Please note: Mounjaro will only be be prescribed initially if your BMI is above 30 until you get to a healthy BMI of 23 to BMI 25

Pointers for newbies:

1 - For taking your first dose you need to twist the pen a lot to get to 1! The instructions say prime each time you take a dose, but actually Eli Lilly have confirmed you only need to prime for the first ever use of a pen. (The video posted says every use, but this isn't true!)

2 - When injecting, hold down the button until the number goes back to 0. Once at 0, keep holding down the button and count to 5 with the needle still in so no medication is lost!

3 - Your first dose may not have an immediate effect. For some people the effects build slowly. It could take 3 or 4 days to notice anything, it could take a few weeks. Some people don't feel the meds working until they get to 5mg. See titration chart which shows how the medication builds up in your system. Also below you can plot the effect of your doses.

4 - 2.5mg isn't a therapeutic dose, meaning you aren’t meant to lose on 2.5mg. You need to start on 2.5mg to get your body used to the drug and gradually introduce it into your system and get used to any side effects.

5 - Not everyone loses a lot in the first few weeks. Don't feel discouraged if you don't lose a lot initially. Again, you might need a higher dose to start losing. Also, inches can be lost without anything showing on the scales. Start your journey by taking measurements and check them as you go along.

6 - If you do lose a lot in the first few weeks, please don't assume you will continue losing at this rate. The first few weeks it is usually water weight that is lost, after that a good weight loss is about 2lbs a week. Some weeks you might not lose anything, but this is ok too…again, taking measurements might show inches lost instead.

7 - Constipation, coldness, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, headaches, aches, are side effects. There may be other side effects also. Read info here :

8 - Once you take your first dose you can choose to keep your pen in the fridge or somewhere else. It's up to you.

9 - Don't reuse any needles as this could risk infection. Also there is a 5th dose in each pen. To extract it you can either try a hard twist or use an insulin needle.

10 - Protein is important as eating less protein can cause muscle wastage and hair loss. Try to have at least 100g a day.

11 - You can use supplements, some that people use are magnesium(for sleep and constipation), protein(to reduce muscle wastage), collagen (skin elasticity), aloe vera(for constipation), psylum husks(fibre for constipation), electrolytes.

12 - Drink lots of water. Water helps with the weight loss. Drink at least 2ltrs a day. Preferably 3ltrs.

13 - Don't be afraid to feel hungry. It is entirely normal and healthy to feel hungry. Just eat something. Treat it as an opportunity to start good habits around hunger. Eat a nice balanced snack or a meal if it's a meal time. It's ok.

14 - Does it makes any difference where you inject? yes it does! Drugs get absorbed at different rates depending on injection site

15 - Abdominal side-effects are much easier to control with smaller meals. For example, having 4 small meals in the day vs 2 big meals can have an improvement in nausea and burps.

16 - You can track your calories / protein on apps such as My fitnessPal, Carb Manager or Nutracheck. Nutracheck is quite useful and easy to find foods /build recipes.

Getting in on new thread, just because 😆

Started 10 this week and I’m bloody starving!

I was exactly the same last week when I started 10. Then day 4 my appetite was gone. It was very strange. Took my second 10mg last night and haven't eaten yet.

I'm panicking a bit. I did the consult through Zava last night and it gave Saturday as the estimated delivery. Approved today and still gives Saturday as the estimated delivery on the email. But I've just read in the small print that orders placed after 4pm on Thursday won't be dispatched until Monday, and there'll definitely be nobody here on Tuesday to sign.

It also says not to give specific instructions to Royal Mail e.g. leave with a neighbour. I'm worried I've just wasted a lot of money. Has anybody had a Saturday delivery from Zava please? Or know what will happen if I'm not here to receive it? I've just tried to call them but was cut off after 15 minutes waiting 🙄.

I took 10mg last night night and don't feel much effect yet either.

What stage is your order at when you look at it in your account? Is it dispensed yet?

Can anyone send a photo of what sort of box zava deliver in? It is essentially unmarked or does it say where it comes from?

Completely unmarked. It has the company address on it for returns but no name.

No, it isn't dispensed, just approved at the minute 😬.

It does have sticker on it saying Refrigerate upon Arrival so you couldn't pretend it was a new top.

Just checking in. End of week 11 for me and a bit of a frustrating stall for me. Was hoping for a bit of a bigger loss for the first 7.5 does this week but not to be.
But 22 pounds down in 11 weeks.
I think though I am perhaps not eating enough, eating very little in terms of calories but not perhaps the best choices so need to focus on that next week!

It’s a bulky package, mainly for the wool and ice packs. Doesn’t sounds promising sadly.

@Choux it needs to be refrigerated before it's used. So if it is above 8 degrees when I get it it needs to be discarded. It's on its way to the north west England hub. It needs to hit the Edinburgh one then Aberdeen before it gets to me which I can't see happening in the next 24 hours. I'm due to take it on Sunday. I have the "extra dose" in my pen but I've never used it and don't know if I want to try

The patient information leaflet link in the first post on this thread says:

Store in a refrigerator (2 °C – 8 °C). Do not freeze. If the pen has been frozen, DO NOT USE.
Mounjaro KwikPen can be stored unrefrigerated not above 30 ºC for up to 30 days and then the pen must be discarded.

I agree that ZAVA packaging is not as good as others as there is only one ice pack but once it gets above 8 degrees that's when the 30 day count starts so it should be fine to use for 30 days from tomorrow.

@Choux that's once it's been opened. This is the info from ZAVA taken from the patient information leaflet

So by that logic an unopened pen that gets to 9 degrees has to be thrown away. But a pen previously opened and used once but now at 29 degrees is fine to keep using for 30 days. That does not seem logical.

Let's see what ZAVA say but I think they will say the 30 days to use it starts from today / tomorrow and it will be fine to use.

Hi ladies, I am coming from the 'over 5st to lose' thread. Does please anyone know how much could have there been in the bonus dose of 2.5mg MJ pen? I messed up when counting clicks and have no clue whether I underdosed or overdosed...

@oreo2024 if you're counting clicks you can't have gone over the full dose of 0.6ml, so would have been less than 2.5mg unless you turned it all the way to 1 and pushed it all the way down.
Actual leftover dose has been roughly 0.8ml, so some get more than 2.5mg if extracting with a needle.

Just wanted to say I bought my next pen from Pharmulous stupid name and they were great. Free delivery and £10 cheaper than medexpress with sharps bin needles swabs included.
