Wow Smallsalt your legs go on forever! The dark jeans make you look so long and lean and I love the white lacy type top.

i am currently on holiday and it’s so hot. I bought a rash vest and board shorts as I knew I would be playing with kids in the pool a lot and can’t be bothered constantly worrying about burning. Size 12 and I feel amazing in them. I plan to get a photo of me in them as no one has taken one yet. And the best bit about the board shorts which are bikini bottoms on the inside but look like shorts and are impossible to accidentally flash anyone in are you don’t have to check your bikini line every day! I am converted! Me in a bikini - not so good. Me in surf swimwear - gorgeous!

spamm · 16/06/2025 16:34

Wow @Smallsalt - you do look bloody brilliant. Those legs are fantastic!

@Choux - have fun, and flaunt the new board shorts! Then come back with a tan, and look even more fabulous!.

@PissedOffNeighbour22 , @RagzRebooted and @Everdecreasingcircumferences, I am also in the "ice cream melted" group. I am working on my arms and thighs, and I can see them slowly improving, but I am not sure the loose skin is ever going to go completely.

I continue on 12.5, and I agreed with my doctor that I am staying there for the foreseeable future. My type 2 diabetes is under control and she does not need to see me for 6 months. I like it, and side effects are minimal. I am going through a bout of sulfur burps right now - no idea why, but it's not too bad. I am still losing, but very, very slowly. I think I have lost 5 pounds in the last 5 months, which is fine by me. My BMI is at 23.5 and I don't remember ever having such rock hard thigh muscles.

I went to visit my parents at their lake condo this weekend, but the weather was miserable, so I did not get into my swimsuit. However, anyone who has known me there for many years was so surprised to see the "new" me, and some did not recognize me until they saw my DH and figured out who I was.

I have been looking at old photos too. I wore this last weekend, and I just felt so good in myself, which is not something I remember thinking in a VERY long time. It is nice to feel kindly about my body, even despite the saggy bits.

You look great @spamm I always think it looks so classy when you dress head to toe in one colour and your outfit has just the right amount of drape to it.

ThirdStorm · 17/06/2025 09:06

Love all these confident photos! I’m glad MJ has got us feeling so good and helping us reach our goals!

spamm · 17/06/2025 18:58

Thanks @Choux - that is exactly what I was going for. I have never intentionally tried to put together an outfit in the same color/different tones and textures, and I had read how it makes a difference. I also wore a cropped tan jacket. I am going to try to do that more, which means I have to be more intentional when buying clothes.

MountKilimounjaro · 17/06/2025 20:06

I’ve finally made it to my goal weight. I cannot believe it. The last stone took a good three months to shift but here I am. Over 7 stone gone and an entirely different person in so many ways. Oh wow.

@spamm I have those same trousers and absolutely love them. You look fantastic.

You’re right about thinking kindly about our bodies. It’s been such a long time since I’ve been able to be kind to myself. It feels good but negativity is a hard cycle to break.

My Biggest revelation is how much I like clothes and how fun getting dressed in the morning is.

This will be my first summer not having deep anxiety about what to wear and how to keep cool.

Notsuchafattynow · 17/06/2025 21:51

Congratulations 🎊 @MountKilimounjaro !!

That's an amazing achievement 👏

Wonkypictureframe · 17/06/2025 22:47

Amazing, @MountKilimounjaro ! That’s a fantastic achievement.

KeepUndercover · 17/06/2025 22:56

Fantastic stuff @MountKilimounjaro, you must feel incredible.

Moanranger · 18/06/2025 15:11

Great look @spamm - so nice to wear loose outfits for style purposes rather than to hide lumps & bumps!
I had weight verification video call with Oushk yesterday, very straightforward & efficient, took photo of I.d., then inverted phone over scales whilst I stood on them to confirm weight. This must be way better for them, rather than having to sort through random out of focus selfies.

GrimDamnFanjo · 18/06/2025 15:54

Just checking in.
great to read everyone’s updates.
im still at around bmi 26,I have around another 20lbs to go. I tend to eat very low carb so if I go away then I will actually come back several pounds heavier, which is a bit dispiriting tbh.
i tend to measure myself around every 6 weeks and had a shock this week - I’ve lost 10 inches from my waist and 14 inches from my hips!
I’ve tentatively started to look at abdominoplasty - as a possibility in 2026. I had an emcs with my eldest which didn’t go well from my stomachs pov and then a second and with the added weight since then I feel very self conscious. I’m considering Nordesthetics and have started to research.
other than that I’m plodding on but still Vinting away!

