Has anyone started on a micro dose of mounjaro? How many clicks?

I can’t seem to find out how many clicks to microdose my pen to avoid side effects. 😓

Well this certainly isn't shedding any light.

If you're interested in microdosing GLP-1 agonists, I'd ignore DietingFool and listen to Dr Kevin Joseph, a doctor who has lost loads of weight microdosing himself and has made some very helpful videos.

Micro dosing comes from psychedelics, where people took a tiny fraction of the dose on a very regular basis, that’s the basis for it.

micro dosing is not, taking an irrelevant and non impactful amount of a glp 1 once a week and using the term as it hit the internet and is seen as trendy.

however if folks want to think they are micro dosing fair enough. It is irrelevant. I’m off to cut a nurofen in quarters and micro dose that.

The thing is, you’re wrong mate. The definition says you’re wrong, in my years of microdosing psilocybin I’ve never heard it used in that way - it’s got fuck all to do with frequency and everything to do with the size of the actual dose. Hence the suffix MICRO which means “extremely small”.

But if you want to think that this one word refers not just to the size but also strangely, to the frequency, then you carry on as you are.

Meanwhile the rest of the world can continue this conversation about microdosing without being told off by you.

Funny 😁 😂

I think some lucky people are super receptive to the benefits and don't have to take large doses. I'm like that with every drug tbh. Hence I tend to steer clear of even ibuprofen etc.

Just wanted to say how helpful the posts are from the people who are responding to the title of this thread - thank you. Perhaps for those people who object to the idea - this isn’t the thread for you? Seems to me this is all quite new and people are figuring things out based on their own experiences. Personally I am really struggling w side effects in week 1 so very interested to hear how people are managing to titrate up slowly or stay at lower doses and the impact it has had for them - so thank you to those who have contributed.

I’m glad you find it helpful. I just listened to the Dr Kevin podcast just now that @OldChairMan posted and it was very informative. He made the point that everyone is different and that it’s worth playing around with smaller doses to find what is right for you.

@Finallydoingit24
I've just watched the video and it's really useful. Some particularly interesting points for me were:
As 2.5mg is not a therapeutic dose, any dose less than 5mg is a microdose.
Studies show, for initial optimal weight loss, most participants needed to be on a dose of at least 5mg.
Microdosing is, therefore, of use particularly during maintenance.
The issue of drug half life is important. The half life of MJ is 5 days and it takes 20 days (4 half life's) for the drug to leave the body. It follows therefore that at 2nd dose, for example, you'll have more than 5mg in your body. So, changing the schedule can become relevant when trying to work out an optimal microdose - a 2mg dose every 5 days might work better for some than one every 7 days.

Lots of talk about working with your HCP on getting the right dose, getting regular bloods, etc which is always the case with US videos and one which we really struggle with (either we're just working with on-line prescribers or our docs know less than us about glps). Most pharmacies won't even countenance discussion of going off label so we're really on our own with this. I'm going to be at 4mg next month on maintenance having reduced gradually from 10mg; my pharmacist doesn't know this 🤷

I did a half dose for my first injection because I'm a scaredy cat 🤣

If I was to go back again though I'd just do the 2.5 right off the bat. You will be fine op.

So did I, having cleared that it was a safe thing to do with an endocrinologist first. I got a total elimination of food noise with 1.25mg and haven't needed to go higher.

Some people (a small minority) get intolerable side effects on 2.5mg and generally that is the end of Mounjaro for them.

Finallydoingit24 · 13/02/2025 07:43

Okay I thought I’d do an update on my microdose results for anyone who doubts it works or thinks it’s placebo. I started on 30 clicks of a 2.5mg pen so 1.25 and now do 40 clicks so about 1.7. My reasons are fear of side effects and also wanting something that I can maintain longer term (if I get total hunger suppression then if I come off it I won’t know how to cope with hunger).

