Please note: Mounjaro will only be be prescribed initially if your BMI is above 30 until you get to a healthy BMI of 23 to BMI 25

Pointers for newbies:

1 - For taking your first dose you need to twist the pen a lot to get to 1! The instructions say prime each time you take a dose, but actually Eli Lilly have confirmed you only need to prime for the first ever use of a pen. (The video posted says every use, but this isn't true!)

2 - When injecting, hold down the button until the number goes back to 0. Once at 0, keep holding down the button and count to 5 with the needle still in so no medication is lost!

3 - Your first dose may not have an immediate effect. For some people the effects build slowly. It could take 3 or 4 days to notice anything, it could take a few weeks. Some people don't feel the meds working until they get to 5mg. See titration chart which shows how the medication builds up in your system. Also below you can plot the effect of your doses.
glp1plotter.com/

4 - 2.5mg isn't a therapeutic dose, meaning you aren’t meant to lose on 2.5mg. You need to start on 2.5mg to get your body used to the drug and gradually introduce it into your system and get used to any side effects.

5 - Not everyone loses a lot in the first few weeks. Don't feel discouraged if you don't lose a lot initially. Again, you might need a higher dose to start losing. Also, inches can be lost without anything showing on the scales. Start your journey by taking measurements and check them as you go along.

6 - If you do lose a lot in the first few weeks, please don't assume you will continue losing at this rate. The first few weeks it is usually water weight that is lost, after that a good weight loss is about 2lbs a week. Some weeks you might not lose anything, but this is ok too…again, taking measurements might show inches lost instead.

7 - Constipation, coldness, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, headaches, aches, are side effects. There may be other side effects also. Read info here :

www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/15481/pil#about-medicine

8 - Once you take your first dose you can choose to keep your pen in the fridge or somewhere else. It's up to you.

9 - Don't reuse any needles as this could risk infection. If you damage a needle or one isn't working, you can buy a pack of about 100 spares. https://www.chemist-4-u.com/carepoint-pen-needles-31g-4mm-pack-of-100?gclid=Cj0KCQjwiYOxBhC5ARIsAIvdH51rLZBVFQxuvS7mDJooegtK8BMiyT0PwREMRHhH_1atfQIo8TEbsmkaAkA0EALw_wcB

Also there is a 5th dose in each pen. To extract it you can either try a hard twist or use an insulin needle.
https://medbasic.co.uk/bd-micro-fine-30g-1ml-syringes-needles

10 - Protein is important as eating less protein can cause muscle wastage and hair loss. Try to have at least 100g a day.

Some natural sources of protein:
https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/best-sources-protein

https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321522#high-protein-foods

11 - You can use supplements, some that people use are magnesium(for sleep and constipation), protein(to reduce muscle wastage), collagen (skin elasticity), aloe vera(for constipation), psylum husks(fibre for constipation), electrolytes.

12 - Drink lots of water. Water helps with the weight loss. Drink at least 2ltrs a day. Preferably 3ltrs.

13 - Don't be afraid to feel hungry. It is entirely normal and healthy to feel hungry. Just eat something. Treat it as an opportunity to start good habits around hunger. Eat a nice balanced snack or a meal if it's a meal time. It's ok.

14 - Does it makes any difference where you inject? yes it does! Drugs get absorbed at different rates depending on injection site

In order of fastest absorption, it goes:
• Tummy
• Arms
• Thighs
furthet reading about injection sites and the effects: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/316618

15 - Abdominal side-effects are much easier to control with smaller meals. For example, having 4 small meals in the day vs 2 big meals can have an improvement in nausea and burps.

16 - You can track your calories / protein on apps such as My fitnessPal, Carb Manager or Nutracheck. Nutracheck is quite useful and easy to find foods /build recipes.

@CiderJabs what a bloody idiot! It's these people that could spoil it for the rest of us when there is an outcry.

I found it. Looks like the OP hasn't come back.

She's lucky she didn't end up in hospital etc!

I also am shocked that people do this!

I struggle going on the Facebook groups now (not ours). When I do pop on there is either drama or people asking the same questions over and over again!

I should go on ours more but it's pretty quiet! I guess most prefer coming on here!

