My DH offered me a biscuit tonight which I turned down, and he asked if I’d given them up. I told him I hadn’t as such, I just couldn’t bring myself to eat one even if I wanted to. I couldn’t even really describe it, it was such an odd feeling.

supadupapupascupa · 06/09/2024 22:27

Re protein.....
I found myself snacking on some cold basa fillet I had in the fridge which really went down well! So today I fried up some chicken breast in salt and pepper and slathered it in lemon juice ready for snacking or adding to salad etc, and also cooked a piece of salmon for the same.
I'm struggling to think what to eat as I don't "fancy" anything so food that tastes good and is ready prepped is helping.
I also discovered a fish cake with salad at lunch hits the spot too!

MissFancyDay · 06/09/2024 22:46

@Jimmyneutronsforehead @AutumnComing2 @supadupapupascupa

Thanks for the tips, I will add tuna, nuts, feta and mince to my repertoire. I don't fancy any other fish for some reason.

I wish avocados were high in protein as I could eat them all day.

GoodLuckBabe · 06/09/2024 23:07

Another one struggling to get protein in, my main side effect seems to be nausea since going up to 5mg, and all I really fancy is salt and vinegar crisps and salty chocolate digestives. At the start was liking things like BabyBels as an easy way to get protein in but have gone right off them! Any ideas for salty, crunchy protein sources?!

Air popped - popcorn! (Not including those terrible microwave bags with loads of lard and rubbish in them).. just buy a bag of plain kernels in the dried fruit and nut section of the supermarket and pop them dry or with the thinnest of sliver of butter in a saucepan & add salt to taste after cooking. Salty, crunchy and 35g popped (a decent sized bowl) is 135cal/4.5g protein/5.1g fibre (which if you’re into Tim Spector’s/Zoe work you’ll know most people need much more of).

Roasted chickpeas (over 20 g of protein per 100g); or edamame beans/soybeans (38 g of protein per 100g). The Kallo veggie cakes (they have salt and vinegar flavor too) also packs a punch.

Re protein snacks I’ve discovered I absolutely love cottage cheese! Full fat cottage cheese in a bowl. With a spoon.
If I need a mini meal on struggling days that at 4pm with an apple is perfect. 11g of protein for 100g of cheese.

I am aslo absolutely loving cottage cheese.
I love it with scrambled egg on top and topped with a nutry seed mix thing from m&s. I also have it on top of ryvita

MounjaroMunchie · 07/09/2024 08:27

@GoodLuckBabe Roasted edamame is my go-to crunchy/salty snack. A 25g portion is 83 calories and 11.3g protein.

@VioletsHeart Me too, but only Longley Farm will do, no other cottage cheese compares. Have you tried it with a dash of hot sauce on top, or a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning? I like really ripe chopped peaches with cottage cheese, too.

A whole 0.4lb off for me this week, so I've not even managed to lose last week's gain. I won't lie, I feel pretty flat this morning after seeing the scales.

Years ago, my exes mum used to get aldis full fat cottage cheese and the cottage cheese was like little round pebbles and I loved it, all other cottage cheese was just cheese curd lumps of different textures and consistencies.

I bought some a few months ago and I was so disappointed, why isn't it small round cheesy pebbles any more 😭 am I really asking too much that someone makes each cheese curd ROUND?! Probably.

Morning! I upped my dose to 6.25mg this week. Suppression is better but I was up at 1am with the 💩’s - I ate a plain cheeseburger last night so that’s another food item off the list 🙄

2lb off this week though 🙂

SW 14.12
CW 12.2.3/4
Mini target 11.12

Mini target will take me to 3 stone off. Next target after that will be 11.7 to put me into healthy BMI. When I get there, I’ll start tapering down. I don’t want to need to go up to 7.5 so I’ll stick with 6.25.

🤣 I don't think I've tried aldis, I've been getting m&s from ocado 👀 but they're out of it this week

KrankyKumquat · 07/09/2024 09:13

@Jimmyneutronsforehead
Yes! I bought some Aldi cottage cheese, the first I'd had in probably 30yrs, and it was nothing like I remember. It reminded me of unsweetened rice pudding, just bland wet gloop, when i was expecting something sharp and substantially chewy. Very odd.

NowImNotDoingIt · 07/09/2024 09:14

Place marking. Started first dose last night, no idea how this is going to go and quite nervous about side effects or it not working.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 07/09/2024 09:14

Also I'm down to 101.85kg, new low for me!!!!

This was my first week on 7.5mg and other than the wobble on the increase which I'm still undecided as to whether it was a pre school term tummy bug or side effects from the increase I have felt fine. I wouldn't say the appetite suppression has been too strong, and I've definitely felt hungry at times and not hidden away from it.