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 18/06/2025 19:23

Hello all

Gosh it's warm! Not sleeping too well in the heat - who needs a foreign holiday when it's so hot here! (Well ok I don't mean that - would love a holiday!).
Still bouncing around up and down a kilo, muscle mass is increasing so clothes are getting looser even if the scales aren't dropping as much. Feeling closer to a size 12 now, Matalan 12 is baggy but I find them generously sized.
Have done 3 gym sessions this week so far so one more to do, though I need to up my steps/cardio. Hit a PB lifting weight this week so gym is definitely working, I was there at 6am today and was thinking who am I, it's so not me!
Love the photos, you all look great and should be so proud of your achievements - they have not come easily.
Work is pants but home life is good (but busy) and that's what really matters. Am looking for a new job, need to change my commute as I cant manage the gym on days I have a 3 hour round trip and I really want to keep this exercise momentum going for as long as possible. Exercise is so very much easier than it used to be when I weighed more, I have definitely lost some strength but I think focusing on the weightloss last year was more important as I was overwhelmed at the thought of trying to start exercising again at the same time.
Am enjoying salads now that summer appears to have arrived, have a pair of denim shorts that look amazing on (am ignoring the wobbly thighs) and am enjoying wearing vest tops now that my arms are so much more shapely (ignoring the loose skin by the underarm and baggy elbow - only someone hypercritical would notice and surely no one is scrutinising me that much apart from myself?).
Am trying hard to focus on the wins - heading to our heads office next week and most of my team haven't seen me in person for ages so I think there will be some surprised faces.
Hope you're all looking forward to showing a bit more skin than you did last summer now that we don't feel the need to hide quite so much any more!

KeepUndercover · 19/06/2025 09:18

Lovely to hear updates and positivity. What a long way everyone has come!

I have found a small solution to my disappearing bust problem. Couple of padded inserts from a packet of M&S crop tops make for a smooth and comfy bra stuffer. I hadn't found a padded bra that I liked so this is the DIY option.

Soukmyfalafel · 19/06/2025 10:21

Really nice to see everyone's photos and updates. I haven't been able to post on here much lately, but have been checking in. I do miss this thread a lot. Congrats @MountKilimounjaro. That must feel very good!

@spamm you look great too. That looks like a beautiful place.

@Choux I've never been very comfortable in swimwear. I have a long body and not long legs, so I'm always pulling the costume out of my bum! I like the idea of a vest and shorts and it's much more forgiving if you are running after kids. I used to be a fan of swim dresses in my bigger days, but they still don't always cover the bum. Even though I'm a size 10 now I'm reluctant to get my saggy belly out, so might go for the surfer girl look myself.

KrankyKumquat · 19/06/2025 10:27

@Soukmyfalafel
I'm having the same problem with wedgies now I'm down to a size 10. I'm assuming smaller sizes are also shorter in the length from waist to crotch; it's very annoying and affecting new knickers, shorts and pyjama bottoms.
Just bought some lovely, very cheap board shorts from Amazon and I'm constantly hoicking at 'em. Gonna try @walkonthebeach for a swimming short and top set, fingers crossed.

Scalessayeek · 19/06/2025 20:33

@GrimDamnFanjo I'm going with Nords! I've done a tonne of research and infiltrated some groups, seems to be a really high percentage of happy customers. I'm hoping for a breast lift alongside a 360 fdl tummy tuck and then possibly an arm lift and thigh lift a year or two after.

I'm 10 stone down nearly and have been maintaining for a while but need to get some money behind me first.

Choux · 20/06/2025 04:20

These are the shorts I have. They have a bikini bottom inside so no wedgies. They are super comfortable. I wear them with a long sleeve SPF 50 swim shirt from the same company.

