Welcome to thread 9 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we head towards Easter Egg season, celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W21 D1 and on my first 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 0.8lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 38.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Snap!! Same here! Just seem to have stalled over the last two weeks :(
I keep telling myself it’s going to whoosh but it also feels like my body has gone ‘hold up, you’ve lost enough (I haven’t!) so we’ll stay here for a while’

Joining the stuck gang, although I also know I'm not moving enough or eating enough. Stuck in that cycle of not eating enough so feel really lethargic, so sack off the gym and sit on my bum, so feel lazy, don't eat enough because I'm not hungry, so feel lethargic.....and so it continues!

I need to get back to my lunchtime treadmill walks and early morning gym sessions. I feel so much better for them and I know they're essential to building healthy habits that will keep the weight off! I'm open to staying on MJ but would like to get back to having normal food habits one day.

Goldleafcat · 02/04/2025 09:57

Morning all!

Sorry to hear the scales aren’t moving for some of you. I’ve managed to lose another 2lbs, although my weight had actually gone up at the start of the week which was alarming. Think my weekend indulgences were to blame but fortunately it rectified itself and a bit more.

We have guests this coming weekend so I need to try to minimise any damage that will cause to my waistline 😬

After reading about them on here, I’ve started to think seriously about a treadmill… any recommendations? It would probably live in my home office (though how I’ll get it up 2 flights of stairs may be a challenge!). I’ve been looking at the folding ones? I’ve seen the under desk versions but really want something with a bit more oomph and an incline I think. Anything not too pricey but with an incline and can fold would be ideal. Don’t think I’ll be doing much running but fast walks would be beneficial.

For me, I’ve accepted that my food and drinking habits weren’t normal. Previously, if I had had succumbed to a cream egg or a twirl bar, I’d have said to myself I might as well have a bag of crisps as a chaser and a full fat Coke. Since MJ, I know I can be satisfied with just the cream egg. I also realise that my BMR is way lower than I actually realised, so I have to be in a significant calorie deficit in order to be able to lose weight. This would be the case whether or not I was on MJ or not. However previously I would’ve convinced myself that I wasn’t eating enough calories to sustain the level of exercise that I have been doing so would have offset the chocolate, crisps and Coke against a very modest exercise level. The fact that I haven’t passed out because I’m either malnourished or simply not eating enough calories to function properly. since November has shown me that most of my eating habits are psychosomatic. I do think that the more I exercise, the more I noticed changes in my physical shape and that does spur me on to committing to it every day. I would also add (and I’m touching all the wood here) that I have been significantly less ill since November. Usually leave by now I would have succumbed to DH’s viruses or colds and it has been noticeable that I haven’t (so far). I do have hayfever season about to approach though…

on another note and in case it is of interest to anyone, I have been using the bio oil lotion in replacement of my usual body moisturiser. My skin has never felt softer. I’m not sure that it has done much to reduce the saggy tone of either my under arms or inner thighs but it is certainly doing something. I am using my Sara Chapman body and face devices on the arms, legs and face/neck areas. I have also used it in replacement of any of the fancy neck creams so again I wait with interest to see if that has an effect over the next two or seven months. It is £20 a bottle (250 mL) and available on Ocado. It is quite thin in consistency a kin to more of a body milk rather than a cream.

Oh! I meant to also answer about the LED masks / ability to use them on your scalp. I have the Shark and the mask is rigid, but technically you absolutely can have it over your scalp (just tried it), but you will probably have to balance / hold it a bit. There are straps which may help a bit but definitely more awkward than on the face. It is do-able though! The better aging setting is 6 minutes.

Well done on the losses this week! Fantastic news.

I have a peloton tread plus which I really rate. However, it is not cheap, it’s not foldable and does require a subscription but does have all the classes including strength/yoga/meditation/cardio classic plus it connects to Netflix and Disney. I think you can spread the payments and there is always a deal to be done, especially at certain times of the year in conjunction with American Express. Not super helpful, but an opinion anyway!

Being dehydrated with a stomach bug does wonders for the scales. Although I am sure it will pop back on once I can hold anything down. I’m down 2.5lbs from yesterday! I am feeling rather sorry for myself. I’m not ill very often and make a meal out of it. Tentatively trying a cup of tea…

Have you considered a walking pad rather than a treadmill? That would certainly be easier to get up the stairs and to store but you can’t run on it.

