It's thread 22 time! As usual please fill up the previous thread before we make a start on this one.

Huge congratulations to every one who has made losses, and well done to those who have graduated the mounjaro club! We would love you to come back and share your tips for maintenance so we can all continue to learn and grow from each other.

Pointers for newbies:
Please note: Mounjaro will only be be prescribed initially if your BMI is above 30. If you have additional health conditions you can get the medication with a BMI 27. (Prediabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart problems)

This one's the most recent I will also post the image.

Just to copy from the previous thread as it's highly useful information:

MabelSpan:
For those who love their carbs, I grow my own veg, including lots of potatoes so eat them most days. You can dramatically increase the amount of resistant starch, a type of fibre, in your potatoes, rice and pasta and bread simply by cooking then cooling, ideally overnight or freezing in the case of bread and then reheating or toasting in the case of bread.

Please remember to do this safely if this is something you would like to do.

In light of being in close proximity to someone who has had complications from Mounjaro, I just want to say for any newbies: We are a wonderful community of Mounjaro users with a wealth of knowledge between us, but we're not a medical service. We are all people who have acknowledged the risk to benefit ratio, and are following our clinicians advice. If you do have any serious side effects listed on the information sheet that comes with your medication, please seek medical advice.

There are no questions too silly, no loss too small to celebrate, no hurdle not worth the challenge and huge congratulations to everyone who has made it this far in their journey and once again, welcome to thread 22.

Congratulations @Vamozz on your amazing loss.

I appeared to put 2kg back on out of nowhere overnight last week but thankfully it's dropping back down again. 100.80kg today. I couldn't understand how because it feels impossible to physically eat enough to gain 2kg back but over the course of 8 days we did take DS and cousins children out a lot and there were a lot of sweet treats involved.

The amount of icecreams and sticky messy donuts and crumbly sausage rolls that they've half eaten and decided they don't want any more while we're in a nice clean car or no where near a bin has been quite high so I have definitely eaten quite a calorific amount in what seemed at the time to be quite small portions of left overs. They have all been forced in though because even as they've passed them over to me I've thought guh and I'm really really trying to listen to my body so it went directly against listening to my body and what it needs.

I am in my crazy week again where my weight seems to go up a lb, we'll stick here for 7-10 days then drop. At least I am noticing a pattern. Not going to stress about it as I am away for the weekend and I am going to eat what I want. Am sure the MJ will stop me from doing too much damage though as still only want small portions.

This is a pattern with me too. I’m trying to reassure myself that it will work out in the end but it’s very frustrating. I’m away next week for a few days and hoping it will be a good reset.

GlueNoGlue · 25/10/2024 09:18

Weigh day for me. 3lb down this week which means I’ve officially lost 6 stone!!!!! 2lb away from my original goal weight which just seemed impossible when I started in March, it’s so close now I can feel it! I’m celebrating with cake (Halloween Colin the caterpillar) and then back on it tomorrow to get these last 2lb gone and a new goal set for Christmas :) thank you all so much for the help and advice, this group is the best!

@GlueNoGlue that’s fantastic! What are you planning when you reach that weight? Slowly come off Mounjaro or a maintenance dose?

Ghilliedu · 25/10/2024 09:53

@diian you look absolutely fantastic - well done!

@GlueNoGlue wow 6 stone is such an achievement, congratulations! I started with similar to lose and according to my app I’m 59% of the way there. Sometimes I feel like I’ll never get there but hearing success stories like yours really keeps me motivated!

NearlyNewHip · 25/10/2024 09:57

@GlueNoGlue Congratulations!!!! You must be so chuffed x x

FarriersGirl · 25/10/2024 10:08

@GlueNoGlue That is really amazing!! Congratulations!🎉

GlueNoGlue · 25/10/2024 10:16

Thanks everyone! I’m so happy!

@Jimmyneutronsforehead its the weight of my 9 year old child. I’ve lost a full 9 year old in weight this year! It’s horrific when I think of it like that!

@TheCatterall i haven't decided yet. I’m hoping to keep going until Christmas and then look at how to reduce down. I’ve completely changed the way I eat and how I think about food, so I’m hoping that’ll still work when I come off, but I’m not sure it will. I’ll have been on it for nearly a year by then so I’m hoping my new habits will have taken hold. Also expecting to get a lot of advice on here from others who’ve already done it :)

I don't think it's horrific at all I think wow you're so AMAZING.

Some people take longer than that to shift baby weight. Baby weight. YOUVE LOST A WHOLE 9 YEAR OLD CHILD WORTH OF WEIGHT! That's no small achievement, that's absolutely so amazing.

