Welcome to thread 9 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we head towards Easter Egg season, celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W21 D1 and on my first 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 0.8lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 38.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I just came on to post about jeans too!

I bought two pairs of Levi's at Christmas. One in 33 that fit nicely, and a 32 that fit as long as I didn't need to breathe or move...

They're both too big now! So yesterday I bought a pair in size 30. It's fairly tight at the moment, but I reckon it'll be grand in a week's time :)

Yay for size 30 jeans. Awesome result!

Update from me:

SW 93.1 kg
CW 76 kg
Lost: 17.1 kg / 18.4% on Mounjaro
BMI 25.1 - sooooo close to the healthy range!

I went back up to 5 mg this week, and suppression is really high again. But I can tell that my body is not in love with this dose... I'll discuss it with my endocrinologist tomorrow, but maybe I'll have to alternate 5 mg and 3.75 mg doses?

KentishMama, we are tracking VERY closely! My stats as of this morning are:

SW: 93
CW: 76
GW: 65

I’ve gone up to 7.5mg and I’m definitely finding it heavy going - this first day or so after jabbing I have little appetite at all. I’m increasing my walking and may go down to half-doses if I don’t improve over the month. Too little food = low energy, which I don’t really need.

Weight loss twins!

But I'm not sure I want to go as far down as 65 as my goal weight (that would be a BMI of 21.5 for me). I think the thinnest I've ever been as an adult was 67/68, and I was too skinny then. I must have heavy bones, or something...

Cantbesure · 31/03/2025 13:12

@Dreamqueen. I do think there is something very cathartic about clearing out clothes that don’t fit. Although last time I did keep 2 shift style dresses that I was very grateful for as I gained weight. And likewise I kept a few dresses from last time I lost weight that I’m also grateful for. However, unless something is expensive or sentimental I prefer the psychological impact of buying new or new to me. And not feeling that I’m cycling clothes from various weights.

Good point about cycling clothes from different weights.

Worth trying counting clicks for 4.25mg - might be a sweet spot in the middle somewhere?

lovealongbath · 31/03/2025 20:47

LED face mask users…….

could you potentially wear it to cover the top of your head?

After seeing me hair in photos on Saturday, I went to Hair salon today for a cut.
The stylist was fabulous and has made a great job and I am liking my revamp!
She noticed herself how much my hair has thinned and suggested an LED cap.

As I have been thinking about a mask, I was wondering if I could use it for face then move it up for scalp.

If you have an LED Mask, do you think this could be possible?

Cantbesure · 31/03/2025 21:06

@lovealongbathyes i think you would be able to if it’s one of the silicon flexible ones.

@Dreamqueeni don’t want to have fat clothes and thin clothes.

I did my jab a day late today and I’ve been starving all day. I’ve gone over my calories and taken myself out for an evening walk. I do worry about managing my appetite post jabs.

Yes, true, I should try something between 3.75 and 5! Duh.

I think this is why maintenance is so important - I know that if I stop MJ i'll be back to where I started in terms of food noise and appetite quite quickly. I'm planning to be on these drugs forever if that's what it takes.

Pumpkinforever · 01/04/2025 09:19

Weekly report

SW 15 stone 12 / 100.7kg
CW 12 stone 9 / 80.3kg
BMI was 40.9 and now 32.6
Loss to date 3 stone 3lbs/ 45lbs / 20.4kg

Taking 5mg.

I have lost 20% of me compared to the beginning of November! That’s just mad!

KentishMama · 01/04/2025 09:28

Just saw my endocrinologist for a checkup.

NSV: My blood pressure is normal. OMG, that never happens, especially when I'm at the doctor's!

More importantly, he shared that he's absolutely happy for me to count clicks to find the right dose. He says the pens are designed that way on purpose, so it's a totally valid approach.

