Welcome to thread 9 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we head towards Easter Egg season, celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W21 D1 and on my first 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 0.8lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 38.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I couldn’t be arsed to fiddle about taking out the packets of sand so I am wearing it currently on my dog walk. I can’t believe I was carting around nearly twice as much as this my shoulders are killing me. Good job Ddog has slowed down because he is 75 kg and I won’t be running after him if he decides something else takes his fancy 😂

I have a lunch with old school friends tomorrow and two of us are on MJ. The plan is for not to become boozy, but the last time this happened and it was a sunny day we sank more than two bottles of rose each following champagne starters and Bailey seemed like a good idea after all of that. 😂

Champagne starters are always a good idea!

hi everyone! still lurking and enjoying reading these fab updates. I'm now
week 19:
5ft 7
SW 199.9LB
CW 163 LB
target weight: prob around 145lb

Loving this feeling, but also losing 37lb in around 5 months means that I feel uber slim now, even though I am still overweight bmi! it's a weird one. I know some people have said they still feel "fat", but I think I have the opposite problem, in that I feel really thin (prob how I got to being an obese bmi in first place!) 😂 In reality I need to keep going and still have lots of fat around my middle especially. But oh my goodness do I feel better all round!

Welcome! Brilliant result so far! Keep going.

I totally get your pov. I also feel like a size 8 then I catch myself bending down in my undies and realise that is my tummy I can feel hitting my thighs 😂 In reality I am more than 2 stone heavier than when I was 18, a size 8 and could wear anything. I am hoping that the next stone brackets will eliminate my jowls 😩

W23D4 - having a slightly hectic week with the Easter holidays and sickness bugs (of course, why wouldn’t we want to be stuck indoors during the holidays when it’s sunny?!)

S/W 16st 7
C/W 11st 4
G/W I’ve rethought this and settled on 10st 9 and a BMI of 24

It’s so good to hear everyone’s positive results, on and off the scales. Especially impressive are the fitness updates - I am in awe! Well done everyone!

WellyBootsandPuddleSuits · 10/04/2025 13:17

@Mounjaropen 75kg? I thought my beast of a dog was heavy at 40kg! Have you noticed a difference walking them? Mine can be slightly vocal and pulls on lead, which wasn’t really an issue at my original weight but now I can’t anchor myself as firmly and I can tell other owners avoid us (she’s incredibly friendly, amazing off lead, but looks and sounds like a nightmare if she’s in the wrong mood and someone in a high vis jacket/runner/ happy little dog goes by!)

this is t exactly! I'm at least 20lb from being the size I was in pictures where I felt like I looked great and still healthy. so yes, I will keep going!

Me three! I feel really slim (probably because all my clothes are now too loose so they’re slouching beautifully/falling off). But I’d like to settle at BMI 23/24, which is somewhere between 9 stone and 9 stone 5 for me at 5’2”, so potentially another stone to go. I’m now worrying a lot more than I did before about loose skin/wrinkles/hair loss. At the start I think I was kidding myself about how much I actually had to lose - thought a couple of stone would do it. Now I’m grudgingly aware that it’s 3 to 3.5, and probably around 25-30% of my starting weight.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 10/04/2025 14:20

But I really don’t want to go down to a BMI of 20 like some people on the weight loss threads - it’s not that I think I would look gaunt, but I do think I’d be much more likely to have loose skin if I dropped to 8 stone or less, and also, then I really would have to replace my entire wardrobe which I don’t want to do!

I am enjoying my LED mask for face and scalp .

There is a thread on here about polynucleotide injections. After reading everyone’s replies I have decided this is not for me. I have many fine lines appearing on my face which I am not liking, so after some research, I have purchased Tretinoin cream. This is a cream for acne but there is evidence to suggest it very much helps with fine lines. I am taking it slowly, this week I applied it on Tuesday night, next application is 3 days later, on Friday.

Well done to everyone on the great losses, we can do this 💪

Edited

Ooh please let us know you get on with the tretinoin. I’ve been reading up on this. Where did you purchase it from? I’ve seen it available through places like skin & me and Dermatica but not sure I want to have to subscribe for the skincare (as I only want part of it!). In the mean time I’ve introduced retinol serum (a low dose of 0.3%) a few times a week to build my skin up and go from there (I’ve also got a 1% and a 1.5% tube, and have seen medik8 do a fancy retinal too which is something I could build up to as well).

I am also tempted by polynucleotides, but the treatments do seem expensive and I have read mixed reviews too, especially for the cost.

