Asked for picture of me holding up today's paper!

Has this happened to anyone else? Medexpress won't prescribe my Mounjaro (which I've been on for 6 months) unless I send a pic of me holding a paper with todays date. How ridiculous is that?

So I have to buy a paper which I've never done, send a pic of myself holding it, which means I need someone else to take the picture, and after doing that how on earth can they see the newspaper date if the pic needs to be a full body?

I'm wondering if anyone else has done this?
Thinking of jumping ship with Medexpress as they are very slow and now asked me to do this.

Wait, you've never bought a newspaper. How is this possible?

I haven't either! I'm 42

Shewantstogo · 02/03/2025 10:02

They asked for a copy of my scale. So I sent this, I was 14st 12 when I started 2nd November- I’m now 12:11! They mean a blank piece of paper with the date written on it! Not a newspaper!

I think UK providers are getting twitchy now they have the first cohort of people getting to goal weight or close to goal weight. I'm with Voy, before my last pen (six month mark) they asked for photos and proof of weight before issuing another prescription - which I did.

According to their rules they should ask again in 3 months but my next prescription is on hold because they want photos and proof of weight again so it seems like they are asking me every month.

I've not done it yet because I'm about 90% decided that this is my last pen. I have 3 weeks left in it which should take me to about 10 stone. That's 3 pounds shy of my starting goal but to be honest I plucked my goal weight out of thin air because I had no idea what I wanted to be.

I haven’t bought a newspaper for well over ten years. I subscribe to online instead.

If they can see what paper it is and headline/cover pics then it should be easily checkable without seeing the actual date?

This. the company can access what the front page of that paper looked like on that day.

They'll mean holding a piece of paper with today's date written on it, surely.

If they don't, just go somewhere that sells papers and take a picture with one?

I wasn't asking for help! Maybe easier for you but not me.

Edited

But you were moaning you couldn't do it so I was trying to be helpful and tell you how you can. I guess some people don't want to be helped though, they'd rather just moan 🤷

MikeRafone · 02/03/2025 10:12

they see the newspaper date if the pic

there are photos and pictures of the days front pages that can be used to see if it is todays - no date required

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 02/03/2025 10:18

What! You don't have to buy a newspaper.
Get a train to London and pick up a copy of 'Metro' - they're FREE!

gamerchick · 02/03/2025 10:19

Too many people are lying to get these jabs. It's not ideal but I can see why they're doing it.

I’m 44. I can’t afford to subscribe to all papers but like to mix it up by buying different papers (the Times, FT, Indy, Guardian etc) - I don’t know how others get balanced news without doing that?

And I often see younger colleagues coming into work with newspapers. So it surely it’s not just an age thing??

Because they already have a photo of me, numerous ones actually over six months. I can't have lost that much weight over that time that now warrants this.

Why have you had to send so many photos? I'm with medexpress and (so far) only sent one at the start?

Had anyone else had to send multiple photos to medexpress??

So people load up their pockets with something heavy?

Perfectly possible tbh - nobody I knows buys papers anymore (except my parents who are in their 60s so used to it/habit they’ve been doing years)

Aren't you a delight to someone who was only making a suggestion. How are strangers meant to know you can't do something that other people find easy?

isaknowsbest · 02/03/2025 10:22

Hold your laptop with the DM front page on it 😂

That's what I'm wondering, they have a whole album of my pics now 🤔 the only thing I can think of is that I had a break inbetween jabs so perhaps they are monitoring it more.

johnd2 · 02/03/2025 10:24

Save money, just download a screenshot of the front page and Photoshop it onto a photo of you would be easier and cheaper. 🙂😄

In all seriousness I'd just try the written option first, then if they reject it go for the actual newspaper

I'm 59, and haven't bought one in 15 years. I do miss them, but not enough to actually buy one. They're ridiculously expensive and shadows of their former selves.

Though I do read the free local rag, which is very good. (Camden New Journal)

Seems very sensible to me

Seems odd that you’ve taken such umbrage at the requirements

Yeah "I've never bought a paper before". Go to newsagent. Buy paper. Job done.
