Welcome to thread 9 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we head towards Easter Egg season, celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W21 D1 and on my first 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 0.8lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 38.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Oh those ‘don’t lose any more weight’ comments really annoy me too! Not had those for a bit (some way to go before they kick in I think!). Sometimes I think people think they are being nice but really it’s bloody cheeky (especially when it’s from people who are loads thinner), and in some cases it’s from people who want you stay in your ‘chubby’ box. At the end of the day, it’s really none of their business and not appropriate to be making unprompted remarks about someone else’s weight.

We should keep a nice record of them though, a bit like a bingo card! The wilder the better! And share our witty come backs so we are prepared!

Just done the bonus dose from my 10mg pen, just over 0.7ml so about 11.7mg… perhaps a bridging dose before I start 12.5 next week! Eek!

Ooh - best of luck with the big guns dose!

Haha - I did lots of weight training while big so now you can see the muscles under the flab. I have the hint of a 6 pack from when I was running 10ks/half marathon in 2019 and 2020… but can’t face running that far again. It’s so boring 🥱

It's all about balance......

  • had not one but TWO 'you're not going to lose any more are you' comments at ballet last night (in a leotard too, so absolutely no-where to hide) 💪
  • have two DS's back from uni, last time they saw me I was 3 stone heavier, have they noticed? Of course not... 😂

Ha! Snap! Neither of my teen children have noticed anything different about me despite one not seeing me since Christmas. I'm kinda glad though.

Just popped in and it’s lovely to read how everyone is doing.

End week 19 for me, wow where did that time go?

I lost 4lb this week, but I have joined a small hotel health club last week, pool and small gym.

I think the real me has been taken by aliens as the old me wouldn’t be seen in a gym….

I am staying on 5mg as working great for me, my suppression is good every day. I am enjoying eating good food, and am usually 300-500 under my calorie deficit each day.. I eat late breakfast and then meal later, plus fruit and yogurt as desert..

My total loss is 47lb, I did however have a 1lb gain last week after another week away in hotel, few drinks and food I wouldn’t have if I was at home and not away….. I am having good losses most weeks which offsets the breaks away… but that’s life and I refuse to deprive myself.

So I am 3lb off 50lb loss, and 9lb away from my 4 stone, I just can’t believe it, but I do have a lot more weight to lose so I’m here for long haul….

Sorry for long post, oh and nobody has asked me or noticed if I have lost weight, and I even see it myself!!!!

I'm on holiday with extended family and there is a much-loved but totally unfiltered elderly relative who has very pronounced views on being overweight 🙄 but the first thing she said when she saw me was how much weight I'd lost and actually not many people have commented so far so that was rather nice!

Whenever a new “long term effects” article pops up, I find myself thinking that it seems hard to tease out what is specifically an effect of the drug and what’s due to weight loss. Losing muscle with restricted eating/weight loss? Normal, weight training has been the counter to that for some time now. Reduced risk of some dementia, diabetes, etc? Well, sure.

I bet it will be hard to recruit a “diet only and keep the weight off” group to compare long term health outcomes to weight loss jabs. And what would the control be? People who don’t diet at all, or people who don’t need to? That would impact how that weight loss jabs group looks in comparison, too.

I think that’s a fair point.

I’m particularly interested in this area because both of my parents had dementia at the end of life. However, they were both heavy smokers in their lifetime, which my dad mitigated by being an active man, but my mother who had given up smoking in her 40s remain steadfastly sedentary. From this article and other articles campaigning for statin use, it does seem to be centred around your “bad cholesterol” reduction. Which I know from my own bloodwork has definitely happened. I guess the unknown is whether or not diet and exercise contributed the most to that change or the fact that the weight was finally coming off. There is a saying that what is good for your heart, is good for your brain… But obviously everyone is built differently and as we know from these threads, not everyone can tolerate the active ingredients in WLIs.

🥳 elderly relatives are a bit like toddlers though, aren’t they in terms of their unfiltered comments? 😂 glad you are getting the recognition though.

I’d also say, the last time I lost a lot of weight (about four stone) in the early 00’s was after I’ve been to a work event where I met up with an old and elderly customer. He clearly didn’t recognise me. When I re-introduced myself he said ““it can’t be, how did you get so fat?” (his exact words)I don’t think I’ve ever been so taken aback nor more embarrassed in all of my life, however I did go on the Atkins diet very next day 🤣

Meanwhile I’m slowly staggering around the house with crippling lower back pain 😩. Started Sunday afternoon and was particularly bad this morning. Thankfully ibuprofen seems to be helping a bit. In happier news I seem fine with the big guns dose of 11.7mg (so far!), which gives me reassurance for 12.5 next week.

