Welcome to thread 9 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we head towards Easter Egg season, celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W21 D1 and on my first 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 0.8lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 38.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Happy Mother’s Day everyone. I hope we all have a lovely day.
the pound I was down yesterday is back again today. It can do one!!

A camera never lies…..

Was out for a friends birthday celebration lunch today.

Photographs were taken.

I am so disappointed in how I look. I am shocked at how my neck is scraggy. I knew I had lost hair but seeing my scalp in the photograph has made me realise just how thin it is. But I can’t say that about the body, I am still so fat, Yes, Not as fat as I was but I still have a hell of a way to go.

One of the ladies there is diabetic and was careful of her food choices for her sugar levels which somehow resulted in a conversation about people using the diabetic drug for weight loss. Bla, bla, bla. I never said a word.

Yesterday at my work there was quite a derogatory conversation about people on weight loss injections, bla, bla bla, I never said a word!

Not like me to keep quiet, but I just couldn’t be arsed!

Oh @lovealongbath you sound so despondent. Try to focus on how far you've come - you've done amazing!

And for the jab conversations. Stuff em.

Weight loss in women is so massively complicated by hormones too. I read somewhere that can make weight fluctuate by 7lbs, which is surely wrong, but I am taking this to mean those few pounds up (or not down) can come and go. Clearly I’m happy to believe this when things are going down but as soon as the don’t move (or move in the wrong direction) my brain switches to catastrophic thinking and tells me it is all over 🤦‍♀️

wishing you a next week of satisfying bowel movements, a quick return to the feeling of deserved achievement, and a woosh.

Thanks @phyllidafosset logically I know it's just a blip and the scales will start moving again soon!

Happy Mothers Day everyone. My lot don't go in for Mothers day much, not like when they were little and would proudly present me with inedible breakfast in bed 😂I was going to wallow and throw a bit of a strop, but instead I've bought myself a massive bunch of tulips and the M&S Dine in meal deal. Planning an afternoon on the sofa and some online retail therapy!

Ooh enjoy and let us know what you bought!

I did get breakfast in bed from DH and I watched Mobland on Paramount+ (very good by the way )and I had a few chocolate buttons with my coffee. Tom Hardy and chocolate is the only way to start a Sunday 😉

Off to a fancy lunch in London wearing my fancy new blouse 🥰

Have a fab day everyone xx

Happy Mothers day to all my fellow November starters. without you all on here this journey would have been so much harder. Only you, my DIL and son know that I'm doing MJ. Even though I've lost 2.5st DH hasn't noticed. ;). He's been more worried that his mate across the road has lost a bit of weight while we were on holiday and is now worried that said mate is unwell.
The skin on my belly has tightened up quite well but unfortunately the skin on my thighs is a different story. NSV most of my clothes are way too big. I've ordered some jeans from Vinted. Any tips please on how to dress as a now much smaller 65 year old.5ft 1in, never thought of myself as a small size before and now totally out of my comfort zone. I've been watching loads of Trinny videos even though she's nearly a foot taller than me, she has a great sense of style and colours.

TeenLifeMum · 30/03/2025 13:55

I’m stuck at 10st 7 (2lbs into the over weight zone) but it’s my birthday tomorrow and Mother’s Day today so I’ve had waffles for breakfast and cake at lunch. Onwards next week.

dad’s lung cancer has spread to his brain so we find out next steps next week but it’s not curable. I haven’t turned to comfort food yet but something to watch for me. My getting fat isn’t helpful for dad so need to find comfort elsewhere.

Spending time with my eldest dd this afternoon (and the dogs) so just a much needed calm few hours.

murraymcgill · 30/03/2025 15:06

I'm so happy for everyone in this group we're all doing great

Thank you! It’s definitely brightened me up. Time for a bit of change!

Men can be so oblivious can’t they! I love Trinny too, she has so much energy and is so engaging. It is inspiring me to think more about what I’m wearing and challenge myself to try styles and outfits outside of my usual
comfort zone.

Happy Mother’s Day to those who celebrate! We went for a lovely lunch (I had two courses and a cocktail). My DS has nodded off on me on the sofa and I’m tempted to have a little nap too!

