Welcome to thread 9 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we head towards Easter Egg season, celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W21 D1 and on my first 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 0.8lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 38.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

@MsRumpole. Was that on the scales themselves? Mine just show my weight on the actual scale. If I want any of the other data it’s on the app.

A positive looking article in the guardian this week. It looks like the study is being presented in Malaga next month. It’s not clear to me if this is the group the continued to take MJ. But positive to keep the weight off.

People using drug Mounjaro sustain weight loss over three years, trial finds

Interesting article - thank you for sharing.

@Cantbesure I see! Can you stop it from showing you BMI at all? It's just such a useless measure for me thanks to my bonkers proportions

My rhenpho app front screen only shows my weight. If I click on the device it then shows the BMI but you can reorganise the order that you see the results so you could hide it I think?

Eeeeeep! I had a whoosh this week 🤩🥳 so many mini victories as a result! I lost 3.5 lbs, which means I’ve now lost 4st! And I’ve gone down a number on the scales 🤩 and as of today I am merely overweight rather than obese!!!!

And just to keep it coming, I tried on a very old (pre children) pair of 16 jeans that I loved too much to get rid of. A few weeks ago they didn’t make it all the way up my thighs, but today not only did they go up over my bum, THEY FASTENED!!! Ok, it wasn’t pretty, but still, I think another stone and they will be comfy!

SW: 18st 12.7lbs
CW: 14st 11lbs
GW: 12st 7lbs

I can’t get over the fact the weight is still coming off at a reasonable rate, and that goal actually feels very doable! That enormous 6+ stone that I had to lose always felt too enormous, but here I am over halfway there!!

This is awesome to read! 👏

A Whoosh, 3.5lbs loss in a week, your 4 stone rosette plus dropping into another stone bracket AND jeans that fit with no shapewear is the week of dreams my friend. Buy a lottery ticket today - you are on a roll! 🥳

3 years for the study not 4. I still have fat typing fingers 😂

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 12/04/2025 15:11

That study is interesting because it tracks people who stay on MJ at either 5mg, 10mg or 15mg, and it doesn’t seem to matter which dose you stay on, it still works. Across all participants, the average weight regain was only 3.7%. That’s amazing! I do wish someone would study people coming off, though - I’d rather not pay for MJ for the rest of my life.

Good Morning lovely friends in my phone! Happy Sunday!

I’ve been ‘wellness’ shopping from my bed after reading the Sunday papers 😂

Purchases this morning in case they are of interest to anyone include :

  1. advanced snail 96 Mucin Power Essence - not for the squeamish if you don’t like the thought of snail mucus on your face (fair enough). Apparently a game changer for plumper skin if followed by a great moisturiser) I do not like India knight at all (very questionable husband) but she has recommended products that have actually worked previously including the next purchase:
  2. Sweed eyelash growth serum. Have used this for a couple of years every night. My eyelashes are insanely long and the right length for eyelash lifts which I have every 8 weeks..
  3. More of the Revive Collagen Enhanced Plus Premium Liquid Marine Collagen Drink 10,000mgs 28 Sachets- on offer at Holland and barrett at £57 but then I got a further discount of 22% by downloading the H&B app so it worked out at £45 - there’s actually 25% off a £35 spend in the app today so if anyone is stocking up on items at H&B get in quickly. I’m giving collagen a go for 90 days before deciding if it is emperors new clothes or not 😂
  4. Magnesium 60 Gummies - £19.99 before the 22% discount - I bought these after reading up on magnesium supplements assisting with better sleep/muscle creation in a Times article yesterday.

https://www.thetimes.com/life-style/health-fitness/article/im-a-lifelong-insomniac-can-magnesium-help-me-sleep-78zt2bxt7

I also bought two books for holiday after hearing both authors interviewed or recommended on woman’s hour ( in case anyone is looking for a holiday read). :

  1. All The Other Mothers Hate Me by Sarah Harman
  2. ’so thrilled for you’ by Holly Bourne

It’s just the two of us for lunch today so I’ve got pork ribeye steaks (stocked at Waitrose, looks great value) for DH to grill on the barbie ( I’m going to brush them with butter and thyme and a little sea salt) and have with a salad. It’s Sunday so the routine here is a glass of champagne (or 5 😂) to enjoy during the Grand Prix after having my Tom Hardy fix in the latest episode of Guy Ritchie’s Mobland (excellent and available on paramount plus) and wait for DD to send us pics from her myriad of Uni Balls this weekend ( oh to be young again!)

Enjoy the ☀️wherever you are!

I did as a result buy these :

https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/novomins-magnesium-60-gummies-6100004211

plus more of the Revive Collagen plus drinks (on offer for 28 sachets for £57) but even cheaper as there is a 25% discount off a £35 spend today (only if you use the Holland and Barrett app), so today is the day to stock up… I’m giving collagen 90 days to see if it makes a difference.

