It's in the fridge and I'm going to take the plunge on Monday!
Feeling really nervous about it all. Anyone due to start next week too?

Start weight 14st
I'm 5ft 3 so bmi about 35/36
I'd like to aim for 12st initially as I know I'll feel much better at that weight.
But really for a normal bmi I need to be sub 10st.

@ToriMJ going by what I'm reading 2stone is so achievable on this! Prob at 10st you would look or feel not yourself a lot of the normal BMI isn't ideal for everyone as we all different sizes and shapes. Just weighed and I'm roughly 3lbs down. I never weighed directly before starting as I had gorged for weeks so I'm going by my last weigh. Just glad it's down at all! 😮‍💨

ToriMJ · 19/07/2024 10:25

3lb is a great loss.

I've always say around 12st. I went keto and lost 3 stone when I was 21 and was 9st 3 and felt good. But I gradually put it back on and settled back around 12. Post kids I loitered around 12 1/2st with on off diets but post covid I've hit 14st and I feel really crappy at this weight.
Will see how it goes. Ive too many failed diets under my belt to even have any expectations at this point, I daren't!

Oh no. What have you eaten in the day?
I've been avoiding all junk food/processed food and anything high fat as I think that triggers side effects for some. Maybe just go really basic today, chicken/salad/rice etc and see if it settles.
I feel for you though, that's been my big worry x

I had a small fry up for lunch yesterday. Fine at the time but I think it was too greasy to tolerate. Hopefully that's all it was.

I've had some toast today so far, probably chicken salad for lunch.

Feeling pretty sweaty and weak today. I hope this shifts.

ToriMJ · 19/07/2024 11:18

@SallySunrise I bet it's that. Many don't seem to be able to tolerate anything greasy/higher fat.
Hope you feel better soon, keep hydrating, maybe some peppermint tea? Seems to help with all things digestive for me.
My go to has been sushi, just the supermarket meal deal packets, carrot sticks and hummous for lunch, breakfasts have been crackers and light Philadelphia with smoked salmon and chia seeds (from Lidl- for a bit of fibre)

?!? You've not lost 17 lbs in 6 days have you? Shock

Yep. But I think bloated water weight accounts for a lot of that.

ToriMJ · 19/07/2024 11:32

Holy smokes!! You must really be feeling the difference already!

How is everyone doing on the bowels front?
I did lots of nervous pooing on Monday morning but not had one since!
Have been sprinkling chia seeds but wondering if I need to take more 'encouraging' action Confused

You need more than a sprinkle- make up some porridge with it. It really helps - 2x tablespoons and 150ml milk, either leave overnight or heat milk up, stirring it in and then add a few frozen fruits to cool it down.

even before mounjaro I did this and it keeps you regular brilliantly

after MJ injection it’s really affecting it, so I’m drinking minimum 2L a day now and that seems to be helping.

I’ve got back up figs/prunes/and even senna cot in case, I hate being bunged up, so uncomfortable

ToriMJ · 19/07/2024 12:46

That's interesting, google told me to use small amounts and def no more than a tablespoon a day Confused

@ToriMJ you're doing so well. I'm exactly the same height and starting weight as you and also think 12stone initially is a great goal for me...I've always felt good at that weight.

BMI calculator said I need to be 10stone to be normal BMI which I don't think I have weighed since I was at uni over 20 years ago 🤣🤦‍♀️

Same!
I'm just going to do a week at a time and see how it goes, try not to pin all my hopes to it, just go with the flow. My first week has been much better than I had hoped for so I'm taking that as a win.
I will have to do photos again to order my next pen as I kept the first one in fridge ages while I tried to get brave so I've had such a big gap I'm in new customer territory again.
Those god awful photos are a good motivator Grin

@hebeaverandshebeaver 😆💩 one way to lose....

@sallysunrise I agree with Tori about adapting what you eat. I am avoiding sugar and fatty food. So far no side effects. I also think a fasting diet isn't your friend. You need regular small meals to keep blood sugar up.

