It's thread 22 time! As usual please fill up the previous thread before we make a start on this one.

Huge congratulations to every one who has made losses, and well done to those who have graduated the mounjaro club! We would love you to come back and share your tips for maintenance so we can all continue to learn and grow from each other.

Pointers for newbies:
Please note: Mounjaro will only be be prescribed initially if your BMI is above 30. If you have additional health conditions you can get the medication with a BMI 27. (Prediabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart problems)
Mumsnet does not allow promo codes. Please do not post any. If you want one, ask and someone will PM you a code or there are now threads on the promo page that have codes for Mounjaro link below:

This one's the most recent I will also post the image.

Just to copy from the previous thread as it's highly useful information:

https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/cooling-resistant-starch#TOC_TITLE_HDR_6

MabelSpan:
For those who love their carbs, I grow my own veg, including lots of potatoes so eat them most days. You can dramatically increase the amount of resistant starch, a type of fibre, in your potatoes, rice and pasta and bread simply by cooking then cooling, ideally overnight or freezing in the case of bread and then reheating or toasting in the case of bread.

Please remember to do this safely if this is something you would like to do.

In light of being in close proximity to someone who has had complications from Mounjaro, I just want to say for any newbies: We are a wonderful community of Mounjaro users with a wealth of knowledge between us, but we're not a medical service. We are all people who have acknowledged the risk to benefit ratio, and are following our clinicians advice. If you do have any serious side effects listed on the information sheet that comes with your medication, please seek medical advice.

There are no questions too silly, no loss too small to celebrate, no hurdle not worth the challenge and huge congratulations to everyone who has made it this far in their journey and once again, welcome to thread 22.

So taking 5 on day 1 and 2.5 on day 2 gave me no side effects but I have still been ravenous again by late day 5 and day 6 to the point of developing nausea and the only way it goes away is if I sit and shame eat in the dark under the cloak of nightfall with just the glow of the fridge to light this path of darkness I have chosen like a depraved little supervillian starting out an origin story.

I'm gonna try upping it. I'm going to do 6 on day 1 and 3 on day 2. I'm probably going to have to draw it out with an insulin pin though because if crocheting has taught me anything it is that I can't count.

Edited

Wouldn't separating the doses more give you a more stable amount of suppression? So day 1 and day 3 or 4?

Honestly, I don't know. I tried splitting the 7.5 so on day 1 I took 5 as the minimum therapeutic dose and topped up the 2.5 on day 5. Because of the chaos day one often ended up being day 2 or 3 and vice versa. 7.5 was just too much to take at once but ideally I would have been able to just take it once a week.

It has consistently felt like both 7.5 is too much and not enough, and I thought if I could just get as close to 7.5 within 24 hours then I would have higher suppression for longer. I gave it a go, and no side effects which was fantastic but still really really struggling with suppression towards the end of the week.

Writing it down it probably does make sense to try it how you've said first, so slightly higher dose, but go back to splitting it over more days. I'll try that for 2 weeks, that makes more sense to do doesn't it. Try it and repeat the test.

This is why it's so good to have you guys. Problems shared are problems halved.

Pop it into the plotter, @Jimmyneutronsforehead, and you'll see which option gives the most stable level of MJ:

Feeling great at the moment. I suddenly seem to have bones where they haven't been seen for years. Cheek bones, collar bones, hip bones. I'm noticing real differences in how my Cortes fit as well and just realised that I'm going to need an entire new wardrobe for my holiday to Barbados next year.

Sw 9th August. 17st 5
Cw today 15st 3

Thirty pound loss in 10 weeks and my bmi was 39.2 and is now 34.4 so down almost 5 points.

I'm currently on my second 5mg pen and I'm considering another month on it. I am responding really well and it is doing everything I need it to. I have struggled with severe constipation but have found that taking dulcolax every 2-3 days really helps and I've been making date and cocoa balls with a few added finely chopped prunes and that definitely helps to get things moving.

TryingAgainAgainAgain · 16/10/2024 11:54

I think I've done this right, @Jimmyneutronsforehead, but better if someone else can double check.

First screenshot is as you are at the moment, with the 2.5 dose taken on day 2 (ie offset by 1 day)

Second screenshot is with the 2.5 dose taken on day 4 (ie offset by 3 days)

So with dosing 2.5 mg on day 4 you don't dip quite as low (see screenshots).

Hello!

I've been trying to use that GLP plotter but I can't seem to work it right or understand it.

I was on 2.4mg for 4 weeks, 5mg 4 weeks, and now 7.5mg 4 weeks.

Could anyone work that out for me or explain what it is showing?

Thanks

Mumins · 16/10/2024 12:54

did anyone else who orders through med express had their referral credit removed? someone used my code and I wanted to use the credit against my order but the credit is not there?

Mumins · 16/10/2024 13:17

Never happened to me, but I reckon I read somewhere it could happen if they’re rejected or basically the order ends up cancelled?!

Fuffedoff · 16/10/2024 13:56

Thank you so much, that makes things so much clearer!

So basically at the start of the week then dose in my system is high, then reduces before my next jab day.

So if I had 7.5mg on Fri, that may only be approx 5mg now? (Not accurate figures)

Oooh do you have a recipe for those date balls? I could do with a bit of help right now & I've got dried dates, prunes & cocoa in the house.

TryingAgainAgainAgain · 16/10/2024 14:18

That's right, @Fuffedoff. Screenshot shows (approximately) your situation at the end of week 12.

The half life of Mounjaro is approx 5 days, so half of any one dose will have left your body five days later. But, as you are taking it weekly your base level increases over time.

Just had a message from the Family Chemist to say that they are adding more delivery options including DPD delivery and collection from local shops, if that's of interest,

WitchyBits · 16/10/2024 15:42

@MamaBearH

I just blitz dates and a few prunes, a big blob of nut butter, a splash of maple Syrup to bring it together and cocoa powder. Then ball it up and roll in coconut. I've also added in fudge brownie or chocolate whey protein to up the protein and I've got to say I'm really impressed as they really do hit the spot for a sweet treat. I freeze mine and take 1-2 out of the freezer every day.

Hi all wonderful fellow losers!

Just checking in with my latest update and I’ve now lost a total of 3 and a half stone! 49 whole flipping pounds in 22 weeks = 2.2lb average loss/week which I’m really pleased.

Only 7lb left to lose to reach my target weight and a healthy BMI. Un-bloody-believable 🤣

It’s been interesting reading about our BMI over the last few pages of this thread. I’m 5’8 and have a large build (size 8 feet) Even at my lightest weight, in my early 20’s, the lowest weight for me was 11 stone and a size 12/14.

Starting weight 15’11 BMI 33.6
Today’s weight 12’3
Goal weight 11’10 BMI 25

As always, thank you to everyone on here for your incredible support, advice and inspiration 😍

Not lost weight in 12 days at 1000 calories. Everyone keeps telling me to eat up for a few days so I've had as shit day at work and I'm having wine and chips. Mostly like won't go over 1400 still but let's see if it has an impact - one way or another!

TryingAgainAgainAgain · 16/10/2024 21:33

Congratulations @Pinkbendyman, target firmly in sight!

So if I've worked that graph out right, imputing all my jabs from the start to now -I should have a base of 7.2mg by the time I take my last 5mg jab? So it actually wouldn't be that big a jump to 7.5mg?? When I moved from 2.5mg I went to 3 then 3.75 for 2 weeks before having the courage to do 5mg. The horror stories scared me into not moving straight from 2.5 to 5mg. If that graph is correct then moving from 5 to 7.5mg shouldn't be that much of a shock.
Am I reading it right?
