November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Flavoured gin is my go to drink, love it with lemonade, I have lots at home still but rarely drink, if I feel like it I would though, as for me I feel it’s important to not feel deprived, I have a long way to go and this is a forever lifestyle change.

Feels like I've put weight on this week I'm feeling as if I'm due a period again I'm 52 I need a break

Goodgriefisitginfizzoclock · 14/02/2025 20:52

Many thanks to those that made time to comment, it’s really appreciated. This group is a good opportunity to ‘talk’ out loud as I can’t do that IRL as only daughters know and I don’t feel comfortable talking to them about it. Need to up excercise, excuses I know but I work long hours so it’s hard to find the time, work and family takes all my time, I know I should prioritise myself, but, when you’ve put your family first for the past 25 odd years it’s a hard habit to break. I’m determined to loose the weight and improve my health though so anything I’m doing is an improvement on doing bugger all and just feeling rubbish about how I look. Keep going all, impressive losses, but whatever the loss, well done all for keeping on keeping on

I'm at a similar stage to you regarding dose, as I have stayed on 2.5ml since I started at the end of Nov. I had to take a three week break over Xmas due to side effects, but have been able to tolerate it since I restarted in Jan and have continued to lose 1 or 2 pounds a week. The good news is that I'm now noticing even fewer side effects this week, the bad news is I am feeling hungrier and craving naughty foods for the first time too! This has coincided with my period, so I'm sure that is also contributing to the food cravings, but I'm also wondering if maybe it's time to try the 5ml just to get me to the goal weight and stop the food noise.

My thinking originally was that staying on the lower dose might make it easier to stop taking mj and maintain my target weight, as I suspected my will power has been working almost as hard as the medicine. I also wanted to avoid the inevitable side effects from increasing the dose. But this week has made me realise that the effects of the diminished food noise is the real reason I've not been binging on rubbish up until now, and that resisting food binges when I get to GW is going to be when the real challenge begins.

Nsv. I have 5lbs to go to reach “healthy” bmi and would like to lose a stone ideally but these jeans are hanging off me and I’ve taken a moment tonight to celebrate how far I’ve come. I’ve carried 3 babies (2 at the same time) so my tummy is what it is but I really was in denial re my size.

Looking fabulous @TeenLifeMum well done 👏🏻

I wore that skirt and top to work yesterday. Wish I’d taken a comparison pic but the skirt was loose fitting rather than at full stretch!

Quick update from me: 11 st 7.6lb this morning 🥳 so just over 1.5st to go until my first GW. Feeling hopeful I’ll get there for May when I have a holiday booked.

Saw the new Bridget Jones movie last night. It was fantastic. Highly recommend. Take tissues with you though 😭

Off for my fancy 15 (yep, you read that correctly) course lunch in London today. Wish me luck 😂

Loved the Bridget Jones film! Might have to go again! Have a fabulous weekend and hope you enjoyed your tasting menu.

We’re also in London, for a friend’s wedding on Saturday. Have eaten so much rubbish today but it’s been fun and I don’t have much MJ left in my body so hopefully won’t suffer 🤞🏻

Celebrations are like buses, you wait for aaaaages, then a few appear all at once.....

As of today:

  • I'm finally 'overweight' not 'obese' 🎉
  • I've lost 20% of my bodyweight 🎉
  • Gone down into a new stone bracket 🎉

I'm just so happy 😁

2 and a half stone to go - BRING IT ON 💪

I think that’ll be the same for all of us. My challenge will be wine noise, but I know I can do it and you will too. Awareness is a powerful tool we now have in our armoury 💪💪💪

i can resonate with your story entirely, but I’ve really put myself first since November. Beauty treatments, exercise, food priorities- especially eating at a time that suits me- and I feel much better for it. Start off slowly - carve out 15-20mins first thing to do a Joe Wicks or similar consistently. Plenty of free resources and no equipment required. If you start first thing you can go about the rest of your day. Trying to do it later will IME always result in something or someone else taking that 20mins from you. Once you get going, it’ll be part of your day’s normal routine and you can increase from there. You absolutely serve a bit of you time from here on it. 💐

Have you tried Tanquerray 00? The Seville flavoured one is awesome and you literally cannot taste the difference between the alcoholic and non alcoholic one. It’s a revelation!

@lostinchaos my next pen will be 5mg. I am going to move up as food noise is deffo starting to creep back in and I have lots still to lose. Just need that extra boost to keep me going down.

Week 12 update 5mg pen
SW 28 st 1lb
CW 25 st 12lb
Total loss 31lb
Loss this week 1lb
Happy to lose a pound this week as went away for 4 nights in spa hotel, walked a lot, used pool, and stepper in gym x2…..but even though I made good choices, I still ate different to when at home……and that’s ok.

Also as I lost 4lb last week I do usually follow with 1lb loss.

I am still planning to continue 5mg, I have one dose plus bonus left in pen….its working well for me, I have little side effects, occasional burps but really nothing bad, and feel good suppression👍
Did my 3rd lot of measurements today also and am astonished how much they are reducing…..I feel great and so much more energetic…I can’t stop thinking how fantastic this medication is, it still needs commitment and hard work but it’s helping me so much.

Hope everyone is doing ok x

Such a positive post! Congratulations on the losses. Awesome results 🙌

My husband bought me some champagne. Which is lovely.

But for Christmas my main present was 3 (3!) bottles of nice gin.

I like a drink, I certainly do, but not that much! I am starting to think he’s buying me what he wants!

Hope you enjoyed the fizz!
