Started last Tuesday.
SW:83kg
CW:81.2 kg
TW:69 kg

That’s a loss of about 4lbs, hardly massive but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, as they say.

I’ve felt motivated to cook better food and eat smaller portions and have gone cold turkey on wine and cheese. Have completely stopped snacking though I have felt it a bit of an effort to do so. Have upped my walking a little bit.

Had had no side effects until yesterday I made spaghetti and meatballs for the whole family, ate a small portion myself and about an hour later had stomach cramps, sweats and diarrhoea. It passed fairly quickly. Have a bit of reflux today but I am prone to that anyway.

Well done on taking the plunge. I think it depends on your goals and how much you have to lose however setting goals is a good start if you haven't already. Some of us got really tired on day 2 and I've found a couple of days after each injection I feel more lethargic. So maybe keep that in mind around any plans. Protein and plenty of water also seems to be working for people but everyone is different. I am on 3rd injection so far 6LBS down and all snacking and sugar cravings have gone that's on 2.5mg which I'm hoping to stay on for another 4 weeks as it seems to be keeping me ticking over nicely. Best of luck!

Well I had lost 3.5kg as of Sunday, but my system is still blocked up a bit so today MJJab3 day I’m 3.2 kg total.

hoping the extra water in sloshing down myself will help in time, at least I’m not getting headaches!

health coach suggested prune juice or pear juice. Both have laxative properties. I do have prunes and figs at home too, so may have a go at them later.

I got a PDF sent to me which is helpful.

what’s the thing about electrolytes?

jab 3 this morning bit tired now, body is definitely more used to the MJ than before tho, day after jab is the day I most worry about tho, last week was fine in the end tho.

Back from my camping trip!

I had x1 episode of diarrhoea, it was just a total one off without cramps or anything but was disconcerting as it came on very rapidly and I had a rather hairy walk to the porta loo!
I had a sausage and slice of bacon for breakfast so I'm wondering if it was the fat. I had diarrhoea on Monday also and I'd had x3 pork ribs Sunday which are fatty too.

I was due injection no 3 today but didn't get back til later so will lol at tomorrow instead. I must admit the diarrhoea is making me question whether I can cope with the side effects.

Had a very boozy day on Saturday and felt rotten on Sunday because of it! Have otherwise stuck to protein bar & coffee or egg on toast for breakfast, chicken or salmon salad for lunch & then an M&S count on us for dinner, I know I need to get back into the habit of healthy cooking but this makes it easy to stay around 1000 calories. I felt a bit bloated today but that might still be the after effects of the wine, which was self inflicted! Otherwise no side effects. Will do jab 3 tomorrow evening as I’m away Weds-Sun and don’t want to take it with me.

Congrats to all losers, it’s really encouraging me to stick with it. I do feel like I can actually do it this time - usually by week 3 if a diet I am despondent & starving!

@ToriMJ sorry to hear you had nasty side effects but hope you enjoyed the camping!

Only lost a couple of ounces last few days. It's been a very social
Few days tho so that hasn't helped. I've made good choices tho. Definitely eaten less than I would

I have to remember that I don't feel hungry and I can up my dose if needed. Still on 2.5mgs. Week Inj 3

Anyone else stalled.

I haven't lost much the past week but happy that I'm not thinking about food all the time!
I'm concentrating this week on eating protein, veg and drinking water at the right times. I feel I may have just winged it last week!

Anyone else struggling to eat enough protein?? I don't fancy any of it and feel my body is just craving carbs for energy as not eating enough food.

I've got protein powder, but frankly I'm sick of it lol. I'm whey intolerant so can only have the vegan ones... as you can imagine they taste like soil 😂

I know it's best to focus on lean meats, but the thought of it makes me feel yuk... took me half and hr to try and chew through half a chicken breast the other night before giving up

Also, I'm sure food just doesn't taste the same??

Same. I'm only on week 2 of 2.5mg so think I'll be staying on this dose which is fine by me as it's cheaper lol! My goal each day is 1200cals, but I'm forcing about 1000 in each day.

It's weird as there is literally nothing I crave (especially meat and eggs etc 🤮)! Don't get me wrong, I could probably still eat a chocolate bar but I'm consciously making a decision not to as I'm worried about what it will do to my stomach. I'd rather have nothing than the wrong thing

Hi Tori, I was like this on Wegovy, and in hindsight I think I was making side effects worse. I wasn’t eating enough, so was feeling tired, so was craving carbs (biscuits and salty crisps a lot of the time!), so was feeling sick, then more tired, etc, etc - a vicious circle. The thought of proper healthy food was turning my stomach in the end which is why I gave up. I think having a healthy diet is important rather than just a low calorie one to avoid the awful side effects.

So, from lessons learned, my plan now I’m on mounjaro is to

  • drink enough water (feels hard even though I’m usually a 2 litres a day person at least).
  • keep protein up by eating protein yogurts which have a great ratio of protein to calories.
  • eat little and often.
  • Make sure I have at least 1200 calories a day so I’m not exhausted. Not eating enough for weeks on end is seriously not good! If I feel too full to eat more I’m going to eat peanut butter which is very high calorie for a small volume.

This is obviously an amateur take on the whole thing, and everyone is different. I’m only a week and a half in this time but, so far, I have no side effects. I have everything crossed I do better and feel better this time.

Yes I've stalled, not lost anything this week, in fact I gained a pound and a half overnight for no reason and haven't lost it all again yet. Also on week 3. I don't feel like MJ is doing anything now, so I'm just hanging on for 5mg in a week or two. I don't feel much suppression and had no side effects at all after the third dose. My body is used to 2.5mg now I guess.

My suppression is really strong so it blows my mind that others are going out for meals and eating lots as I'm just eating like a squirrel and generally eating bits of protein etc to try to get it in over the day. It shows how differently we are affected by the doses doesn't it.
I've been wobbling today about whether to go for injection number three as I'm a bit fearful of the upset tummy and coping with it at work but I think I will as I think the fatty meat (had bacon and sausage albeit a very small amount) was to blame so would be a shame to Jack it in if actually I just need to avoid fat.

@DamnItBetsy yes I think these are all good aims.
I don't feel bad on the 800 cals, it feels enough and none of it is junk so probably nutritionally not worse than before if I'd have had a few hundred calories in crisps and crap.
I figure 800 isn't disasterous as Michael Mosleys fast 800 was a pretty good plan with decent health benefit as long as it's 800 spent well.

I've got some protein shakes from Asda which have 25g of protein in which are an easy way to get some protein in and have the same sugar and calories as semi skimmed milk.

@ToriMJ that’s an amazing loss!

I also think 800 calls a day is fine as long as you are getting lots of vitamins etc as part of that. With a high BMI you can do a VCLD of 800 a day for 6 weeks without a break (if you can face it!) so surely 800 of real food is ok?

That's what I'm thinking. Obvs I'm going to eat more if I want it/need it. But I'm not going to force myself to eat 1200 calories or something as that feels counterintuitive. My resting calorie burn is low as I'm a shortie so I need a decent deficit if I'm to have big losses, and tbh I'd like to lose quick and be in mj as little time as possible. With 800/day on fast 800 or vlcd diets like Cambridge most people lose a stone a month. I'd very much like to do this and be off the meds by the end of the year.

End of week 2 here...no further loss.

Appetite suppression has been great, I'm probably averaging 1000 calories a day and even then I'm reminding myself to eat. I'm a bit fed up to be honest.

I know I'm not supposed to but i think I'm going to go to 5mg (doses 3 & 4 together) to see how that goes. I want to try 5mg, but don't really want to pay out for the 5mg pen if MJ just doesn't work for me.