Tiny waist and arms @TeenLifeMum. I sometimes think it would be nice to see what we all look like!

I think I might be having a midlife MJ crisis! I’ve ordered a cropped t shirt (from m&s, I’m not going too wild!) and like it on. And a NSV I’m still confused by (vanity sizing?) but I reordered my wide leg jeans in an 8 and they fit!

scales aren’t as positive. Somehow I’m 3lbs heavier than this time last week. Hoping my stomach bug just messed things up a bit and I’ll get back on track.

I have registered for a local 5k sundowner in a month and want to be able to finish without embarrassment 😂 and the lovely weather is getting me out on more walks. And I’m dog sitting for a week now so will need to get out a few times a day.

hope the sun is shining and the weight on the scales is shrinking 🌞 for you all this week.

Thanks for the article - just completed my 89th Pvolve work out 💪🏻

I know I sound evangelical about it but It really has been a game-changer for me - particularly giving me strength in my back. And I could never see the point/effect of Pilates previously. Just shows you that the instructor is everything…! I have very few aches and pains now - especially in the mornings. It has also given me back the ability to wear heels for extended periods of time - those tiny muscle movements are everywhere in the body!

Hope you feel better soon - back pain is the worst. Glad you are doing well on the large dose too.

Size 8 jeans!!? 🥳 Amazing.

Those 3 lbs will come off soon I bet. I’m also looking at cropped gym tops and I was NEVER that person before 😂

Obvs we need a picture of the dog.

OP posts:
TeenLifeMum · 08/04/2025 14:39

Wow, I won’t ever be a size 8. Even at my skinny stage running half marathons I was a 10-12 on the bottom. Big hips that weight loss can’t change. I’m still wearing a few 14s but they’re massive so probably look ridiculous.

Cantbesure · 08/04/2025 15:22

You have a skinny waist though @TeenLifeMum. We are all different shapes and sizes. I will never be an 8 up top, even though my boobs have shrunk. And my weight definitely gathers around my middle and I have the saggy skin to Prove it!

your Pvolve commitment is amazing @Mounjaropen I def need to step up my exercise game. It’s been a while since I’ve done anything at the gym. I can see the appeal of cropped gym tops now where I’ve always worn oversized t shirts! Let us know if you take the plunge. I will have to read up again on pvolve. Toning and strengthening are key goals now.

for info a family member has been diagnosed with gallstones since being on MJ and is now on a waiting list for removal. They were concerned it would mean the end of the MJ journey but Oushk have been happy to continue to monitor them and if all is ok to keep on. They are very relieved.

my target seems to be getting further away as I’m gaining rather than losing! I have a 10mg pen in the fridge for next Monday.

sorry to hear about your back @Goldleafcat I hope it eases soon.

Anewdawnanewname · 08/04/2025 15:31

I’m struggling a bit recently. I was on 5mg and only losing .4 of a pins for a few weeks. So I’ve got the 7.5 pen and didn’t want to jump straight up incase I didn’t handle it well, so did 50 clicks. I’m going to have to do the full 60 next week. I’m not massively feeling hungry, but if I see something then I’m not able to leave it. And I’m finishing meals and I’m more interested in eating “nicer” (read: unhealthier) meals.

Don't panic. You will most likely be able to tolerate 7.5mg (I did 6.25mg, then 7.5mg).

You may well be wanting to eat out of boredom tho. Change your focus - I start cleaning the fridge/do some ironing/admin/ do some necessary but boring stuff until the moment passes. Or do some movement for 15 mins - a quick Joe wicks or something? Check both your protein intake and your water intake - both will help you make better choices because the hunger won't sneak up on you quickly.

Think about what is 'nicer' about the food you want. Is it quicker/convenient? (if so, prep some veg/fruit in the fridge to stave off a snack attack) or Is it 'naughty'? (maybe do what I do and make some lower calorie treats like popcorn rocky road bars) or is it tastier/spicer foods that you want? Could you elevate your current dish repertoire to eat tastier/spicier foods? Or do you simply 'miss' something? If that is the case, go and have a Maccy D's or whatever - it might not be as fantastic as you remember how it used to be now that you probably haven't had one for weeks/months and your taste buds have changed.

Keep going - you've got this💪