That is a fantastic step count!

after reading this, not a chance am I taking this risk!

I bought Tretinoin from here. 0.025 % for first application. No prescription or subscription

Christ. That has decided it for me - it would be just my luck… I also have a shellfish allergy so I think it would be mega risky tbh.

OP posts:
Goldleafcat · 10/04/2025 18:48

Blimey! Based on this I’ll be leaving Polynucleotides well alone for quite some time, at least until more is known about side effects!

I’m still pondering Botox…

Cantbesure · 10/04/2025 21:00

Thanks for the link @lovealongbathI have just ordered.

Cantbesure · 10/04/2025 21:50

@SerenePeerwhen I wake up at 5am I think it’s the middle of the night and roll back over. I don’t get up and go to the gym so huge kudos.

reading about shortages of 12.5mg and 15mg. Has anyone been affected? I was interested in Oushk’s suggestion of taking a slower dose but very 5 days. I’m wondering if this might be a better idea than moving up to 10. My suppression is very high at the start of the week but def tails off. And that’s as I hit the weekend. Getting my steps in with dog walks this week.

phyllidafosset · 10/04/2025 22:27

I’m going to track back with some replies, but I thought you might appreciate my win for today. I have been away for work overnight, and my journey home from a train station in the middle of nowhere on a train with gross food resulted in a penguin, a packet of crisps and chocolate covered rice cakes for dinner.

BUT today I am wearing my miraculous jumpsuit which is the most insanely amazing item because it is stretchy tee-shit cotton and looked flattering at my largest and still looks like it fits nearly 3 stone lighter. But the real glory win is that, being as how it is MUCH more lose fitting than my jeans, I realised walking along that although do like my knickers lose, they are now so lose that they were in fact falling off 🤣🤣. A rather odd thing to realise on your way to work. So I will be ordering some new ones.

Sounds like an interesting proposition from Oushk? Good job with the steps. According to my phone I am taking an average of 3k steps more per day than last year…but I know a lot of that is me only wearing leggings with a side pocket nowadays so I’m recording more steps for sure.

OP posts:
phyllidafosset · 10/04/2025 22:37

@Cantbesure I’m deeply impressed by your 5k. I hate running, and every time I jump I worry about my pelvic floor. I think my metabolic age is a bit of a very lucky freak of genetics because I don’t think I deserve it.

@murraymcgill hope your appointment went well and you sleep the sleep of pride at your weight loss tonight 😊

@Bisognodelsole 4 stone is a fabulous achievement! Difference can be good 😊 And with those figures, it is great 🎉

Wow, an average of 3k more steps a day is fantastic. I’m sure you must be swapping fat for pounds, and speeding up your metabolism. All super useful for Long term health/maintenance and shape.

Has anyone had tight leg muscles on mounjaro? I’ve not been walking as much as I usually do this week and yet my calves feel like I’ve been in the gym. Tight and sore. It’s probably not jab related but worth asking the Q!

I have had tighter leg muscles for a few years before I started MJ. I was moving much less and working in a very un ergonomically friendly way, and I think perimenopause meant my body was just not letting me get away with what I used to. But going to the gym where I do a lot of stretching has made a massive difference to that and the planter fasciitis. Not sure if you are in that same age bracket, and if not you can ignore all of it and keep enjoying being young 🥰

Penguinmouse · 10/04/2025 23:13

Thanks @phyllidafosset - I’ve just turned 36 so would definitely be on the early side of perimenopause but worth keeping an eye on. I’m hoping it’s more because I’ve not been as active this week as no commute but going to get a walk in tomorrow and do some stretching. I’ve just pulled the massage gun on my legs, hoping that helps 😂

🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

FINALLY I can report to the friends in my phone….after 23 weeks I have lost 3 stone and earned my 3 stone badge!

Weigh in this morning is 10st 10.8lbs. 2 lbs lighter than last Friday but only 0.4lbs lighter than Monday (but that weigh did follow a bout of midnight vomiting and diarrhoea following wine and red meat feast on Sunday 🙈). Step count since Saturday is 53,563 so I should hit at least 63,000 for the week by the end of today. I’ll have completed 5 Pvolve classes, weighted incline treadmill walks and played tennis twice in order to lose that 0.4lbs 😬. I’m thinking that Maintenance post MJ does look like it is gonna take quite some effort….

On the upside my scales data markers are all green ✅…..but subcutaneous fat is still amber (27%) and I am still metabolically one year older than my actual age 😩
