Welcome to thread 9 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we head towards Easter Egg season, celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W21 D1 and on my first 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 0.8lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 38.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Men can be so oblivious can’t they! I love Trinny too, she has so much energy and is so engaging. It is inspiring me to think more about what I’m wearing and challenge myself to try styles and outfits outside of my usual
comfort zone.

Happy Mother’s Day to those who celebrate! We went for a lovely lunch (I had two courses and a cocktail). My DS has nodded off on me on the sofa and I’m tempted to have a little nap too!

I had more than one cocktail… as a result I can’t sleep now 😂

One of the most annoying things about losing weight is obviously having to buy new clothes that you hope you won’t fit into for too long, because the goal is to slim through that size and down. So, I was determined I wasn’t actually going to buy any clothes until I absolutely needed to.

Well, I had a couple of pairs of jeans that I’d stored in the attic, which were a size 16. Around Christmas, I thought I’d get them out because I assumed I’d be able to fit into them by then — but I was a bit shocked to find I’d somehow skipped straight from needing an 18 to more like a 14.5 or 15. The 16s were already too loose! So I thought, okay, I can wear them a bit longer.

However, by February, it was becoming very obvious that I desperately needed new jeans. They were falling down — I didn’t even need to undo them to take them off. They were sitting so slouchy I looked like I was in prison, giving people signals with my pants.

So I went on Vinted and managed to find exactly the same jeans (because I do like them) in a smaller size — a 14 — and bought them.

Well, last night my husband asked me why I hadn’t thrown out the old jeans yet, because they really were too big and I really needed to size down. And it was with absolute pleasure that I got to tell him that the jeans he’s now saying are too big for me… are the size 14s I bought to replace the 16s.

And… the size 12s I also got off Vinted arrived today — and they fit beautifully!

Edited

What a win! 🙌

Prison vibe jeans could be a thing I reckon 😂

Enjoy your new wardrobe!

Loving the downsizing jeans, @IndigoHexagon! It’s so nice to be able to (inexpensively) slide into something smaller that fits.

I have a version of this story today, but mine involves rediscovering bits of my old wardrobe. Today I am wearing SHORTS to clip shrubs in the garden. I found them at the bottom of a drawer, languishing for goodness knows how long. They fit (!) so I am giving my pale winter-blue legs some vitamin D. It’s really warm in the sun today!

I suspect I’m also looking older/saggier in photos, but I think it’s hard to avoid. I went to see Black Bag in the cinema last night, starring Cate Blanchett - who is still beautiful, but has that slightly shiny/frozen look so many celebs seem to have after getting lots of treatments. Hard to win, really! I try to keep reminding myself how much I’m enjoying feeling slimmer/more mobile and not having aching feet anymore.

Ooh shorts! 👏👏👏

Was the film any good?

I did have a nsv yesterday. I used to live in a Boden denim mini skirt but haven’t worn it for 2-3 years. It fits… comfortably fits. It’s a 12 which, even when I was under 10stone, my hips were still a 12 so I don’t expect to wear smaller than that.

🥳

firstly, huge congratulations on the losses! Do you think your DH is using the chap over the road to try and raise your weight loss with you maybe? Perhaps he’s worried you are not well? Men are awkward about this sort of thing.

Secondly, what style are you into? Who do you admire style-wise? Colour preferences? Do you need only casual clothes? Start there and we can help you find some lovely bits.

Thank you @Mounjaropen DH is just oblivious. My DIL says it's bcause he sees me every day.
Style wise I'm slightly lost. Pre covid I knew my style. Now life is different. We've moved out of London up to the coast up North, I'm 65. We used to go out a lot in the eveninggs but now mostly go out at lunchtime. I'm doing the school run a coupe of times a week with DGD. We do a very long holiday every year but I know my holiday style. It's every day clothes i'm at a loss for. I've been wearing comfy tracksuits, wide legged elastic waisted trousers and stuff luke that when i was in weight gain denial. Now I'm smaller, I'd like to up my style game. I'm short, 5,1. Dark hair and slighlty olive complexion. Any tips would be gratefully received.

