

hobag82 · 26/03/2025 09:43

I have completely stopped smoking after 30 years. I still have cigarettes in the house as I just stopped one day and have not touched them since, so even though they are there I have no desire. 135 days so far without a cigarette!

Really, that’s interesting!! I’m just about to start my Mounjaro journey and suffer badly with psoriasis, which however is clear at the moment with biologics.

As biologics cost the NHS a fortune, I wonder If it does help clear psorasis in some patients - would be cheaper! 🤔

Julesni77 · 26/03/2025 10:04

My sleep apnea went instantly! That alone was worth it for me as I was on course for having to use a CPAP machine. My eczema is gone!

BananaSpanner · 26/03/2025 10:17

I’ve been on the MJ journey, completed it and 3 month off it now, haven’t regained any weight (have to watch calorie intake closely though)
It didn’t do anything for my Pepsi max habit but to be fair I only have one can a day before during and after MJ.
I think my immune system got better whilst on it, didn’t catch a single cold over winter which is unheard of for me. Currently have one now though.
Sleep was good but the downside was that I was fatigued and needed to be in bed each night by 9.30 at the latest.
Best bit by far for me was it cured my constipation. I’ve always been so prone to getting bunged up. On MJ-completely regular. Loved it, amazing how good that made me feel. This hasn’t lasted post MJ unfortunately.

Downsides for me were the fatigue, hair loss, nausea and dizzy spells. I loved what the drug did for me but I was glad to come off it after 6-7 months.

@hobag82 that is absolutely incredible. WOW.

MooBaggage · 26/03/2025 10:27

Yep - the weight loss is almost secondary now for me, compared to the other benefits:

My plantar fasciitis went within 3 days of starting on MJ - I'd had it for years and had every available treatment and was in pain all the time.

I was a functional alcoholic and have stopped drinking - all desire to drink has gone and when I've had a drink I haven't enjoyed it - this is just bonkers to me as pre-MJ, what to drink was my first waking thought.

My IBS has completely disappeared - no more stress about leaving the house and where the nearest loo is.

So, my life has changed completely - and I'm losing weight, which is also fantastic 😊

dothehokeycokey · 26/03/2025 11:04

I feel
so much more alert during the day after only 6 days on it so far.
brain fog seems better

im awake and up doing stuff early rather than dragging myself out of bed.

my skin is so much clearer and my joints don’t ache so much after a long day standing at work.

looking forward to any other

Wow, just loving all these responses! Making me sooo excited. The poster who mentioned giving up smoking, wow, how amazing is that! I have a vape from time to time, would love to not fancy that anymore…

interesting the Diet Coke theme. Is it addictive then?

Seems Mounjaro can help with addition too xx

I haven't drunk Diet Coke, or any other diet type drink since starting Mounjaro, so that's about 9 months now. I just don't like it at all, it tastes super sweet and sickly and I just am not interested.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 26/03/2025 18:05

My plantar fasciitis has gone and I don't really drink Fizzy drinks anymore. I stopped drinking them the days before and after injecting as I was struggling with wind. I think it did help that, but I've not really got the urge to drink them now which can only be good for my health. I've got from 2 to 3 litres a day to maybe 2-3 cans a week? Also haven't had a takeaway in weeks, so hopefully cutting all that will help the injections pay for themselves

Really hope my plantar goes too! How long did it take?

DappledOliveGroves · 26/03/2025 18:19

Aside from the weight loss, I find myself spending less money each month on stuff I don’t need. Since it seems to dull dopamine receptors somehow, there’s no longer the urge to buy things to get a ‘hit’. So that’s a bonus!

taylorswift1989 · 26/03/2025 18:24

I only started on Saturday so maybe it's too soon to say but I feel like a completely different person! So much calmer. I went out for a nice meal with family last night and left half of mine - didn't even think about it. I enjoyed the food I ate but just naturally stopped when I'd had enough. That's never happened to me, ever! It feels so calm and gentle to not be constantly plagued by food noise.

Motnight · 26/03/2025 18:26

I have lost just under 5 stone. Aches and pains have gone. Sleep better but feel more tired so not sure how much of a win that actually is! Drink a little less alcohol but still love it 🤣

Spending less money on food. Found loads of clothes and boots that I have bought over the years but they didn't fit and I never returned them, and they now fit.

On the minus side - people now sit next to me on the bus! I was frankly so big that people only sat next to me if they absolutely had to. Now I have noticed that I very very rarely get a double seat to myself!

As a PP has said everything is just so much easier. And I still have lots of weight to lose

RhaenysRocks · 26/03/2025 18:33

@Motnight that's great ..can I ask how long the 5st took to lose and what dose you took..I'm about to start and want to lose similar.

Really hope my plantar goes too! How long did it take?

A few months, but it had been there for over a year and I was in the process of looking at going private for steroid injections having already tried sports massage, physio, loads of stretches and suddenly it just started easing off.

Hope yours goes too!