@Vamozz just wondering what combination of vitamins you take from nutrition geek?? I am also suffering with the hair loss recently, I've upped my protein intake, added in a collagen powder to my morning tea and started on biotin, but could probably do with more vitamins/supplements in general anyway!!

MelainesLaugh · 25/10/2024 11:55

Congratulations on everyone’s weight loss!

5lb more and I’m at a 2stone loss. I’m now lower than when I first weighed myself on these scales in June 2022. I stayed on 5mg for a second month and I’m now regretting it, but I have a spare 2.5mg pen so this week I’m going to give myself 7.5mg using the two pens.

I found on the NHS app my weight going back to 2005. That’s given me something to work towards.

I am full of cold at the moment though and all I want is chicken cuppa soup. Not sure if that’s going to help or hinder.

Congratulations on your amazing achievements thus far! You must be so proud of yourself and rightly so!

I started in August at 20.3, currently 2 stone down, and am hoping to follow in your footsteps and some!

QueenOfHiraeth · 25/10/2024 12:48

@MelainesLaugh I saw a US doctor talking about split doses a while back. She said it is not ideal as 2 small doses may absorb differently to one larger one but, if it had to be done, she said new needle for each, which you would do anyway with 2 pens, and try to inject them as close together as you possibly can. She said literally aim for the same spot with both as that is as close as you can get to one dose

Snozzlemaid · 25/10/2024 13:40

@GlueNoGlue Wow! Fantastic loss.

I love reading of everyone's losses and when you hit goals you've set yourself.

My achievement today is I've finally reached my 4 stone loss, since starting MJ at the end of May.

When I started I was 18st 6lbs, so should really lose 8 stone to get to a healthy weight.
I never ever thought I would do it, but I've now completed 50% of that goal, so it's all downhill now 😂 and I really feel I can do this.

These threads have kept me going and been a real inspiration.
I look forward to reading of your continued successes.

Hi @snickleback

I'm taking the supermarket seven bundle plus magnesium. There is a 30% discount using a code.
As I said, I'm also using the Champo serum every day. I've been specifically using it on my hairline and that's where I've noticed the baby hairs starting to grow. A colleague recommended it to me.

Continuing Mounjaro... Part 22
JamieFrasersSassenach · 25/10/2024 18:38

@GlueNoGlue that is amazing!!! Well done!! You must feel so proud of yourself.

I'm about 2.5 stone down so far - not sure how much more I want to lose - at least another stone and a half and then I'll see from there.

I already feel terrified of how I'll cope without MJ - not just the lack of food noise but the not wanting to drink alcohol, feeling more clear headed than I have in my whole adult life, honestly I would be so happy to just stay on a maintenance dose forever once I get to my goal. But I'm worried that I might not be able to afford it or be able to keep getting it prescribed.

I can't spend the rest of my life losing this 4-5 stone on MJ and then gaining it back and starting again.

I just don't think that anyone who has never been obese/struggled with their weight could possibly understand just how life changing this drug is.

Anyway - well done to everyone. You are all so inspirational Flowers

GlueNoGlue · 25/10/2024 19:05

@JamieFrasersSassenach I keep telling myself that I can always go back into it if I’m really struggling. I know it’s available now and I’ve been on it a while so I’ve got the chance to learn good habits. I feel like I’m in a good headspace to really let this change my life? I eat fruit and veg now, I even joined an exercise class! I’m feeling really positive (this might change when I come off and is definitely heavily influenced by the chocolate cake I’ve just eaten 😂)

diian · 25/10/2024 19:23

6 stone... WOW! Well done @GlueNoGlue

JamieFrasersSassenach · 25/10/2024 20:00

@GlueNoGlue that's what I keep saying to myself too. But then I remember how different I felt pre-MJ, how completely driven by food I was and I don't ever want to feel that way again - I'm terrified that once I'm off the jabs I will feel that way again - I'm probably more concerned about that than actual weight gain.

I like the 'not bothered by food' me that I am now. I'm finally eating to live and no longer living to eat and I love it!!

GlueNoGlue · 25/10/2024 20:10

@JamieFrasersSassenach thats exactly how I feel! It’s like a panic that the food obsessions will come back and the binge eating. I’m trying to be positive and I know I can go back on MJ if I start to fail

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 25/10/2024 20:50

Gosh I really can't eat today, the last time I felt like this was probably my 2nd or 3rd week on 2.5 😂 guess I had it coming after complaining about lowered suppression.

Insomnia this week has also been insane. If any one has any insomnia tips short of finding a genuine cast iron skillet and giving myself a swift bonk on the head with it I would really appreciate it.