@ObsidianTree I think I'll have to leave that group. I've never posted or commented and reading this kind of crap stresses me out!

Yeah. I should do the same really. I don't find it useful. Just stressful!

@ObsidianTree I've just left it. No point winding myself up with people's stupidity.

I know I'm prob over sensitive with this kind of stuff but having gone through serious health issues, it baffles me when people take their health for granted.

Yes. And way too many people on there doing crazy things. Your right, it's time to leave!

Just seen the post from the person that took 4 doses in one go from the 2.5mg pen by mistake! I had to ask her some questions before I left 🤣

Does anyone see a bit of liquid on your skin near the injection site? Worry it’s not gone in properly

I still dont understand how! She said the pen kept jamming.... But surely you wouldn't keep winding all the way back to 1 starting again!

She also said she didn't have bad side effects... So I think she hasn't taken 4 doses... I've asked her for a pic of the pen!

That's happened to me both times and still seems to be working (I can tell my digestion has slowed down, having less cravings and some appetite suppression) ...I do sometimes worry if it's placebo effect though 😂

I also realised I have injected in thigh both times (opposite ones each time) while sitting down and wounded if it would make any difference standing so leg is flexed differently 🤷🏻‍♀️

Did you hold the button down for 5 ish extra seconds after the dial is back to 0? It's probably fine. Just a bit that didn't go in fully.

OP posts:

Yes held the button down after it went in. It’s happened a couple of times now.

I’ve also done it sitting down into my thighs. I don’t do my stomach because I’ve got scarring from a tummy tuck so worry about absorption

Pinkbendyman · 18/06/2024 12:01

@MJqueen
I’ve just double checked and Zava state (at the bottom of the email screenshot) that there is no expiry on their discount codes. Even better!!

Can anybody remember the name of the new generation GLp1 med that's in development that may be even better than MJ?

I think there were some posts about it a few threads ago .

Hi all,
would appreciate some input on this. I started the move up from 2.5 to 5 a few weeks ago by titrating to 3.75. Took a dose on 6June, had good appetite suppression for 4 days, fading the last three. Took another 3.75 on 13 June and almost no suppression, had to go on willpower, and my appetite felt normal. Today, 5 days later I am feeling a bit of suppression. V odd! I think it may be a loading effect, e.g. retained levels may have dropped a bit so a delay before levels in my system back up to the point suppression kicks in? Who knows! Needless to say I have stalled. Will do a full 5mg dose, possibly a day early. After an initial good response to MJ, my body is now definitely needing more to get suppression..

LittleTed54 · 18/06/2024 12:40

Hi everyone. Have been watching this thread for a while - so much great info thank you.
Week 5 and 1st 5mg this week with no side effects (yet!) and lost 13lb so very pleased with the results so far.

Weemaccyd · 18/06/2024 12:41

Has anyone had issues with Zava being unwilling to prescribe if your BMI is under 30 as a new customer.

I placed and order yesterday, sent my photographs this morning.

I’ve had a message back from the doctor saying I am not eligible. My BMI is 28.1, I ordered 10mg. I’ve been with different suppliers like many as I’ve followed the deals.

Wondering if there’s any point challenging or if I should just go back to another supplier.

sweetpickle2 · 18/06/2024 13:13

Did my bonus dose from the 5mg pen and it was definitely more than a normal dose but thought- yolo, it can get me ready for 7.5 😂

But since taking it this morning I feel like I've been hit by a bus! So lethargic, can't concentrate, a real fuzzy feeling in my head. So weird.

DragonflyRuby · 18/06/2024 13:15

Well my week 5 weigh in yesterday and first on 5mg was pretty disappointing I’m +2lb from last week but it was the start of my period. I’m back to the same weight today as last weigh in so hopefully it’s just a bit of hormonal bloat. I haven’t had any side effects so far from the increase to 5mg and I did my second jab on Sunday. Happily the constipation I suffered with on 2.5mg seems to have gone! I feel like the food noise is there more than it was in the first couple of weeks but the appetite suppression is still pretty strong so that’s good.

Going to drink as much water as possible this week and hope it doesn’t turn into a plateau.