Side effects: very few. A bit of burping but not sulphur burps, just normal ones.
Suppression: initially quite a lot of suppression but now I would say not much. I feel hungry for meals but I don’t have cravings for sugary stuff and am satisfied with healthy stuff. I can eat something and not immediately want to eat the whole packet. I couldn’t do that before.

And now for the results. I know what rate I usually lose weight at because it’s not my first rodeo. My rate of loss on a normal diet (which inevitably id give up after a couple of weeks) was about a kilo a week. I can hand on heart say that taking even a microdose of Mounjaro has led to results that far outweigh my expectations.

I am now 3.5 weeks in (took 4th jab on Monday).
Height: 170cm/ 5’7”
SW: 87.8 kg (193.5 lb or 13 stone 11.5)
CW: 81.3 kg (179.2 lb or 12 stone 11.2)

I have lost a stone in 3 weeks. Gobsmacked. I have been eating around 1600 cals a day so not starving myself. I want to lose another two stone to get to goal weight but I feel so motivated now!

I am not advocating for anyone else to try microdosing but for me it works. I am also going to choose to use my pen for 35 rather than 30 days but again, not advocating for it and it’s my personal choice.

This is really helpful, thanks. I'm just starting this week and hope to start with a half dose. I'm 11 stone and very short and often over-react to drugs!

This is the point I’ve reached at 2.5mg after 1 dose. The suppression I’m experiencing is amazing and I wouldn’t want to eat any less than I currently feel I can handle but the side effects are almost more than I can cope with:

  • swollen glands
  • a severe ache in my shoulders, neck, back and clavicle
  • Insomnia
  • Feeling like I have flu
  • fatigue and weakness
Spoke to Numan about it and the best they had was “these are not listed on the indications” on that interaction alone I feel like cancelling my subscription! MJs last chance will be if I can face a lower dose at a point when this weeks dose feels like it’s worn off. I can’t live like this.
OldChairMan · 01/04/2025 13:05

Have a look at Dr Kevin Joseph's videos, @Iamnewaroundhere. First one:

Some American doctors are using tiny doses, much lower than my half-dose, and some people lose weight on a really low dose. Could have a look on the Reddit Mounjaro microdosing threads.

AskAl · 01/04/2025 13:56

I halved my first two weeks dose of Mourjana. I took only 1.25 mg. I was very scared of side effects which some people get even at their starter 2.5 mg dose. I am particularly sensitive to all medications. So This way I could observe any reaction. Things were fine so I went up to 2 x 1.25 mg per week ie 2.5 mg in total. I am now on 7.5 mg per week. I have gone up cautiously as I don’t want to be ill with side effects I could avoid by foi g more slowly.

Thanks. He explains what micro-dosing is. He’s neither for nor against, but says it can be useful for some people.

AskAl · 01/04/2025 15:10

@Iamnewaroundhere Why don’t you start micro-dosing eg 0.5 mg per week and see how you get on with that?If you are getting incredible suppression but terrible side effects at 2.5 mg, this seems the logical thing to do. You can then build up slowly, if necessary.

Moier · 01/04/2025 15:17

The pen only lasts 30 days so even after 4 clicks for the month.. it can't be used.. .

AskAl · 01/04/2025 15:27

Yes, you will use less than a whole pen as a result. But thats better than forcing yourself to use a higher dose that is making you sick with side effects. Everyone reacts differently to GLP1s.

Five weekly clicks in 30 days, or more if you are dosing at shorter intervals.

I don’t use the remaining liquid but you can definitely do 5 doses in 30 days

days 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29

In the information pack I received from Numan it says the pen should be used 6 weeks from first dose. The pens also have a long expiration if they are not used.

SilenceInside · 01/04/2025 18:16

@Iamnewaroundhere Numan are wrong if that’s in their literature. It directly contradicts what Eli Lilly say in their leaflets that accompany the medication. Perhaps it’s worth you contacting Numan to point out that they have a factual error in their literature.

Do you still have it? I would be double checking and raising that with them as it’s against manufacturer guidelines