One of the most annoying things about losing weight is obviously having to buy new clothes that you hope you won’t fit into for too long, because the goal is to slim through that size and down. So, I was determined I wasn’t actually going to buy any clothes until I absolutely needed to.

Well, I had a couple of pairs of jeans that I’d stored in the attic, which were a size 16. Around Christmas, I thought I’d get them out because I assumed I’d be able to fit into them by then — but I was a bit shocked to find I’d somehow skipped straight from needing an 18 to more like a 14.5 or 15. The 16s were already too loose! So I thought, okay, I can wear them a bit longer.

However, by February, it was becoming very obvious that I desperately needed new jeans. They were falling down — I didn’t even need to undo them to take them off. They were sitting so slouchy I looked like I was in prison, giving people signals with my pants.

So I went on Vinted and managed to find exactly the same jeans (because I do like them) in a smaller size — a 14 — and bought them.

Well, last night my husband asked me why I hadn’t thrown out the old jeans yet, because they really were too big and I really needed to size down. And it was with absolute pleasure that I got to tell him that the jeans he’s now saying are too big for me… are the size 14s I bought to replace the 16s.

And… the size 12s I also got off Vinted arrived today — and they fit beautifully!

RayonSunrise · 30/03/2025 16:14

Loving the downsizing jeans, @IndigoHexagon! It’s so nice to be able to (inexpensively) slide into something smaller that fits.

I have a version of this story today, but mine involves rediscovering bits of my old wardrobe. Today I am wearing SHORTS to clip shrubs in the garden. I found them at the bottom of a drawer, languishing for goodness knows how long. They fit (!) so I am giving my pale winter-blue legs some vitamin D. It’s really warm in the sun today!

I suspect I’m also looking older/saggier in photos, but I think it’s hard to avoid. I went to see Black Bag in the cinema last night, starring Cate Blanchett - who is still beautiful, but has that slightly shiny/frozen look so many celebs seem to have after getting lots of treatments. Hard to win, really! I try to keep reminding myself how much I’m enjoying feeling slimmer/more mobile and not having aching feet anymore.

RayonSunrise · 30/03/2025 16:17

@Goldleafcat, so sorry to hear about your dad. My dad has a chronic illness and is getting very frail now - I am also feeling like we have limited time with him. Lots of love to you, it’s not an easy thing to go through. ❤️

RayonSunrise · 30/03/2025 16:18

Ah sorry, that last message should have been to @TeenLifeMum. Reading & posting too fast! Maybe I should get back to my shrubs.

Thanks @RayonSunrise sorry about your dad. currently (other than a bit of a cough) his symptoms are minimal and he’s not frail at all. He’s 72 and spent last summer hiking and camping in Dartmoor and even took the grandchildren. He just doesn’t look as ill as we’re being told he is, which is weird to process. I guess they will change at some point.

TeenLifeMum · 30/03/2025 16:34

I did have a nsv yesterday. I used to live in a Boden denim mini skirt but haven’t worn it for 2-3 years. It fits… comfortably fits. It’s a 12 which, even when I was under 10stone, my hips were still a 12 so I don’t expect to wear smaller than that.

IndigoHexagon · 30/03/2025 16:37

@RayonSunrise Vinted is fantastic for bargains and replacing favourite items!

I have my eye on some Sugarhill Brighton and Lucy & Yak stuff that I’m going to buy when I’m at target - on Vinted if I can find it!

Cantbesure · 30/03/2025 20:14

@TeenLifeMumsorry to hear about your dad’s diagnosis. It must be a huge thing to take in. Sending love.

firstly, huge congratulations on the losses! Do you think your DH is using the chap over the road to try and raise your weight loss with you maybe? Perhaps he’s worried you are not well? Men are awkward about this sort of thing.

Secondly, what style are you into? Who do you admire style-wise? Colour preferences? Do you need only casual clothes? Start there and we can help you find some lovely bits.

So sorry to read your update. If it is any help, my friend has been living with stage 4 cancer for many years now including metastatic brain cancer. There have been ups and downs along the the way but you wouldn’t know to look at her. Sending you strength for the journey ahead.

Cake today is of course calorie free 😉
