Welcome to thread 9 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we head towards Easter Egg season, celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W21 D1 and on my first 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 0.8lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 38.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

@Mounjaropen my descent down the 10s has been painfully slow! But today I celebrate as I finally hit 10st 5 - officially not “over weight”.

I want to get more comfortably into the healthy zone but I am in it so just need to keep going. Will I still be able to get another pen at this weight though? I know people have talked about it but I didn’t pay attention because it felt so far off for me.

Woohoo well done!

From what I’ve read you should be able to - some supplier offer maintenance plans which you can switch to as long as you evidence you’ve been using MJ etc. Which supplier do you use? You could ask and see - hopefully they will support you.

TeenLifeMum · 03/04/2025 10:05

I’m with Asda (not sure why as it’s more expensive than others but the friend who inspired me used them and I can walk to collect so I just went with that rather than shop around).

i have 2 more weeks in this pen so I’m thinking one more pen then I will try without.

Goldleafcat · 03/04/2025 10:39

Haha guess who’s getting Facebook ads for pre-loved Pelotons 😅

I’m with Boots - very similar - expensive but they deliver to my local pharmacy which is a 5 min walk. Somehow it feels ‘safer’ and more legit when they hand it over to me. Nonsense I know! I’ve had to apply a lot of willpower with MJ so I’m mulling over my approach to maintenance. Still quite a long way to go yet though.

It should be fine getting another pen. I switched providers to Oushk when I had just hit a healthy BMI, and I’d had similar concerns. It was fine, though!

LilyRose88 · 03/04/2025 14:42

Asda has told me that they will offer me a maintenance plan as they are backed by Zavi who also offer maintenance doses. I’m only a few lbs off my goal weight so I’ll report back once I have secured my maintenance plan.

Wow, I am so impressed with the amount of exercise you’ve been doing! St Jennifer of Aniston would be proud!

Well obviously Hollywood will be calling any day to get me to stand in for St Jen as a body double....😂

I'm now at 86 workouts which is more than 50+ hours of classes 😇- todays was particularly tough (39 mins of movement with heavy weights) especially before playing tennis but I do think that my arms in particular are benefitting and it does encourage you to challenge yourself. I'm currently following their specific GLP-1 program (30 classes in total) which is focussing on rebuilding lost muscle mass. I'm interested to see my final total of classes by the end of October when my subscription runs out!

Had a lovely pan-fried pork chop with thyme butter and salad for lunch followed by a whole pink grapefruit. Sometimes we forget about pork - it is great source of lean protein and I find that higher-welfare produce is more affordable than chicken/salmon/tuna etc.

Thanks for the recommendations @Penguinmouse @Mounjaropen and @SerenePeer. The Peloton truly looks amazing but it’s outside of my budget (at least at the moment during the nursery fee phase!). On reflection, perhaps a walking pad probably is the best option for me, at least at the moment, as proof of concept (will I use it?!), it’ll be cheaper and easier to store too. Anything to get me more active!

The scales tell me I’ve lost another pound so I’ll make this my formal weight check in day:

SW: 16 stone 7lbs (highest ever weight was over 20 stone)
CW: 13 stone 9lbs (2lbs till 3 stone lost!)
TW: 11 stone (if I get there, considering 10 stone 7)

My BMI has gone from 37.4 to 30.8. Getting closer to just being ‘overweight’.

This is the lightest I’ve been since summer 2021.

Another 1lb! WooHoo!

You are right, any movement is better than no movement and walking pads are having their moment right now so if you need to resell it, you probably could with ease.

I do feel grateful that we escaped the unbelievable nursery fee costs that the younger generation are facing so I do feel for you. My friend runs an outstanding Nursery and is frustrated about how much she needs to charge to run it just to break even.

Woo hoo for you too! You are nearer to 9 stone than you are 11....👏

I have a call booked with Oushk to discuss this at the end of the month. I'll need to order another pen in a couple of weeks time but I think I'll go with 5mg as 7.5mg has made no difference for the extra expense for me.

I’ve just ordered 10mg as the 12.5 is so much extra and I think the 10 along side will power will be enough. Hopefully I won’t regret that decision.

