Welcome to thread 9 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we head towards Easter Egg season, celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W21 D1 and on my first 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 0.8lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 38.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Aw @MsRumpolesorry to hear you are feeling glum. At slimming world we sometimes called the scales the sad step. As it’s not unusual for you to gain so much pre-menstruallly try not to let it get you down. You’d have had to have been doing man vs food challenges 3x a day for that to be fat gains. Are you on HRT? I love my HRT whilst being the world’s worst at remembering to change my patch…

@random223glad I could help to reassure you. I think all providers will keep prescribing until BMI 23 but there are some like oushk who go quite low. Like you I’m never going to go near that! I probably won’t get as low as 23.

My scales have been up and down all week it’s been quite odd. But I’m definitely logging today’s weight! This morning I am .4lbs above target. And about 3lbs lighter than I ever thought I’d be. BMI of 24.4 🎉🎉🎉

Feeling a bit glum. I think I am premenstrual (am also peri so it's hard to predict) and I have gained about 10lb since last week. That's quite common for me, and if I am premenstrual that will all come off with a bit extra when my period starts, but right now it is just very depressing!

Oh that is hard and completely understandable that you feel down in the dumps. The only saving grace about being older is no monthly fluctuations- the downside is that you are overall likely to be heavier….😭

Keep going - you have hormones rushing about right now but this time next week you’ll be more than 10lbs lighter and feeling more optimistic. The key to getting through it unscathed will be mindful food choices this weekend. Have a treat - maybe a small choc snack, a massage, watch a lovely film or go for a walk - anything that boosts your mood. You’ve got this 💪🏻

@Mounjaropenbeen on the list 2 year I am excited but starting to panic how will i cope silly things

You will cope. You are lighter and therefore more mobile than you were in November. Focus on the fact that you taking control of your weight loss means you have moved yourself to the front of the queue. No mean feat with the other stresses you have in your life. You’ve got this 💪🏻

I’m only on 50% although my scales seem to think that’s ideal 🙄

I used to have a fairly muscle-defined shape in certain areas, such as my bum, and now it’s kind of flat and sagging a bit, which annoys me. Muscle is just so hard to build so it’s sad that I’ve lost so much.

But I just struggle to eat enough to maintain it for starters.

I used to be an avid weight trainer, I can lift pretty heavy weights (close to max on many of the machines in the gym), just struggling to find the energy to work out atm.

I reckon maybe I’ll just lose some more and then go on a proper bodybuilding programme?! I don’t even know anymore 😂 All I know is I just keep losing more and more with any cardio I do.

If it helps, I’ve been doing all of the ‘right’ things and still have ‘Ozempic arse’ it is waaaaay flatter than it ever was. I had fanciful ideas that I would emerge after this journey with Kim Kardashian’s arse, but sadly not.

How are your macros? Are you anywhere near 1-2g of protein per day? Are you eating more than your BMR after cardio%? You will feel tired if there isn’t enough fuel in the tank. The answer will be hidden in the data. Keep going!

Oh this is interesting thanks. I’ve gone back to the beginning of my MJ journey and now and my muscle mass has increased from 59.8% to 66.7%. This is reassuring as it can be a worry to be the muscle weight drop on the scales, but obviously that’s alongside losing weight overall.

I can’t go back as I didn’t have the fancy scales. I have compared my MeThreeSixty results and have reduced my body fat % by 6% though, so I’ll take that. Well done on getting over 66% muscle mass though! 👏👏👏

@Cantbesure what scales do you have?

Cantbesure · 12/04/2025 09:52

@MsRumpoleI have some in smart scales that I got off Amazon. If I was buying again I’d probably get the Renpho ones as I like the way the app looks over mine. But I like being able to track my progress on these. https://amzn.eu/d/3Wtf0uy

Is anyone else concerned about muscle loss? I was just looking at data today and I have lost 17lb of muscle. About 25lb in fat. For me that's huge muscle loss.

Granted I have been far less active as I used to be in terms of weight training, and can barely bring myself to eat some days. So feel like I need to force myself to eat more, more protein, and maybe work with a personal trainer. It's just hard to maintain muscle with no appetite.

While I like my new look overall after losing 3st, I don't like seeing things sagging, which wasn't an issue for me before.

