Asked for picture of me holding up today's paper!

Has this happened to anyone else? Medexpress won't prescribe my Mounjaro (which I've been on for 6 months) unless I send a pic of me holding a paper with todays date. How ridiculous is that?

So I have to buy a paper which I've never done, send a pic of myself holding it, which means I need someone else to take the picture, and after doing that how on earth can they see the newspaper date if the pic needs to be a full body?

I'm wondering if anyone else has done this?
Thinking of jumping ship with Medexpress as they are very slow and now asked me to do this.

Not the point at all but I can’t get over someone never having bought a newspaper!

I'm nearly 60 and have never bought a newspaper in my life.

I thought photos were 'timestamped' with when they were taken

You can alter the timestamp very easily.

What! You don't have to buy a newspaper.
Get a train to London and pick up a copy of 'Metro' - they're FREE!

Not just London. Metro is nationwide

Can you do that on a photo that wasn't taken in the past?

Unless OP walks within walking distance of a tube station, surely the cost of travelling to London or a tube station will be more expensive than just popping to the local shop and buying a newspaper…

Though I’m another one who thinks OP has misunderstood and they mean a piece of paper, not a newspaper.

It's a joke 😂😂😂

So people load up their pockets with something heavy?

You also have to send full body pictures so guess not @gamerchick

I doubt it. Maybe you can change the date on your phone for future photos but editing timestamps can only be done on photos you’ve already taken

JFDIYOLO · 02/03/2025 10:34

It's for your protection. So they can see how you are today, as in genuinely needing the medication and not living with an eating disorder.

Buy the paper (it's really not hard), set up your camera on delay, prop it up, walk a bit back, pose, send, done.

yes but you can reset the day and time on what you took it with.

Ha! Sorry, went straight over my head!

Go to the newsagents and ask the newsagent to take your picture with today's Sunday People or whatever. Then say thank you and leave. No need to buy it!

I've seen plenty posts on here and elsewhere saying to wear layers to pad out a bit for the photos.

I obviously didn't factor that in.

In that case, one could accost a paper-delivery-person and get them to take the photo whilst you are holding one of their papers.

Or go to a supermarket and pretend to be studying the headlines whilst sneekily taking the photo, and then put the paper back.

Sunshinedayscomeon · 02/03/2025 10:47

I gave up on mediexpress, as their request got silly. The photo I sent got rejected as it had clutter in it (the clutter was a chest of drawers). I use ZAVA instead. Wouldn't recommend mediexpress.

Dunkou · 02/03/2025 10:54

Photos have to be full length in very form fitting clothes, so these ideas of taking a quick selfie in the newsagent won't work. If indeed it does need a newspaper or not just a piece of paper.

That's good news - all part of the Government's 'levelling up' policy, I suppose.

That has been the case for years

IzzyHandsIsMySpiritAnimal · 02/03/2025 11:00

Holding up a piece of paper with the date written on it proves nothing.
If you don't want to buy a newspaper, just do what @AlisonDonut suggests.

CerealPosterHere · 02/03/2025 11:01

I’d definitely wait until tomorrow, Sunday papers cost a fortune! 😁

You could go to Tesco, get a paper, strip off to your underwear in the changing room, take the photo, put the newspaper back 👍

anniegun · 02/03/2025 11:04

Can you ask a relative or a friend to buy a paper for you if it is proving so difficult?

FriendlyEeyore · 02/03/2025 11:05

Which newspaper did you buy?

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 02/03/2025 11:05

If it really does need a newspaper, ask a friend for a copy of yesterday's paper.

Not in my local Tesco, the changing room was a casualty of COVID that sadly never recovered. All stripping off has to be done on the shop floor
