Hi all, the price scare has completely passed me by - I'm going to google after this - I'm back because I need to kick my self into action again. I hit the 100lb loss back on my first manniversary in May (do you see what I did there?) and have been having a bit of a break - still taking 9-10 every 8 or 9 days (mostly because I keep forgetting to take it and daren't take the full 10 if it's over a week), but today I've put brave pants back on, done a full 12.5 dose, and hoping to hit the next goal (less than 100kg) before Halloween. It was going to be Christmas but that's too far away, and 'only' 5kg loss needed to get there.

You are all doing so well, I wonder how much we've lost as a group?

ClonedSquare · 29/08/2025 13:49

I thought this morning about making a positive post. I’ve been buying new clothes recently and it’s felt so good. I’m trying some more adventurous things. I’m actually keeping things not sending everything back. Some things I’ve had to reorder in a smaller size. I’ve subscribed to Lookiero to get some clothes I wouldn’t necesssrily pick myself and been really happy with their choice. I’m wearing skinny jeans. I can go into physical shops and there’s stuff for me to try on and maybe even buy!

Unfortunately ASDA just sent through their price increase and it’s now £300 a month for Mounjaro. I have a pen I’m about to start and I think I’ll stretch it out to 10 days between doses as I’ve done that accidentally last week and it still felt effective. After that pen is done, I think I’ll be switching to Wegovy.

QueenOfHiraeth · 29/08/2025 20:41

Well done @ClonedSquare! Who knew clothes could be such a challenge for us?! It's a good challenge though, keep up the good work.

The price rises are a bugger Sad I'm lucky I can still do it although, irrationally, I begrudge it even though it has done me so much good and I know, if I was just starting out now, I probably wouldn't even start so I am counting myself lucky that I am where I am. Do check out other companies though as Asda are not cheap and you never know if a different supplier might help.

How are you all doing? After my last post I changed my mind re dosage and spacing. I decided to go cold turkey and see what happened. My last dose was 20 August, so 27 days ago and I’ve put on four pounds. I’m going to start taking again and am confident I will lose the four pounds. I’m going to try a month on / month off and see how it goes. Anyone else doing similar or am I completely mad?

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 16/09/2025 19:06

Hi @Greentrilby hope you are well. I haven’t heard of anyone doing month on and off but the effects don’t clear out of system for about a month. Be interested to see how it works for you. What dosage will you do ?
The price rises are awful so going to stretch my dosing out too try and make pen last a little longer. I’m 136 pounds down and approaching 10stone off which I find mind blowing.
So glad I started with my journey when I did as not sure I would start with prices now.
Wishing everyone well ? How is everyone doing?

MrsNessaSmithy · 16/09/2025 20:08

wow @CrystaltipsnoAlistair that’s amazing . I am also at very nearly 10 stone down from my heaviest it really is life changing I feel like a completely different person. I have a question - do you have any skin issue ? I do and am not sure how much weight I need to lose and how much is excess skin.

I have had a small break due to some surgery so am titrating back up. I was very cautious for a couple of weeks as was terrified of nausea whilst also on opiates and immobile. My appetite came back a bit but also I have been bored. Tomorrow I am weighing and getting back to calorie counting and taking accountability.

@Greentrilby I have also not heard of that spacing. I plan to do a lower dose of my 15mg pens and try to stretch them out a bit to save some cash. I am also being optimistic and hoping the pricing will resolve itself in the future as there is new research all the time. I love the ‘fat science’ podcast and it seems we are the beginning of the weight loss drug journey very much.

Greentrilby · 16/09/2025 20:32

@CrystaltipsnoAlistair @MrsNessaSmithy
wow ladies you’ve done really well and I agree it’s definitely life changing.
I’m glad I did most of my weight loss before the huge price hike - it just seems so unfair and greedy. Must be so hard for those just starting or even wanting to start but can’t afford it.

Hopefully as you say science will make a difference - I don’t think it will be too long before jabs will be a thing of the past and you’ll be able to take it orally and the price will come down.
the biggest thing I struggled with during my break was alcohol and I found myself drinking too much again. A glass or two of wine every night and more at the weekend was just so lovely and I kept telling myself it wasn’t doing me any harm. Ha! Who was I kidding! Anyway I’m back on the straight and narrow now so hopefully the alcohol temptation will stop.

QueenOfHiraeth · 16/09/2025 22:34

You ladies are all amazing! I'm in a bit of a rut at the moment, I have just come back from holiday, having gained 4lb so need to get back on track but am struggling to find the track, let alone get back on it. I look at salad and healthy meals, think "nah don't fancy that" so end up eating something like a protein bagel or something more snacky and less healthy. I then find I've had all my calories but not enough protein, fibre or fluids. I need to work out a proper plan and stop making excuses...

Thanks so much @MrsNessaSmithy and @Greentrilby . Your weight losses are amazing.
It is lucky we started early before the huge price hikes and makes me so sad that the prices will drive people away. I hoped to maintain for a while maybe indefinitely on MJ but with the prices am rethinking. Hope you are feeling better @MrsNessaSmithy . I have some loose skin and crepey arms but try not to let it worry me as it is a trade off and better than carrying extra 9 stone plus around. Am hoping it will improve but if not then will live with it. At my age it was bound to be.
@QueenOfHiraeth am sure the 4lb will shift soon. You can gain a lot of water weight on holiday which should go plodding on again with normal eating.
lovely to hear from you all again. These chats certainly help when you know you aren’t alone on this journey.

