Asked for picture of me holding up today's paper!

Has this happened to anyone else? Medexpress won't prescribe my Mounjaro (which I've been on for 6 months) unless I send a pic of me holding a paper with todays date. How ridiculous is that?

So I have to buy a paper which I've never done, send a pic of myself holding it, which means I need someone else to take the picture, and after doing that how on earth can they see the newspaper date if the pic needs to be a full body?

I'm wondering if anyone else has done this?
Thinking of jumping ship with Medexpress as they are very slow and now asked me to do this.

Do they not mean holding a piece of paper with today's date written on it?

It's because people are sending old photos of when they were heavier to get a prescription.

Powderedalkali · 02/03/2025 09:20

Just put your phone on a time and take a selfie in front of the tv news

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 02/03/2025 09:20

Buying a newspaper is not difficult. Nor is taking a photo using the timer function on your phone camera.

Presumably they need to be sure that people aren't using old photos of themselves

Yellowink · 02/03/2025 09:21

Seems very sensible to me

Seems odd that you’ve taken such umbrage at the requirements

theleafandnotthetree · 02/03/2025 09:21

Wait, you've never bought a newspaper. How is this possible?

Disturbia81 · 02/03/2025 09:22

They are getting stricter which is good. I know of a woman with anorexia who is prescribed them, she's killing herself

Because they already have a photo of me, numerous ones actually over six months. I can't have lost that much weight over that time that now warrants this.

If they can see what paper it is and headline/cover pics then it should be easily checkable without seeing the actual date?

TheMorels · 02/03/2025 09:23

Are you sure it’s a newspaper? I’ve been asked to include a piece of paper with the date on. A newspaper sounds like you’ve been kidnapped. 😂

But they don’t know it is a current photo op

this will prove it

goodness, you could have bought the paper by now op rather than mumsnet!

No never, all news is online nowadays.

It's probably a blanket rule so they don't have to waste time working out who might be fibbing.

They won't need to see the date, the headlines/photos will show it's today's paper.

How is it hard to take a selfie?!

GottaGetOutofDairy · 02/03/2025 09:26

I’ve had to hold a piece of paper with today’s date on it. Not a newspaper

good job they don’t require an IQ test!

I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill to be honest. Why be so difficult over a request to get medication? Everyone wants things without doing anything themselves these days 🙄

I also had similar.

AlisonDonut · 02/03/2025 09:29

Go to a shop. pick up a newspaper, take a selfie, put the paper down and then send that?

Ermengarde · 02/03/2025 09:29

QuickMeds asked me to take a photo with a piece of paper showing my order number on it. I thought that was a good idea as it can’t be faked. I wrote it in sharpie on a post it note and held it in front of my face!

TidyDancer · 02/03/2025 09:30

They seem to have different rules depending on which customer service person replies to you. I've just been asked for an updated photo and they've just asked for full length and a plain background. Nothing about the date in it. I'm still quite fat though so this is likely a formality and my eligibility isn't in question. 😂

0987654321q · 02/03/2025 09:30

I'm switching to The Family Chemist and have to do a full body length photo holding a piece of paper with today's date.

I'm going to record me standing in front of the camera and then just take a screen shot from the video. It's still a faff but not as bad.

B1indEye · 02/03/2025 09:30

Sounds like a very sensible thing to do. A date on a piece of paper could be photoshopped.without too much effort couldn't it

BigSilly · 02/03/2025 09:32

I thought photos were 'timestamped' with when they were taken