I also bought some of this after reading an article in The Times which apparently gives very plump skin of a good moisturiser is applied after it (this might not be for everyone given the product content 🐌) it is available in Boots etc.

https://www.cosrx.com/products/advanced-snail-96-mucin-power-essence

It’s Sunday so that means watching the Grand Prix here with a glass (or 5 😂) of champagne. DH likes to make Parmesan, chilli and fennel biscuits to have with a pre lunch drink (he’s a keeper) It’s just the two of us today so barbie for lunch as the sun is shining. We’re having pork rib eye steaks from Waitrose (excellent value) with thyme butter and a nice salad.

Enjoy the sunshine everyone!

Great loss @Caplin

I've not found collagen to make any difference but I wasn’t super consistent at getting it in me. Hope the drinks do the trick for you @Mounjaropen

Ive been losing like crazy this week 3kg so far. I could be out of the 90s and into the 80s next week.
After losing just half a kg in a month I was more than due a whoosh.

Loving the sunshine, it’s getting my steps up for sure.

A few weeks ago I bought a size 14 dress in the sea salt outlet as it was only £20 thought it would be good to slim into. Forgot all about it. Tried it on today and it fits, it has a very forgiving skirt so not kidding myself that I’m actually a 14 yet but it’s on the horizon.

last week was my first “healthy” weigh in and today I’ve maintained so I’m happy with that as is was a rough week with sleep deprivation and low ferritin. I’m making myself take the iron tablets even though I hate them. It does make sense, when I’m exhausted my body craves junk - quick energy. I’m on annual leave this week and actually managed to do something practical yesterday (painting some newly rendered wall by our new patio… in time for the rain 🙄😂).

dh is being amazingly supportive of my exhaustion and doing far more than his share.

we have a fridge full of healthy food and no rushing around this week. Here’s hoping I can shift another lb or two and do something that resembles exercise above walking.

Arglefraster · 13/04/2025 17:13

I'm a magnesium pusher 🙈 amazing stuff & the soil is deficient due to modern farming practices so we don't get as much in food as we should. When I skip magnesium for a few days my sleep goes to pot & I can almost set a timer for a migraine.

After many years DH finally started taking it consistently & low and behold hasn't been woken by leg cramps since.

I take beef collagen (fish intolerance) & have done for several years now after reading a very small study that found it helped with extremely dry skin - mine improved greatly. No idea about wrinkles or elasticity though as mine is still full of fat!

Goldleafcat · 13/04/2025 18:48

Thanks for the recommendations @Mounjaropen . I’ve got magnesium too (I’ve been building up my supplement arsenal!). To be honest my sleep isn’t too bad yet but cosleeping with a toddler is not the best at times!

@PinkArt I’m so pleased you are ok. That must have been terrifying. I can also relate to the fear of not being able to find new clothes. My holiday concern over the years has often been that - so much so I would pack some knickers, a bra, a top (or two) and some trousers in my hand luggage! Especially when I went to Thailand!

I did reformer this morning and it was great! My back is continuing to improve. I think my lack of core strength is definitely an issue and lifting a nearly 3 year old (who is super tall) is contributing to issues.

I’m also thinking of seeing the GP about HRT. Any advice / guidance? I was thinking patches sound handy but a friend went from gel to patches and found all her symptoms came back. Mind you I’ll be going from nothing so they may help loads!

random223 · 13/04/2025 18:58

Checking in with this week's weight loss - I have barely scraped a pound - but it does make 3 stone in total! Going to treat myself to some new trainers. Well done everyone on keeping going this week.

I've been on the patches just over a week. So far, all good. A friend is on the gel and she says it can take a few months to stabilise/kick in, so I am waiting to see. I went patches due to convenience and they haven't come unstuck, which I thought they might, so that's all good. I went with the online Boots doctor to save attempting to get a GP appointment, and it was really straightforward.

KentishMama · 13/04/2025 20:20

NSV.

I've grown up with a very fashionable mother who was always skinny. She's a bit of a feeder though, so my sibling and I have always had weight issues.
Anyway, I'm visiting her right now. She's a bit bigger than she was in her youth, but still very slim (used to be 8-10, now 10-12 I guess). I just told her I'm going to start stealing her designer clothing. She laughed. Until I tried on the very nice Ralph Lauren skirt that she bought last summer, and it fits me better than her... Hahahaha! Who is laughing now?!

Yay, another 3 stone rosette! Well done!

In a similar vein to being able to buy clothes wherever you go, I managed to buy a strapless bra in Tesco that only bloody fit. 36D - that’s the smallest cup size I’ve worn in probably 12 years. I was 36GG starting this. Slightly conflicted about this NSV because my boobs have deflated so much, but it came in handy yesterday.

Anewdawnanewname · 13/04/2025 20:53

Had a weird one tonight. Prepped my own like normal and went to insert the needle, and it slightly hurt but also didn’t look like it was going in. I wasn’t sure if it was going to go in, as I was adding pressure but could still see the needle, whereas it usually disappears into the skin. I moved it away and was going to try again, but a little spot of blood appeared and so I could tell it had scratched the surface at least. I got a new needle out and moved to a different place and it went ok, but sure what went wrong the first time. They sent me some different needles this time and I don’t think I like them.
