Welcome to thread 9 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we head towards Easter Egg season, celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W21 D1 and on my first 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 0.8lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 38.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Thinking of you both, @AlwaysTimeForWineamd @murraymcgill- sounds like you’re both going through some tough times.

I think we’re at the cusp of getting access to studies which show a longer term effect of MJ rather than under two years. I’d like to think now that I have sufficiently changed my exercise habits to be able to wean myself off MJ, but who knows? It might be that for some of us we need to consider some form of CBT training or equivalent to help understand why we have eaten to excess in the past. I think reading lots of information about UPFs and the considerable effort that food manufacturing companies go to to try and ensure that we are addicted to certain nutritiously invalid foods is also very helpful open (well it has been for me anyway)

I’ve been continuing my nutrition education according to Zoe predict study. Some interesting things I’ve taken from it to date:
-the information on packaging re food composition is less relevant than how you individually process foods
-wide variations in individual responses to foods
-you can influence your glucose control by changing the order of the food you eat
-move to savoury breakfasts can support your whole day glucose control

lots more to come I’m sure

murraymcgill · 02/04/2025 22:02

Thank you everyone it's appreciated and no Buenos tonight as I don't have any Smile

Sounds interesting! Thank you for sharing. There was a study recently about the effect of eating your greens first. Apparently even one mouthful before any other food group on your plate can make a difference to glucose spiking, fascinating stuff!

Does anyone have savoury breakfast ideas that aren’t eggs? I’m a bit egged out and usually have banana and chia but maybe I need more savoury?

My go to if I am eating brekkie/brunch at the weekend :

  • Plate of smoked salmon with avocado (smashed if I have time and can be arsed to add in a little chilli, lime and salt)
  • Egg and bacon ‘muffins’ - spritz a muffin tin with oil then wrap a piece of of streaky bacon so it lines the tin, crack an egg into that, sprinkle chives on top and bake at 180 for 20 mins
  • poached smoked haddock with a poached egg on top

I’m not usually fussy but not keen on fish/seafood - although I do eat salmon. Definitely no avocado though - slimy bites of disappointment 😂 clearly I’m fussier than I realised.

Sorry - grateful for ideas… this is why I’d rather have waffles and fruit 🙈 I can see why I ended up fat 🙄

lol. No offence taken at all!

We are conditioned by marketing to want sugary cereals, baked goods, UPF bread, juices etc but it is these products which create the spikes and encourages further consumption. If I eat a couple of boiled eggs for breakfast I have no hunger pangs. Eat fruit and a croissant and I’m ravenous 2 hours later…I love waffles at the weekend but I make them from scratch if I do have them (I serve with mascarpone, maple syrup and fruit) so I know what’s in them. If it is what you fancy, have a waffle but try and make a batch at home (freeze the rest) maybe?

@Mounjaropen that’s a good point. I have been having eggs but I’m just a bit bored. Greek yoghurt is my other go to but again, bored.

I’ve been much stricter re cake and only eat homemade (except the birthday cake dh bought me because he’s never baked so that might be a step too far).

initially on mj i lost my sweet tooth but it’s definitely back just not as strong and one sweet thing is enough.

Nigella’s Turkish eggs?

I also love a steak and eggs but I realise that everything I’m recommending is with eggs..sorry!

Turkish Eggs

If I hadn’t eaten the Turkish eggs at Peter Gordon’s restaurant, The Providores, I most certainly wouldn’t be tempted by the idea of poached eggs on Greek yogurt. I say that only to pre-empt any hesitancy on your part. For çilbir, pronounced “chulburr”...

Sorry for those of you dealing with horribly stressful situations right now 💐. It goes to show that life really does get in the way sometimes. Make the best decisions you can in the circumstances but more importantly, look after yourselves and cut yourselves some slack if you need to 🫶

Morning everyone,

After celebrating friends birthday on Saturday and a surprise afternoon tea for Mother’s Day on Sunday I am delighted that I have lost half a pound this week.

Weekly weigh in on 3.5mg dose..
jab number 20

SW 18st 4
CW 15 stone 12lbs
0.5lb loss this week
total loss so far 2 stone 6 lbs
SBMI 43
CBMI 38

Achievements this week ….
steps in the week = 60730

I have recently had a 7 session plan with chiropractor as I had pronounced curvature to the spine possibly due to carrying heavy bust and general bad posture. After my spine being readjusted, weight loss & boob shrinkage , I am significantly straighter with much better posture.

Bought an LED mask which will hopefully improve face, neck and thinning hair.

Well done to everyone on the great losses, we can do this 💪

Similar here - lost my sweet tooth but now do like a choc again or a few sweets. Not great but def can't eat the volumes of before! I can't eat eggs so mainly live on oats and natural yog and fruit for brek

Jellybaby30 · 03/04/2025 07:23

Loving all the support as we navigate further into our journeys. I don't post much but find the daily check in invaluable. I'm also stuck for a week or 2, at just above 100kg. Getting to 99.9kg marks being just over halfway in my loss but also from this weight on I look and feel much better ( I'm v tall). Finally starting to feel the loss at 19kg down.

So nice to see the sunny weather and not have the usual dread of summer! Happy Thursday all 🌟

Mounjaropen · 03/04/2025 07:46

Morning weigh in… 153.2lbs. Inching my way painfully slowly down the 10’s…that is not even a pound since last Saturday and I’m not hopeful of a whoosh either 😭

I’ve now hit 85 completed Pvolve workouts since November which I’m chuffed with. Planks are now quite enjoyable (although side planks are still tricky for me) Steps are up month on month too. I’m definitely keeping this up post MJ - the aches and pains of daily life have generally faded and my body does feel stronger - I can easily do over head reps in the classes with a 10lb weight where previously I’d have selected 3lbs…

Tennis day today and it is a beautiful day here so hopefully I’ll get to 152lbs something by tomorrow! 🤞

Wow, I am so impressed with the amount of exercise you’ve been doing! St Jennifer of Aniston would be proud!

Goldleafcat · 03/04/2025 08:49

Thanks for the recommendations @Penguinmouse @Mounjaropen and @SerenePeer. The Peloton truly looks amazing but it’s outside of my budget (at least at the moment during the nursery fee phase!). On reflection, perhaps a walking pad probably is the best option for me, at least at the moment, as proof of concept (will I use it?!), it’ll be cheaper and easier to store too. Anything to get me more active!

The scales tell me I’ve lost another pound so I’ll make this my formal weight check in day:

SW: 16 stone 7lbs (highest ever weight was over 20 stone)
CW: 13 stone 9lbs (2lbs till 3 stone lost!)
TW: 11 stone (if I get there, considering 10 stone 7)

My BMI has gone from 37.4 to 30.8. Getting closer to just being ‘overweight’.

This is the lightest I’ve been since summer 2021.