Cantbesure · 03/04/2025 18:16

I have my bonus dose this weekend and then I have a 10mg in the fridge. My stomach bug has taken me 1lb away from my target but I don’t suddenly feel slim so I will prob see if I can continue to lose weight for at least another pen.

Im so sorry for everyone who is facing such difficult times in their lives. It’s amazing you are still continuing on this journey.

I’m so grateful for our cosy corner of the web. I wonder if I’d have given up by now without this community.

I've noticed no discernible difference between 5 and 7.5 (save for the fact I have lost less weight!) so I reckon you'll be fine.

Does anyone have savoury breakfast ideas that aren’t eggs? I’m a bit egged out and usually have banana and chia but maybe I need more savoury?

@TeenLifeMum one of my go to’s is a slice of Jason’s ciabattin. (111 cals) Butter. A nice thick layer of full fat cream cheese (about 25/30g) and 30g of smoked salmon. Lemon. A grind of pepper and Birds Eye chilli 👌🏽 Because of the fat content it keeps me really full and isn’t too high in calories.

1lb away! How fab.

100% agree that this thread has made me accountable and grateful I am able to share the wins (and losses) with people going through the same thing without either looking like I am bragging about my successes nor boring the shite out of others about my bowel movements...😜. I reckon I'd have not been spurred onto really keeping at it without you all 💝(hoping that this heart emoji doesn't mean something dodgy after watching Adolescence on NF 😂)

Speaking of bowel movements, I have a TMI question. Has anyone else had what I can only describe as scratchy poos?! Is it a mounjaro thing, a constipation thing, a me thing? I've had over a decade of mostly diarrhoea so this is a brave new world for my colon!

Not here…but ‘scratchy’ normally means too hard and that normally indicates that you need to drink more water?

I had a tuna sandwich, Greek yogurt, half a packet of walkers crisps and blueberries today. Dinner was chicken ramen but I wasn’t hungry at all so didn’t eat any. Tomorrow I plan to eat a better lunch so if I’m not hungry in the evening at least I’ve eaten something healthy.

Mounjaropen · 04/04/2025 07:41

Friday weigh-in 10st 12.8lbs… 1.8lbs off since last week (🥳) so I’m nearly back on track 😅 but I’m not gonna lie, I don’t want to sound negative but it has been a slog this week and feels like I’ve had to make a Herculean effort to shift it. ‘Magic jab’ it is not as we know….you have to put a shift in. Total loss now is 40.2lbs so with a tail wind I should get to my 3 stone badge by next weekend and I’m on track to get to 10 stone before my big fat Greek holiday at the end of May (just under 8 weeks time but we do have Easter before then..)

It’s not that I’ve got food noise this week, it is more that I’m thinking about ways in which I can lose more weight/tone up more which I don’t want to become obsessive about. I know I have an addictive personality so I am being careful to check in with myself. I’ve also now seen that I have a varicose vein which looks like it’s about to pop up on my inner left thigh and I’ve never had any of those 😭

Interesting article in yesterday’s Times about the correlation between Dementia/Alzheimer’s and LDL cholesterol levels (high in this study being over 1.8) and whether or not we should all be on a statin to reduce the risk. Article here

In other news, (and because I like to think I am trendy 😂) I have a bar of the Lindt ‘Dubai Chocolate’ coming in the Ocado today to see what the fuss is about. I’m taking it with me when we stay with friends tomorrow night. I do love pistachio so I will report back to you all as to whether or not a square of it is worth the cost or calories (it bloody should be it is a tenner a bar) For the first time in forever I have no wine arriving in the shopping so I am cost off-setting 😉

happy Friday everyone!

UK’s most prescribed drug may reduce dementia risk by 13 per cent

Research found that taking statins may have a protective effect even for people whose cholesterol is already quite low

Joining the 💩 talk!
Constipation is the only side effect I have had - and as someone who previously suffered with IBS-D and pooped several times a day, only going to the toilet every couple of days is a novel experience! I’ve been taking fibre supplements since I started MJ, as I know I don’t get enough from my diet alone, but this week I changed when I take them - all advice was to take at bedtime for them to work overnight and result in a morning 💩. This rarely happened. I took them before à meal last week and was in the bathroom within an hour! Apparently they actually work better when your digestive system is active and they have other nutrients to work with - results are faster! So much so I had two poops yesterday for the first time in months.