I’m stuck at 10st 7 (2lbs into the over weight zone) but it’s my birthday tomorrow and Mother’s Day today so I’ve had waffles for breakfast and cake at lunch. Onwards next week.

dad’s lung cancer has spread to his brain so we find out next steps next week but it’s not curable. I haven’t turned to comfort food yet but something to watch for me. My getting fat isn’t helpful for dad so need to find comfort elsewhere.

Spending time with my eldest dd this afternoon (and the dogs) so just a much needed calm few hours.

I’m so sorry to hear about your Dad.

Enjoy your birthday and your Mother’s Day, I hope you and your DD had a calm and supportive day together. x

I think I’d start with a decent capsule that covers:
Going for coffee
Going for lunch/casual dinner
School runs

This time of year I think you need:
-Jeans that graze your ankle to make you look taller (my DD is the same height as you)
-Structured blazer/jacket (Zara is great for these)
-A softer relaxed jacket
-Couple of fitted t shirts (v neck is more flattering if you have large norks like me)
-Structured shirt/blouse that can be worn with or without the structured jacket in a colour you love
-A below the knee dress
-a waist length fitted cardigan with fancy buttons to be worn with the dress or jeans
-Nice flats
-Dressy sandals
-Fashion trainers
-Short boots you can wear with the jeans/dress
-nice quality workout gear you can wear on a morning school run
-Everything starts with the right bra so get yourself a proper fitting.

I’ve attached a couple of photos of the Times Fashion editor who was posting from Paris Fashion week having worn only UK supermarket clothing in case they inspire you. She’s average height and mid 50’s I think. Nice blazer here too.

W21D1 - yet another 5mg jab

S/W 16st 7
C/W 11st 7
G/W 11st ish

I couldn’t believe the scales this morning! 5st gone for good. My original, highly optimistic, goal reached. 5 months ago, I would never have thought this would have been possible but, thanks to Mounjaro and the friendly community and accountability of this thread, here I am!! Only half a stone left before I start maintenance - I might just get there on this pen.

I hope everyone enjoyed their day yesterday, however you celebrated. I cooked a roast and made possibly the best roast potatoes I’ve ever done (the Yorkshire puddings were a different story…) but almost mindlessly managed to only have 3, which totalled a small potato and a half. I did make DH eat the last few sharpish so they weren’t tempting me from the kitchen later on, but it’s little things like that I know I need to carry on further down the line when I don’t have the fallback of the jabs to rely on.

There is beautiful sunshine here today, and I’m looking forward to a summer where I don’t have to hide under sweaty maxi dresses or baggy clothes. It’s going to be an expensive few months getting my wardrobe together!

Morning all - great updates to read.

W21 D1 - had a weird 1lb on yesterday which caused me to panic having started to cut my dose last week to move into maintenance. So, I went back up to 9mg last night....

This morning, that lb, and another had gone - doh! Telling myself I shouldn't react to a single weigh in!!

In my last order from Simple Online Pharmacy I bought 3 pens and so it's been a while since I ordered - put one in last night. Was worried what their response might be now I'm reporting a BMI below 25. I confess to fibbing a little and saying I was at 24.3, rather than 23. This is what i received by email back:

Thank you for your order. After reviewing your request, I have approved your order but do recommend the following:

Please stick to the recommended weekly medication dosing schedule for safety and the best results. Please note inadequate weight loss within a certain timeframe is an indication to stop this medication, and may lead to rejection of future orders.

Congratulations on achieving a healthy weight.

Our records indicate that your BMI (body mass index) - a calculation of your height and weight - is within a healthy range.

You may want to start thinking about a life without weight loss medication. Your next steps are depending on how you are feeling and your journey so far.
If you have used treatment for some time (over 1 year), it may be a good time to stop - you can do this abruptly or you can reduce your dose each month gradually. Now you have used treatment for some time, you have likely adapted well to your new eating and lifestyle habits which are likely to stick without treatment.

If you have not been on treatment long (less than 6 months), you may want to consider staying on treatment longer - as you are still early in your journey - making sure your weight doesn't drop much lower than it is now - our clinicians will regularly review your progress.