Mounjaropen · 02/04/2025 11:47

I meant to add on the treadmill debate… peloton setup wherever you want it set up regardless of which room in the house it is (so they should at that price) Most treadmills have some form of self assembly/ segmentation to get it up stairs.

Do consider static though whichever one you choose if you are putting on carpet that isn’t all natural fibre.

Absolutely agree. I'm such an habitual eater and need to get back into the habit of asking myself if I'm actually hungry or just aware it's "lunchtime". I am able to just eat one piece of chocolate or a small bag of crisps and be satisfied, which is life changing for me. I even left have my dinner on Saturday night because I'd decided all suppression had worn off, so piled my plate with pre-mj portion sizes. I was quickly humbled on that front!

I know if I get my butt back in the gym I'll feel so much better. Maybe some new gym kit is required to get me over this hump!

SerenePeer · 02/04/2025 12:12

@goldleafcat if I had the space, I would have a Peleton tread. I subscribe to the app and love the classes! Instead though I have a walking pad for my office and use it with a weighted vest. It's not too heavy, so was easy to get up the stairs and is slim enough to tuck away out of sight when I'm not using it. This is the one I have: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CL6NCVQP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

If it helps, Sweaty Betty have a sale on their leggings today 😉

I also find great bargains for SB in Brand Alley.

How generous do we think M&S jean sizing is? Actually, don't answer that 😂 I've just bought my 3rd pair of M&S size 12 jeans, they fit perfectly and let's just accept that I'm now a size 12. Deal?

Dreamqueen · 02/04/2025 15:12

Cantbesure · 31/03/2025 21:06

@lovealongbathyes i think you would be able to if it’s one of the silicon flexible ones.

@Dreamqueeni don’t want to have fat clothes and thin clothes.

I did my jab a day late today and I’ve been starving all day. I’ve gone over my calories and taken myself out for an evening walk. I do worry about managing my appetite post jabs.

@Cantbesure I've bagged up all my bigger clothes and am taking them to the charity shop tomorrow. That is my worry too. I don't feel the same supression now as when I started in November. I've gone up to 7.5 for the last 2 jabs and feel I could eat more if I let myself. I'm only 9lbs from my goal weight and after `i finish this pen, I'm going to start moving down the doses to see what happens to my appetite.

IHateMozzies · 02/04/2025 15:15

Weigh in day! 1lb off from last week!

So close to making 2 stone 0.75 lbs to go!

Was at Centre Parcs at the weekend, ate loads but walked a lot more and those rapids must have burnt off a few calories!

Hope everyone is having a good week x

Hello all. Have been a bit absent as had a bereavement recently. But still keeping going while trying to be a rock for my daughter (who lost her boyfriend in a car accident). 🙁 It’s not an easy time right now, so I’m glad MJ is stopping me from going off the rails and emotionally eating.

SW 16st 3.6 (pre MJ)
SW 15st 10.6 (started MJ)
CW 13st 0.2
GW 11st 4

TOTAL lost on MJ 38.4lb

I don’t think I’m going to get to my goal weight. It’s just feels so far away. But I’m thrilled to have lost 38lbs on MJ, and 45lb in total.

it’s suddenly stalled this week. Which is really annoying as I only need to lose a few hundred grams to be in the 12 stones. Which I haven’t seen for 15 years!!

I’m still only on 4mg though so when I do my next jab at the weekend I’m going to bump it up to 4.5mg I think and see whether it will give it a bit of boost. The weight hasn’t shifted at all for about 10 days.

I’m not done yet! What I’d really love is to be back towards 12st 4 which would be lovely. Anything in the 11 stones would be fab as I’m 5ft 9 and would like my BMI to be in the healthy weight range.

Plodding on. Definitely more food noise and my calories creeping up a bit. But still manageable.

I’ve lost about 8lbs in March which I’m pleased about. And tend to see about half a stone a month which is amazing.

I am so sorry to hear about your DD's boyfriend. That is a very young age to lose someone dear. Sending strength to you all.

You are so near, don't give up! The end is in sight and 39lbs is a stellar result And you are not even at 5mg! Be kind to yourself these coming weeks and keep going. Stress does strange things to the body so make sure you are eating enough of the good stuff. 💐