Wishthiswasntmypost · 19/07/2024 14:03

I'd love to say my clothes felt loose but they don't feel as tight is the best I can offer 😆 For years I've been in a cycle of my clothes fit....tight...tighter...diet... no joy...tighter...buy bigger size. Repeat. Please god let this change

JustMoved123 · 19/07/2024 15:55

@ToriMJ I’m similar height and weight to you, I’m pretty daunted by how much I need to lose for a healthy bmi but I did feel good (briefly) at just over 11st so that’s where I’m aiming.
Mounjaro arrived today and now I’m worried about when to start! I’m cooking dinner for 8 people next Saturday, should I just risk it tomorrow and see how I feel? How did you all get over the dithering 😂

ToriMJ · 19/07/2024 16:07

It took me a very long time to get over the dithering. It was in my fridge for weeks.
Eventually I just thought what is my alternative? Stay fat and progressively uncomfortable and unhealthy? Diet again- but these have never worked before so what do I think will be different.

You have to give yourself time to land at a decision you feel comfortable with I think.

I also think that waiting for the perfect time is a fools game because there will always be something coming up. If you're coming that's better as you have control over it.
Just serve a normal portion and leave what you don't want. If anyone questions what's left on your plate say "I've been picking at it all day, I'm a greedy chef!"

@ToriMJ thank you! I think I’m worried about feeling unwell but perhaps overthinking it. I also haven’t told anyone, even my husband…. Is this bad?

SilenceInside · 19/07/2024 16:38

I haven't told anyone apart from my partner, but I wanted him to know just in case of severe side effects, he would be able to make sure I got appropriate treatment. He was unsure to begin with but now that I've not had any real side effects for 2 weeks or so, I think he's stopped being concerned about it.

I haven’t told anyone either as I don’t want the scrutiny! Especially from skinny-minis who say the same whenever I lose weight “ooh, be careful you don’t want to overdo it”… honestly, I feel being overweight you can’t win. Strangers frown at you when they see you eating ice cream, and friends lie by saying “no, you don’t need to diet”. Not allowed to mention it in front of the teenagers in case you give them an unhealthy body image etc. I think it’s easier to say nothing!

OMG this is actually me lol!!

When I had a mental breakdown to my husband about my weight before deciding to do this, I said that all I wanted to was to wear my old clothes and not have everything cut off my circulation! Yes, loosing lbs would be great, but just to fit comfortably in clothes again would just feel so amazing 🤩

Doesn't help that I swear I'm in the spectrum, so any tight fitting clothes make me freak out 😂

JustMoved123 · 19/07/2024 16:52

I think the fact nobody has said I don’t need to lose weight for a few years and keep mentioning healthy food has been very telling, I’m glad I don’t know what they are saying behind my back…hopefully they will see a new me in my old clothes by Christmas!

July24MJ · 19/07/2024 17:00

Hello ... I started last Thursday (9th) so just over a week in, took my second dose last night. I'm glad someone mentioned the heart rate earlier - that & a wee bit dizzy seems to be how I'm feeling today, but then again is that just adjusting to have less food (or certainly less sugary food)!
I'm taking this slowly - I've got 5+ stone to lose and I don't want any old habits coming back in. I'm peri-menopausal so its not going to get easier!

I'm getting mine from a local pharmacy on a private prescription, I noticed there's a few locally doing that now. So £140 initially - which is a wee bit higher than I've seen online but I get weekly texts from the pharmacist (who has lost 3 stone herself using it) and an in-person check-up monthly when I collect next dose.

I get this completely - it's what people don't say I feel make most impact like lack of complimenting etc I keep reading about hair loss with MJ which I am really worried about think it's when using 5 and above...

Yes I noticed my local chemist were doing it I was just a bit apprehensive about asking for it so good for you that sounds like it could be really supportive and helpful. We are all here for the long haul to motivate each other. I'm due to take 2nd jag Sunday feeling like first one is defo wearing off!