RagzRebooted · 21/06/2025 18:05

@spamm looking fantastic in that outfit
@MountKilimounjaro well done the 7 stone, that's amazing
@KrankyKumquat yes! I bought the same knickers I own but in a smaller size and although they look great they just keep riding into my bum, so I'll have to buy some different ones!
@Choux I converted to shorts for swimwear years ago for bikini-line reasons. If I shave there I get red bumps and ingrowing hairs, so I don't. I trim, but they grow about an inch at least down my thighs so bikini bottoms just aren't going to happen.
@Everdecreasingcircumferences we're in a similar place, I've been around the same kg for a month now but clothes are looser, I actually bought 2 size 12s the other day (including denim shorts, finally found a fit and length that work on my shape) that both fit after convincing myself it was just the Tu sizing being big when I got my first pair of size 12 jeans last month! I do have to sit a certain way in shorts so my thighs don't upset me too much.

I went bra shopping the other day and I'm now a 32E, started at a 38DD so I have lost a few cup sizes. Poor DD couldn't find anything in M&S in her size as she's a 28F, so will have to order online.
My DSis has joined us on the MJ bandwagon after agonising over affordability for ages. I promised her she will save on wine and takeaways!

KrankyKumquat · 23/06/2025 10:56

Morning all!
I'm after some advice from those of you using Renpho scales, and working on fitness on maintenance.
I'm struggling with the mental side of not losing further weight but really want to improve fitness. I'm finding that if I gain a little bit of weight (which i know is ok to do at my weight), my fat stats worsen and my muscle stats don't improve or get worse, despite increasing strength exercising. This is messing with my motivation pretty badly.
Has anyone had any success with shifting the dial the other way on Renpho scales or am I just wasting my time trying to use them in this way? I know they're not reckoned to be entirely accurate but I've found them really useful up to now but at the moment, they seem to be working against me (or am I not just working out hard enough?). I've attached latest stats for info where you can see I'm still barely out of Obese on the fat stats.

Any input would be gratefully received!

Wonkypictureframe · 23/06/2025 11:46

My Renpho have me stubbornly sat in the yellow on subcut fat still, although my BMI is 20. But it’s building muscle that will shift it as that’s a percentage - so if you increase the percentage of muscle in your body, it will lower the percentage of fat.

KrankyKumquat · 23/06/2025 11:57

OK @Wonkypictureframe , thank you, that's helpful. My subcutaneous is only in green by 0.1...I hadn't clocked the relationship with the two percentages. I've also just noticed that muscle mass + bone mass = fat free mass. So this should increase, mine's still falling so I'm still not building any muscle. Damn...

Wonkypictureframe · 23/06/2025 12:31

Yes. My muscle mass has fallen by half a stone in the last eight months. Really not ideal.

KrankyKumquat · 24/06/2025 08:17

@Wonkypictureframe
My muscle mass is apparently down 2st in a year! It's a wonder i can even get off the sofa 😅. It's so weird as I feel fantastic - strong, fitter, able to do stuff so much easier than previously, increased number of squats, better cardio, etc. Yet I'm apparently not building muscle, in fact it's still dropping 🤷‍♀️

RagzRebooted · 25/06/2025 07:35

@KrankyKumquat it's hard not to get too invested in the Renpho numbers! I'm sorely tempted to get a Dexa scan, they do them for £130 near me. But I'd have to get another to compare it to I suppose, shame I didn't do one at the start. But they're a lot more accurate.

Soukmyfalafel · 26/06/2025 08:41

I am getting a bit obsessive about building muscle. Going to the gym does help. I weight train due to a son with complex needs who is getting stronger and harder to manage. I need to be able to run after him if he decides to run off and have the strength to keep him out of danger, which he frequently puts himself in. Vanity and comfort is also a part of it though! I do want to look nice in clothes and have always hated waistbands, and it is just more comfortable without the weight.

My scales do a bit of analysis but aren't that fancy, so I don't know how accurate they are. My body fat is OK. I'm stupidly trying to go for an athletic build of under 20%, which I don't think is really achievable at my age, and I don't really have the time to dedicate to it anyway. I did think I lost muscle last year, but I've definitely gained it back so try not to worry too much. It's a process. My arms are pretty good and I can feel muscle under my saggy belly, but weirdly it's the legs that are proving difficult to build muscle on. I always complained of short muscly legs as a teen, so it's strange. I've given up trying to look decent naked, just focusing on health and looking better in clothes. My face has taken a hammering too sadly. I suppose health is the most important thing though.

It has been nice to read everyone's journey and NSVs, and also the bits we are not so happy about too, as you would just imagine everyone looks great and there are no negatives to the weight loss.