Everyone is different and there is no one way of stopping treatment - the main thing is that you are ready to take the next step in your journey without medication, we are still here to support you.

Thought others might be interested as this is not a pharmacy that talks about supporting maintenance, but they appear to be happy to keep prescribing for now at least.

Thank you for sharing the information. Glad to see the pesky Pound has disappeared! My GP was clear that there was no need to titrate down if I wanted to stop taking MJ. and I should just stop. Obviously, the pharmacies have a vested interest in continuing to prescribe in any amount so I think I’m going to do some research to work out what might be best for me. It’s my job day today, if anything I found I’ve lost less weight having done 6.25 mg last week despite not really changing anything from previous weeks in terms of food intake, alcohol intake and exercise regime I’m not sure of the benefits of going up to 7.5 mg? Anyone got any thoughts or experiences of this? Up until last week I had lost a steady 2 lbs each week and I’m happy with that rate of loss. Ideally, I’d like to be at or below 10st for my holiday which is at the end of May.

Quick question for advice please. I’m clearing out my wardrobe this morning. Clothes that are a couple of sizes too big, I’m putting in the charity shop bag. What do I do with the ones that are slightly too big? Do I go all out and charity shop them too? Or do I put them in the loft? It’s taken me over 40 years to be at a happy weight and I say that I’ll never go up there again but statistically there’s a chance of it happening. Advice please. 🙏

Personally, anything that you could realise some extra cash because it’s nice quality I’d pop on Vinted or local FB marketplace. Especially anything that still has tags on it the slightly too big clothes (maybe one dress size up) I would still carefully in the loft because you may well gain weight through no fault of your own from maybe a health condition or some injury that prevents you from moving as much as you are currently. I think the active going into the loft and getting the clothes back out will act as a trigger to understand how you may well have put weight back on. If you leave them in the wardrobe somewhere, it’s just all too easy to grab a bigger pair of trousers and not think about the fact of why you need them. This is the strategy I’m going to adopt when I do my final clear out. this week is ideal for selling because everyone has just been paid.

Pumpkinforever · 31/03/2025 11:49

@Dreamqueen Anything two sizes too big can go to charity shops. Anything you have only worn a few times still on Vinted.

so all my size 20 is gone. I will clear all size 18 when I am comfortably between between a 16 and a 14 in SeaSalt and Weird Fish as they are not a generous as M&S

jay55 · 31/03/2025 11:55

I think not having clothes a bigger size to hand is motivation to make a change if current size starts to get tight.

However also aware life happens and illness or injury can interfere. So will vote for loft for now.

I'm torn about getting rid of stuff this time around.
I lost four stone about a decade ago and was super confident about it staying off so got rid of a lot. Then I had my gallbladder out and everything went to shit and I regained it all. I was gutted not to have a lot of nice dresses once everything had been regained.
Since then I've basically hoarded everything and am currently reaping the rewards, enjoying revisiting my 2018/9 wardrobe!
I think I might get rid of the stuff I bought just because it fitted and hold onto a few nicer bits in a range of just in case sizes.

@Dreamqueen. I do think there is something very cathartic about clearing out clothes that don’t fit. Although last time I did keep 2 shift style dresses that I was very grateful for as I gained weight. And likewise I kept a few dresses from last time I lost weight that I’m also grateful for. However, unless something is expensive or sentimental I prefer the psychological impact of buying new or new to me. And not feeling that I’m cycling clothes from various weights.

I just came on to post about jeans too!

I bought two pairs of Levi's at Christmas. One in 33 that fit nicely, and a 32 that fit as long as I didn't need to breathe or move...

They're both too big now! So yesterday I bought a pair in size 30. It's fairly tight at the moment, but I reckon it'll be grand in a week's time :)

SW 93.1 kg
CW 76 kg
Lost: 17.1 kg / 18.4% on Mounjaro
BMI 25.1 - sooooo close to the healthy range!

I went back up to 5 mg this week, and suppression is really high again. But I can tell that my body is not in love with this dose... I'll discuss it with my endocrinologist tomorrow, but maybe I'll have to alternate 5 mg and 3.75 mg doses?
