I’m so annoyed!!!
I’ve just taken my last dose of 2.5mg and so far lost 10lbs. I’ve tried to order the 5.0mg through zava (as recommend on here!) as it was the cheapest at £144 but they turned me down as my bmi now is at 29.5 so under their threshold even though 3 weeks ago I was well over!!! I’ve replied to them explaining that and yes when I applied I did state I was already on it.
im also more annoyed that they took the money straight away from my card and now I have to wait for them to refund it if they still say no

Greentrilby · 06/06/2024 18:28

@Silvesterthecat gosh I’d be angry too. Taking the money before fulfilling the order is so annoying. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Greentrilby · 06/06/2024 21:35

So I’ve just had a total disaster. I tried to get a fifth dose from my pen and couldn’t do the ‘hard twist’ I’d read about, so I got the pliers out and used them only to break the twisty bit off. Never mind I thought, I can just use smaller pliers to reach the unbroken bit, but as I tried to turn it again, I must have pushed up as the dose squirted into the needle cover and I lost the lot. Still at least I tried.

got my new 5mg pen from the fridge and took a 4mg dose as I was worried about doubling my dose. Onwards and upwards!

determinedtomakethiswork · 06/06/2024 22:54

Can I ask everyone what their weight loss was in the first week? I'm on day five and haven't eaten much but the scales aren't shifting.

I do feel a lot better for it and really like the fact that I never think about alcohol or sweets but I had expected the scales to shift!

ClonedSquare · 07/06/2024 05:49

This has been a miracle in so many ways. I'm not hungry often, so if I'm busy then food doesn't even pop into my mind. It's often 12pm before I eat anything. I don't eat in the morning "just in case" I'll get hungry while out with my son. I'm fuller quicker and stay that way for so much longer. If I do snack in the afternoon, I'm content to eat less or no dinner to balance it.

The part I'm finding tough- it doesn't stop my boredom eating. If I'm sitting around with nothing to occupy me, eating still pops into my head as something to do. And then a craving takes hold like it used to. Mounjaro means when I do give in, it's nowhere near as bad as before (a small portion, just one portion etc) but it still happens.

I realise Mounjaro isn't meant to give you willpower at all, so I'm not complaining about the drug itself, just about me! The other effects still mean I'm losing more then I ever have before, I just need to get a grip on myself.

Upinthenightagain · 07/06/2024 07:09

@ClonedSquare i find the same. I still could definitely eat a fair bit if rubbish. I find I have to have a good think before I eat anything and rationalise out why I want to eat and if I actually am hungry. I also find that if I do have something like a biscuit or bit of chocolate it kicks off cravings they’re just not as bad as before. I’m on 5mg such is still a low dose considering I think it goes up to 15 mg

determinedtomakethiswork · 07/06/2024 07:30

I find that I still think of things I might fancy eating but if I do something else for 10 minutes then the thought just goes. Is it just a matter of not acting on it immediately?

ClonedSquare · 07/06/2024 09:44

@determinedtomakethiswork I do find it's easier to distract myself, if I can find something that needs my full attention. But I have a fair amount of free time on my hands every week at the moment so sometimes i run out of things to distract myself with.

(I'm not complaining about the free time, it's a nice problem to have! But it is hard to avoid the snacking impulses)

I twisted it by using both hands fully on each half, not just turning the end as I had for previous doses, and then twisted both ways at the same time. It's so difficult to write an explanation.

ETA - it's like wringing out a wet towel

Greentrilby · 07/06/2024 19:37

@ChangeEmailAddress ah that’s good to know. I just messed it up. I’m happy with the 4mg dose I took yesterday and have appetite suppression so I’m hoping I can get five doses out of the pen doing it the normal way. Just mindful of the cost of it all really. I’m definitely going to move away from Voy for my next pen.

Blackcat50 · 07/06/2024 20:47

I had my first 2.5mg dose this time last week and the scales are reporting a 5lb loss. Whoop! Definitely felt it wearing off yesterday as I was thinking about food more and felt hungrier. Been blessed not to see any nasty side effects. Just dry mouth.

@ClonedSquare could I ask where you got your pen from please? Have a birthday coming up so a birthday discount would be great! Thank you

Sassenach85 · 07/06/2024 21:05

Just took my double dose of 2.5

onto my 5mg pen next week

will be doing my 3rd weigh in tomo- wish me luck!

ClonedSquare · 07/06/2024 23:20

@Blackcat50 Well done on the loss! I order from Asda, i didn't know about the birthday code until it came so it was a nice surprise!

Blackcat50 · 08/06/2024 07:10

@ClonedSquare excellent - that’s who I’m with now so fingers crossed! Thanks for getting back to me

SW 115.3kg
CW 112.0kg
GW- 1st target 100kg

First week down and I've had a loss of almost half a stone, 3.3kg to be precise.