I've definitely lost muscle but I had 2 months with zero motivation to go to the gym. I now have my gym mojo back and after seeing everything in changing room mirrors yesterday, I'm back to lifting heavy weights tomorrow definitely!

SerenePeer · 12/04/2025 10:05

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 11/04/2025 23:44

Does that not mean you’ve lost 7 inches off your bust measurement? I might not be getting my maths right after quite a lot of wine, but I thought each cup size was an inch, so G is 9 inches, plus the band size of 38 = 47 inches? And a 34FF is 42 inches? I really hope I’m not massively offending you if these sound like crazy numbers!

I've actually no idea! My norks now no longer enter the room before me though!

Ha ha. Mine too. I was a 34k in November. DH is concerned they will be AA’s at the end of the journey. I’ve reassured him that at 8.5stone at 18 they were still DD’s 😂

Thank you! I have felt similar, just no energy/ interest in working out. I’ll go to the gym but I’ll just have a light swim, I often feel too light headed to work out properly.

I just feel like I’m in ‘starvation mode’ so body is trying to preserve itself by telling the brain to do very little. I genuinely struggle to eat enough to fuel workouts though.

And then I see a slightly saggy figure in the gym mirror as opposed to someone toned albeit bigger. I like my new slimmish body but for the first time I feel like my body looks like that of an older woman.

Perhaps I’m just making excuses and am simply lazy 😂

Oh yes, I did have some Renpho scales at one point a few years ago but I hated that you couldn't get rid of the BMI scale. My goal weight is set within overweight and I found the fact that I would never been in green so unmotivating that I had to ditch them 😳

Cantbesure · 12/04/2025 11:09

@MsRumpole. Was that on the scales themselves? Mine just show my weight on the actual scale. If I want any of the other data it’s on the app.

A positive looking article in the guardian this week. It looks like the study is being presented in Malaga next month. It’s not clear to me if this is the group the continued to take MJ. But positive to keep the weight off.

No, it was on the app and I seem to remember that you couldn't remove it so I had this big red "YOU ARE SHIT" flag every time I opened it, which was only ever going to go down to "YOU ARE QUITE SHIT" as my ideal weight is a good stone or two above BMI for my height (massive boobs and bum at all weights and health states you see)

Cantbesure · 12/04/2025 11:20

Fair enough @MsRumpole no one wants to be told something that makes them feel crap. I was going to screenshot my app Home Screen but it looks like attaching photos is currently disabled. You have to click into a second page to see the red/amber/greens. Annoyingly mine still says I’m amber for weight even in a healthy BMi so I don’t look at that one often!

Cantbesure · 12/04/2025 11:21

Oh it’s letting me post now. The first screenshot is what you see when opening the app. The judgement is on another page!

@Cantbesure I see! Can you stop it from showing you BMI at all? It's just such a useless measure for me thanks to my bonkers proportions

Cantbesure · 12/04/2025 11:41

grr @MsRumpole it looks like the screenshots uploaded in the wrong order. So the one with big squares is the home page. The list is the one you have to click to find.

I don’t think you can delete the BMi though. I understand being triggered. Until I got below 9 I weighed in kilos as I have no emotional attachment to those numbers.

Caplin · 12/04/2025 12:01

Eeeeeep! I had a whoosh this week 🤩🥳 so many mini victories as a result! I lost 3.5 lbs, which means I’ve now lost 4st! And I’ve gone down a number on the scales 🤩 and as of today I am merely overweight rather than obese!!!!

And just to keep it coming, I tried on a very old (pre children) pair of 16 jeans that I loved too much to get rid of. A few weeks ago they didn’t make it all the way up my thighs, but today not only did they go up over my bum, THEY FASTENED!!! Ok, it wasn’t pretty, but still, I think another stone and they will be comfy!

SW: 18st 12.7lbs
CW: 14st 11lbs
GW: 12st 7lbs

I can’t get over the fact the weight is still coming off at a reasonable rate, and that goal actually feels very doable! That enormous 6+ stone that I had to lose always felt too enormous, but here I am over halfway there!!

Cantbesure · 12/04/2025 12:07

Wow Caplin. 4 stone is AMAZING!! 🎉🎉🎉

I have found this write up so it’s clear the guardian article references those in the original surmount study who stayed on MJ for 4 years and took at least 75% of scheduled
doses.
