It's in the fridge and I'm going to take the plunge on Monday!
Feeling really nervous about it all. Anyone due to start next week too?

@ACEwards yes I was doing all of that but I think it's a good thing to think about the long term. I want my weight change to last so I need to consider how I make that happen. So far I've realised
I eat when bored, sad and stressed.

I binge eat when I think I have the opportunity (a sort of shameful stuff myself because no ones looking)

I'm often hungry and feel ill when not on MJ
Diets have been really really hard work with little gain and then it all goes back on.

Until my 30s I was slim, ate what I liked...no issues. Something switched in my metabolism when I had children. No matter how I dieted I did not lose. The more depressed I felt about my weight the more I fantasised about indulging.

So how do I fix that long term? What has MJ done to me in the 6 days since I took it?

I've consciously drunk loads of water.
I've consciously shopped with protein in mind and hopeful. This is new. My conviction based on fact that there's no point analysing every morsel because I can't lose weight anyway undid this previously
I've felt well. I have eaten 3 healthy meals a day (yoghurt flax seeds, fruit) (hummus and vegetables) (salad and a protein item or pasta and a protein item)

I've lost 8 lbs since Monday. For me it's a bliddy miracle and I could cry. It's life changing. Healthy eating and lose weight vs starvation and stay fat.

@madamemassivesalad I think you can take a week off

QueenEthelTheMagnificent · 20/07/2024 08:06

First night on MJ - burps aren't great and already constipated!!!

gimmemounjaro · 20/07/2024 08:32

Weigh day for me at the end of week 1 and I have lost 5 lbs which is amazing, probably 10x what I might have lost in a week previously. I haven't been counting calories, haven't eaten particularly well or badly, I have stayed off the sugary crap but have snacked and eaten when not hungry. Amazing.

I'm about to go away for a few days with family members who are big eaters and drinkers (all overweight) so this will be a test of MJ and me. It's an annual thing and has been the trigger for weeks if not months of bingeing in previous years.

dogdaydisaster · 20/07/2024 08:47

Week 1 completed with a 2.2kg loss. Happy with that!

SallySunrise · 20/07/2024 08:48

Day 4 for me here.

Still struggling with digestive issues. I was supposed to be taking the eldest to a party but I've had to ask his dad to do it. Too risky 😬

On the bright side, food noise has completely gone. I honestly think I could just drink water all day and not notice. So weird for me! I'm making myself eat of course, and I can eat it easily. It's just the voice telling me I'm hungry that's gone.

Jab 2 is due Wed, i guess I'll see how much I've lost by then. It'll need to be a lot to make this worth it.

I only did my first dose Thursday evening and I'm already freaking about when I start to come off the drug and gaining weight 🫣🤯 I think if you could overthink your self to death that would be me 😂😂😂

Me too. Every 'symptom' I've had has been 100% in my head, I'm my own worst enemy !

Could you take this then stop for a holiday and go back on again afterwards? 🤔

Yes I think you can, as long as it's not more than 3 week gap

Burping was my main symptoms but it's setting over the first few days. Peppermint tea in a flask was really helpful to just sip over time.

Oh no, sorry to hear you're still not feeling great.
Some people are just more sensitive to it I think. Other than eating really 'clean', lots of protein and lots of water I think the rest is luck. I've been having an electrolyte tablet a day in my water bottle but who knows if that's useful or not, someone recommended it so I thought why not it's an easy win if it helps.

First, incredibly done you for that weight loss!

And THANK YOU you so much for posting this - reassured to know I am not alone, this sounds just like me! Very underweight in my 20s, regular size 10-12 in 30s and then hit 40 and have steadily gained weight despite frequent diets. I lose a bit (up to 10kg even!) but then slip back and can’t seem to keep it up. I eat because I am tired, bored, happy, sad… you name it. Wine is also an issue, I had cut drinking back to twice per week but I know it is empty calories. I feel like MJ might give me the kick for the lifestyle change I need as I recognise my psychology needs to change.

I'm having a protein shake because it's easy wins

im a swimmer, we train late on a couple of nights a week. I usually have a protein shake bulked up with a few chunks of frozen banana and mango whizzed up as a smoothie

did this the other night and SUFFERED! Lots of gas and burps, indigestion etc.

so think I’ll just have to knock it on the head. I’ll have to have the protein shake a few hours before training if I’m low on protein

MzHz · 20/07/2024 12:41

Question about calories tracking - are we tracking active calories (eaten calories with exercise calories deducted) I’m supposed to be on 1700 a day, but I’ve set HitMeal (app I’m using to track food etc) to 1500 cos it seems too high.

I’ve lost 2kg this week. Although I was 4kg heavier the week before I started the treatment on Monday this week. Apart from the blip on Tuesday , I’ve felt amazing

im with Juniper and the chat from the health care support person has been incredible.

SallySunrise · 20/07/2024 13:46

@ToriMJ the electrolyte thing is a good tip, I'll probably pick some up.

Stomach seems to be settling down now I've got some meds, though I've also got a bit of an appetite now.

ToriMJ · 20/07/2024 14:03

@MzHz possibly just too much too late, maybe half of it would be doable.

Hmm not sure.
I'm not terribly active so I'm just doing the calories.

My appetite has fluctuated. Its been so much easier to ignore feeling hungry and other times I've just not felt hungry. I'm not tracking calories. I'm avoiding fat and sugar and meals are not large so I don't think I want to reduce anymore

SJLO · 20/07/2024 15:28

I feel heavy today. It don't help that bowel movements are limited! I wouldn't say I'm constipated but there's not much happening. Day 6 had my cereal going out for the day so hopefully keep busy could defo eat a lot more and planning on taking next jag tonight a day early! Have a great Saturday everyone. Also think I'll change my name on here to something more dynamic 😆

I've seen a few others talk about taking the next jab a day or so early. I wasn't aware that was possible, but good to know if it is! X

SJLO · 20/07/2024 15:37

I will do it later and let uz know how it goes. Feel hungry today so I think it's for the best before I sabotage!

QueenEthelTheMagnificent · 20/07/2024 17:55

This stuff seems to be magic! I'm a binge eater - I have nothing until I finally get time for lunch sometimes not till 2pm, and then I constantly graze on crisps, breadsticks, crackers and chocolate and then have a massive dinner. Today I've had a cup a soup and a sandwich thin with chicken & lettuce. Not interested in snacking and didn't even fancy my late afternoon cup of tea! Doing a small bbq for dinner so will stick to the proteins.

ToriMJ · 20/07/2024 18:30

It's with graft isn't it.
I've just realised I've had x 1 coffee since Monday, I normally have at least 7 (decaf) a day! It just hasn't crossed my mind til now! How odd!

Just starting week 2 and I think the food noise is starting to quieten, I actually forgot to have lunch today which has never ever happened before. And I don't eat breakfast, so went through to 3.30pm without eating anything at all and didn't even notice 😮

I am having a few windy and crampy moments since injecting yesterday, hope they disappear overnight.

I noticed today my lack of caffine cravings! I thought it was just because I've felt so ill, but I'm loads better since this morning and still don't fancy it.

I'd be really pleased if i could break my coffee habit.

I'm really not hungry but going to make myself eat the steak in the fridge with some salad. I need the protein.

gimmemounjaro · 20/07/2024 19:20

Glad to hear you are feeling better at last @SallySunrise 👍