Technically it's jab day tomorrow because I keep always taking it a day late so ended up doing it in the small hours of Sunday last week, but I think I might be a devil and take it today because if I did have side effects last week and I get them again this week I'd like them to be over the weekend.

I can't see me eating much today anyway as my elderly dog has got maggots 🤮, which was disgusting to find in this mornings brushing. So now I'm going to don my thickest marigold gloves and mask and shave him down and hope they've not got to his skin, the poor bugger. It's times like this I wish he was a chihuahua and not an absolute beast of an alaskan malamute with so much hair. Then afterwards I've got to find some PJs I can chop a tail and tail hole in cos the poor sod will be frozen.

AutumnComing2 · 07/09/2024 09:26

Oh @Jimmyneutronsforehead poor dog doesn’t sound much fun for you or them. Hope the maggots aren’t infested. My DDog has jippy tum again today so is grumpy sitting next to me as we will have to restrict her eating again. She still hasn’t learnt to not hoover up everything (half Lab), even at aged 4.5..

NewLifter · 07/09/2024 09:28

So I posted last week to say that I had taken my 5th dose of 3.75mg and suppression wasn't as good as usual. I wasn't sure if I was finally ready to move up or if the efficacy was fading due to my pen being unrefrigerated due to a holiday.

Well I took 3.75mg from a brand new pen on Thursday and oh my word the suppression is strong 🙈 very strong. No side effects - I was getting diarrhea 48 hours post jab which hasn't happened - though would have been welcomed on this occasion due to being properly bunged up 😂

I haven't weighed in for two weeks as had my period bloat then this constipation, so no point weighing in.

I listened to the Oushk live on FB last night and their maintenance plans are now live. I'm still planning to switch over to them soon.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend ❤️

AutumnComing2 · 07/09/2024 09:33

@NewLifter you sound like me very sensitive to even the low dose. Did you change your inject site. In my leg it wasn’t very effective so went back to my stomach and only moved from 3mg to 3.3mg and hugely noticeable difference! No appetite and loose tum.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 07/09/2024 09:35

I'm a bit worried it might have gotten to his skin, and then we'll have to get an emergency vet appointment.

We were away last week and he had D&V, and our dog sitter did the best he could, but we were already travelling back so we said just bath the dog, make him comfortable and we'll clean the rest up.

Because he's old he doesn't walk round much he just sits down so he's got some matting on his back legs from compacting it on the ground. It's a daily task to unmatt his legs and he can usually go a week every so often but I suspect he might have got some fecal matter stuck and left in the matting or not dried off properly after washing by our dog sitter and it's attracted flies. It's nobodies fault really, it's hard to care for an elderly dog especially one you're not used to, but a friend who is a vet nurse said shave him down, remove anything I can see that he'll let me, and saline solution everything until I can get a vet to see him.

He's also had a fatty lump for a while but upon feeling his body this morning it seems to have grown round his chest so he's probably going to get a full buzz cut so the vet can see it all properly. Fingers crossed it's just more fat, he is an indulgent old man.

Nothing to suppress your appetite though quite like this. Easy weightloss. 🤢

This is still a pound and a half a week on average though - I know some people are seeing really big losses, but I certainly can't manage a pound and a half a week without help. This is the average loss in the trials I think - 1-2lb a week, and plenty of us have found our weights fluctuate quite a lot. I weigh most days and my weight can fluctuate by up to about 4lb depending on the day, though mainly by about 2lb.

Actually yes, I had always done my thigh, but did my stomach this week as there's still bruises on my thighs. Maybe that's helped then, I forgot I changed site.

I wonder why we are so sensitive to it, I would love to understand the reason.

MabelSpan · 07/09/2024 10:00

@Jimmyneutronsforehead Sending cuddles to your furry boy. Hope he gets sorted and feels better soon, poor old thing 🤗

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 07/09/2024 10:23

Morning everyone. Thanks for the support yesterday. I feel much better after a good night's sleep. Onwards and upwards (and downwards with the weight!).

Sorry to hear about your dog @Jimmyneutronsforehead. Hope he gets better soon, sounds very uncomfortable for him.

Loving the snack talk. I too love a babybel and am glad they are full of protein. When I first started MJ someone on here mentioned cottage cheese and I ate a bowl of it for lunch every day for ages and overdid it. I might have to try again, I really want to try the Longley Farm I keep hearing about. This week I've been eating some chili cooked salmon I got from coop with salad and mushrooms and a bit of halloumi for lunch.

Positive of the day is that I had some takeaway curry last night but have woken up half a pound down. I didn't eat all that much of it and my stomach isn't very happy but normally I would wake up a couple of pounds heavier after a takeaway.