He also shared recent research that tested staying on MJ for 4 years rather than the 2 they did in previous studies. Very successful. I should prepare myself to stay on this for life, possibly. I'm not surprised by that, but wanted to share with you lot as maintenance is such a big topic.

Next review in November, with blood tests to check insulin levels and calcitonin (a thyroid cancer marker - I'm at higher risk here as I've already had cancer twice).

Goodness that’s amazing! So sorry to hear that you’ve had difficulties in the past with your house, that must be a very worrying time indeed. Very interesting to hear about long-term studies of MJ, thank you for sharing. Keep up the good work!

I think we’re at the cusp of getting access to studies which show a longer term effect of MJ rather than under two years. I’d like to think now that I have sufficiently changed my exercise habits to be able to wean myself off MJ, but who knows? It might be that for some of us we need to consider some form of CBT training or equivalent to help understand why we have eaten to excess in the past. I think reading lots of information about UPFs and the considerable effort that food manufacturing companies go to to try and ensure that we are addicted to certain nutritiously invalid foods is also very helpful open (well it has been for me anyway)

Interesting article in today’s times about exercising in case anybody needs a little exercise inspo! It does say that this is a ‘show Reader’ article so you should be able to click on the lines in the square box to the left in your search bar/ web address baron your device to access it and bypass the paywall.

Feeling a tad frustrated, 3 stone off and now under 11 stone (just) for the first time in years. However I seem to be gaining and losing the same 1lb in the last 10 days, despite no changes in diet. I do weigh myself most days. Guess that’s to be expected as we get nearer to our goal? 😬

I have exactly thius. I’ve decided to vary my exercise timings/patterns this week to shake things up. Pvolve has a dedicated GLP-1 weight training calendar which I am about to start today and I am hoping that more weights will kick start my metabolism 🤞🏻

@KentishMama I hear you on the 65kg - I have been that thin before, but it was some time ago so I’m aware that now it might just look scrawny! I know that getting into the upper 60s should be fine, but I’ll need to keep an eye on myself after that.

I also think staying on a maintenance dose will be important for me. Just being able to go through my life without compulsively munching or desperately trying to exercise off excess food is blissful. I feel like I’ve a nice balance of healthy eating, exercise and weight, you know? This was harder to achieve before.

Cantbesure · 01/04/2025 13:49

@kentishmamaI’m sorry to hear about your health struggles. Your posts are so helpful, we are all benefitting from the advice of your specialist.

Whilst I’m exercising and eating better the eating part is so much easier with the greedy button switched off. I’m sat here now, hungry, but able to completely ignore it. Yesterday I was chewing my arm off as I’d not taken my jab. As a short arse my calorie requirements will remain very low. I do hope for a cheaper pill version in the future.

I am very interested to see how we all navigate maintenance. It’s been so interesting already how different our journeys are with doses, side effects, weight losses etc.

Cantbesure · 01/04/2025 22:32

Not sure if I’ve eaten something, have a bug or if this is MJ related but I’m not well tonight. It’s the first time I’ve had stomach issues other than constipation since starting MJ. Hoping it doesn’t hang around long.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 01/04/2025 22:48

Awesome work, well done @Pumpkinforever!

Slight downside to MJ: bought an absolutely beautiful Ganni white denim maxi skirt in December on Vinted. Well, it’s now too big, and I haven’t worn it because it’s been winter. Trying to work out how to take it in.

Well a great NSV 👏 Try a Local seamstress? I use one all of the time. Get a recommendation on your local FB group for one used by others.

Snap!! Same here! Just seem to have stalled over the last two weeks :(

I’ve shifted downwards by a massive 0.4lbs 😂

I am determined to try and kickstart myself out of this rut. DH fancied a glass of wine last night and wanted a partner in crime but in my minds eye all I could see were the scales this morning so I declined (rare event). Going to see if more weight-based sessions on Pvolve makes a difference this week (although muscle weighs more obviously).

keep going, we’ve all got this 💪🏻