I've been weighing myself in kg as I am too ashamed to see what my weight is in stones. I can't do the conversion easily! I know that I'm morbidly obese at a BMI over 40 and this has been a real boost, as although I've been trying to eat better prior to starting on the medication, nothing was shifting.

Apart from a headache the first couple of days, the only other side effect I've had is burping, which is different from acid reflux I've suffered from. It's been noticeable to me as I am a teacher, so I've had a few times this week when I've had to stop talking as I get the burps- much to the amusement of my students!

determinedtomakethiswork · 08/06/2024 08:50

So pissed off as I have only lost .9 kg in six days. I feel a lot better and haven't eaten much all week but still!

3wDavid · 08/06/2024 09:30

Good morning!

It’s weigh in day for me and week 2 complete!

SW: 107.2 kg
CW: 101.5 kg

Week 1 total loss: 4 kg
Week 2 total loss: 1.7 kg

A long long way to go but I am pleased with my results so far and feel committed to continuing!

I’ve also ordered my next pen and opted to go for 2.5 again. I figured that if it stops working, I can just do two jabs. It will end up more expensive but not the end of the world. Just didn’t feel ready for 5 yet.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

ClonedSquare · 08/06/2024 13:17

NSV - my warm coat zips up now with plenty of room to move, rather than being skintight.

New side effect- freezing cold all the time so having to wear my warm coat zipped up more often!

FabricPattern · 09/06/2024 09:16

Hi - I used someone's code from earlier on in this thread and wondered if anyone fancied using mine. I'm just starting mountjaro through voy

https://joinvoy.com/r/U-uYeggOZ5K5

Previously used saxenda but ran out of money. Haven't got the money this time but I'm fed up. Managed to lose two stone on my own this year and now I want a little push to help

Greentrilby · 09/06/2024 20:31

Anyone else experiencing tiredness? Had to have a nap this afternoon and have no energy.

Jibberoo · 09/06/2024 20:34

Wow some amazing weight loss happening well done all! I've done jab 4 today and going ok but definitely ready to move up to 5mg
Sw 108
Cw 105.6kg
So almost 2.5kg down which isn't as much as I hoped but considering I've been dieting for months and nothing was shifting I'm taking the win.
Also I've been sick this week so haven't done any exercise - my biggest worry is that I'm loosing muscle but as soon as I can I'm hitting that gym. Anyone else worried it's muscle loss?

I just ordered another pen but overpaid as I was having problems with pharmacy2u so decided to go to boots just to be sure. Think I'll try family chemist next time. Anyone had any good/bad purchase experiences worthy of sharing?

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 09/06/2024 21:12

@Jibberoo what problems did you have with Pharmacy2u? I got my first pen from them but I'm annoyed that they are impossible to contact so I think I'm going to try somewhere else for my next one.

So pissed off as I have only lost .9 kg in six days. I feel a lot better and haven't eaten much all week but still!

It seems to vary massively from
person to person but I’m about 6lbs down after just over three weeks (four doses). It took a couple of weeks for any weight to shift.
I’ve read that the starting dose is mainly to get your body used to the medication rather than aimed at dropping much weight so don’t stress.
Generally I’ve felt fuller but I’ve had a few cravings. Even so a few squares of chocolate satisfies me rather than the whole family sized block.
I find that if I eat too much I’m uncomfortable that night. I had stomach pains a few nights ago, and I’ve had a bit of reflux or heartburn.
I’ve switched to wholemeal bread and upped my protein and that seems to have stopped the constipation I had.
My GP said stop when you feel full but that’s a steep learning curve when you’re used to clearing your plate and then having desert.

Papergirl1968 · 09/06/2024 21:15

I really couldn’t afford to buy it so am very grateful to get mine in the NHS but it seems GPs will only prescribe it when you’re both very overweight AND diabetic, which I am.

Jibberoo · 09/06/2024 21:47

@BellaCriesAndThatsAlright I tried to reorder but the website wouldn't let me - just kept glitching. I then did a whole new consultation and got as far as PayPal payment (went through but I wanted to pay by credit card but that wouldn't work) then the whole order disappeared. I ended up calling them and they found my rose somehow but because it wasn't finished I had to delete and start again. So I decided to avoid and pay extra to use boots as didn't want to miss the delivery of next pen.
I then saw a post on TikTok recommending family chemist which seems to do it much cheaper. Think I'll try that next time.

@Papergirl1968 my gp is impossible to get into. My bmi is high enough and I have pre diabetes so probably do qualify but decided to just get it. Think I'll be more disciplined if it's costing me a fortune plus I have less to spend on food!