ClonedSquare · 24/09/2025 18:09

@MrsNessaSmithy I have the same issue with knowing what is loose skin and what is weight still left to lose. I’m thinking of getting a consultation for a body lift and dread getting there and then saying “wtf this is all still fat”. Logically, I know it’s not but I still have the fear! I have a lot of loose skin, particularly around my arms and thighs. I don’t have full on “mounjaro face” but I do have some loose skin under my chin as well.

I’ve not really lost any weight since the end of July, but have been maintaining the loss. The effects just don’t seem to be strong enough to keep me eating healthily, I’m definitely having less cravings but do give in to the ones I do have. I do need to get a grip, but it’s harder to be motivated when I’ve reached a weight I’m content with. I must still be eating considerably less volume than before as I’m maintaining despite having junk. I’m trying to prioritise protein now so I don’t have room for junk and my hair will start growing back again. It looks fine but is noticeably thinner than it was before.

I have one or two more doses left in my final MJ pen and then I have a 1mg Wegovy pen to start. I’m at a weight I’d be happy to maintain, but have read that BMI 30 is the upper limit for skin removal surgery so I’d have about another 1.5 stone to lose to reach that point. But surely some of that weight is the loose skin I want to remove, so it feels harsh to make me lose it all myself first 😂

Greentrilby · 07/03/2026 17:41

Hi folks, anyone around? Just wondered how you are all doing. I’m maintaining but still taking a dose roughly every eight days. I think this is a long term medication for me.

peppercornrent · 07/03/2026 18:24

I'm here, and I have also just joined the Feb 26 starters. After hitting the 100lbs in a year thing I had to take time out to get my head around it all. I messed around for a couple of months, then took about 4 months off and was ill and sedentary for half of it. I put around 25lbs or percent, both work, back on, and have just taken the fourth 2.5 dose since the re-start. Hoping to lose 70lbs this time around, but aiming to do it more slowly by staying on the lowest dose that works.

I think I'll be taking it for a very long time/ever.

Thank you for checking in 😀

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 07/03/2026 18:47

Hi guys. Still here. Have lost 10 1/2 stone and managed to keep it off. Am still on MJ though at a smaller dose. Will probably be on it for life too.
Took me a long time to get used to losing so much weight and seeing a normal size person in the mirror with my face. Think it does take your brain a long time to adjust.

Snozzlemaid · 07/03/2026 18:58

Hi all. I started at the very end of May 2024 and have now lost 7 stone. I had a couple of months when I couldn’t take it last year when I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. I put a few pounds on during that time and it has been very slow going since restarting.
I’ve got a stone to go to get to a healthy BMI and I’m on 12.5mg at the moment. It’s sooo expensive now though, but I’m determined to get to a healthy weight and will then hopefully be able to maintain on a cheaper lower dose.
It has been absolutely life changing though and worth every penny.

A 10 1/2 stone loss is incredible. Well done. I bet you feel amazing.

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 07/03/2026 19:23

Congratulations @Snozzlemaid @peppercornrent @Greentrilby . Everyone has done so well.
Totally agree re the cost of MJ now and so rubbish that pens will only hold 4 doses come April time when Eli change them over. I’m so glad I started in 2024. It’s so expensive but worth it. It was either this or trip to Turkey for gastric surgery. I was so desperate but amazed this has worked.
So nice to hear from you all.

QueenOfHiraeth · 07/03/2026 19:46

I'm in awe of your losses @Greentrilby @peppercornrent @CrystaltipsnoAlistair ! Glad to hear you are getting better @Snozzlemaid, that sounds like a really scary thing to go through!

I am still here too, have lost just over 6st and am a bit in the doldrums, haven't lost for a couple of months now, so need to get back to it.
I'm holding steady at BMI 26-27 but apparently I need to lose about 2 stone to get to my mythical "ideal weight" although I suspect, being mid-60s, that would be too low.
I had a maintenance consultation last week which was excellent, the doctor was reassuring, very down-to-earth and gave great advice so fingers crossed...
I'm looking forward to maintaining and feeling "normal", hoping I can reduce to a much lower dose in the longer term

Wow, you are all still here! Fantastic! We’ve all had different journeys haven’t we and, in particular, Snozzlemaid you’ve had a traumatic one. I hope you reach your goal. I’m still not got my head around my new shape and continue to buy clothes that are too large for me as the smaller ones just look too small. It’s as if my head can’t fathom out what the body it sees in the mirror. And I can’t get to grips with maintenance dosing. I’m currently taking 4mg but am using a 10mg pen to make it most cost effective.

Snozzlemaid · 07/03/2026 22:13

Thank you for all your kind comments.
it was a very scary time but I’m incredibly lucky to have come through it unscathed and have fully recovered.

Let’s hope we all continue to lose or maintain as we need to.

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 08/03/2026 11:15

Great to know everyone is doing okay. Totally understand you @Greentrilby on the sizing front. I always pick up size 12s and think no way will my big hips fit them but they flipping do. It took me about 8 to 10 months and antidepressants to get used to being this size and not feeling so anxious. Dr thinks MJ can lower mood too.
Brilliant loss @QueenOfHiraeth. Maintenance is so tricky. I tried to come down in strength but panicked a bit when my hunger returned. Staying on 5mg see how it goes and if I can reduce. With smaller pens on the way need to try and reduce cost. Nice to be chatting again guys.
