I think it just becomes less potent. I'm on pen four and none have been kept in the fridge ever and have been sat around waiting for me to use them.

somedogsdo · 18/07/2024 20:25

So I've had my first bout of vomiting/diarrhoea today. Week 17 so guess I'm lucky to have got this far without it.

I had the most awful burbs last night and was sick this morning which progressed nicely on to diarrhoea this afternoon. I feel pretty awful and very nauseous/grumbly tummy - also not sure what triggered it as I took my shot a week ago (was due today but I haven't taken it) and it was the same 1mg as I've had for a few weeks now.

I did have a migraine this week so have been taking triptans so maybe it wasn't a good mix.

For those in the know, How long to these episodes usually last? Luckily not working today but am supposed to be going out tomorrow night and I have no idea if I'll be able to. Grateful for any words of wisdom or advice.

PrimalLass · 19/07/2024 08:25

When I was sick I was ok within 12 hours and on a plane by 5pm. At 9 in the morning I could barely walk round my own house as I was so dizzy!

I'm still not 100% that's what caused it but it took weeks before I had the nerve to jab again.

Annoyingly I put 4lb back on but am on the case now. I've accepted I might still be on a low dose until the end of the year now.

somedogsdo · 19/07/2024 13:24

Thanks @PrimalLass sorry to hear you were so poorly but helpful to know you bounced back quite quickly.

I'm now thinking it may have actually been nothing to do with the wegovy as my son's come down with a throat/cough bug and also vomited last night.

So possibly I had it too but it just showed up as gastro symptoms in me.

I hope you manage to get back on track. I was actually thinking of having a break for a few weeks in August and possibly switching to mounjaro just because I've heard the fatigue might not be so bad.

TryingWegovy · 19/07/2024 15:16

Hi, I've just started Wegovy, hope it's ok to join?

I've been on it for 2 weeks and have lost 4kg, which I'm pretty pleased with (feels like a long way to go still but like it might not be impossible...)

Hi 🫶🏻

PinkCaro · 19/07/2024 20:44

I just ordered my second 1mg pen (4th pen in total) and pharmacy 2 u wanted photo id, a full length photo... gosh I've never tried to hard to take an unflattering photo.

You're probably right - Sounds very much like a tummy bug to me. I've always found the nausea is directly related to eating, and I've only actually vomited when I overate by accident. Yikes!

UnicornAndSparkles · 19/07/2024 21:36

Well done for all the losses!

Checking in...

This is my penultimate week!

SW 204
CW 184

20lb down in 17 weeks. Slow and steady but feel like I'm winning the race and am at a BMI of 30 now. The last time I was this weight was Nov 2022.

One more dose of around 0.8 (click counting) and I'm quitting and going to attempt to maintain and very slowly continue to lose, aiming for 1lb loss ever 2 weeks, so approx half the rate of my wegovy assisted loss. I'm SO done with the side effects, nausea and exhaustion.

TryingWegovy · 20/07/2024 10:10

Wow, that's a great achievement @UnicornAndSparkles !

PrimalLass · 22/07/2024 14:35

Great job @UnicornAndSparkles

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

PrimalLass · 22/07/2024 21:37

Think I'm finally starting to feel the effects again after having to build it back up.

DamnItBetsy · 22/07/2024 22:52

After a four week break, I started Mounjaro yesterday. I know it’s essentially the same thing, but am hoping the side effects won’t slay me quite as much as Wegovy. Probably entirely wishful thinking. It’s weird taking Mounjaro though, it’s a 2.5mg dose and takes ages for the pen to fully click round, have to hold it in for ages.

DamnItBetsy · 22/07/2024 22:53

. . . so, I suppose I better hop over to a Mounjaro thread.

Good luck on your journeys everyone 😊

PrimalLass · 22/07/2024 23:24

Good luck @DamnItBetsy.

I might end up joining you if I don't start losing again.

pingpongding · 28/07/2024 22:57

Hi all

Just saying that now I'm on 2.4mg I have no side effects. It's like my tolerance has improved with each increase.

pingpongding · 28/07/2024 23:01

Does anyone think the cost will go down as wegovy license ends and generic ones become available? I'd like to stay on it to maintain but not at £220 every 4 weeks

starlilly88 · 29/07/2024 12:18

Not been on the thread for a few weeks. I plateaued for a while, then went on holiday so had a 2 week break. The appetite suppression did seem to last the 2 weeks and I started back on 0.5 with no side effects. I've been more hungry though as I ate so much on holiday. I did only put on 3lbs though, so happy with that.

I need to order another pen, and I normally order from Bolt. It is now asking for current weight, and I am now under 30 BMI with probably another stone or so to lose. For those who order from Bolt, will they still prescribe if under 30 BMI?

DollyPlastic · 29/07/2024 21:50

Probably entirely wishful thinking. It’s weird taking Mounjaro though, it’s a 2.5mg dose and takes ages for the pen to fully click round, have to hold it in for ages.

I switched and taking my third MJ tomorrow. No side effects at all. It's a bit odd seeing how much 2.5 is though compared to the wegovy. Good luck with it, I'm finding the appetite suppressing very good.

pingpongding · 29/07/2024 22:45

@starlilly88

Bolt keep prescribing until you reach your goal BMI of 25 and then still prescribe for maintenance. There is a theory that you need to have it for life but at the moment it could be for two years

starlilly88 · 30/07/2024 13:42

@pingpongding that's great, thanks. Not near my target yet so worried they wouldn't prescribe anymore

igiveuptrying · 05/08/2024 07:43

Hello everyone!

Just started last week. Have stopped snacking but haven’t had the forgetting to eat that I have heard other people talk about. Weighed myself this morning and only down 0.5kg - was hoping that would have been more.

It should come, it was quite gradual. I forget to snack, I never forget to eat a meal 🤪.

PinkCaro · 07/08/2024 12:31

I've lost another kg this last week, I've lost 14% of my starting weight, bmi is now 26.7. BMI is a problematic measurement, but it's a measure I don't mind using at the moment as a surrogate for 'health benefits'.

I miss being hungry.

dandeliondaisy · 08/08/2024 08:38

Hi all, I'm feeling a bit down about the entire process. I did my 4 weeks on 0.25 then 4 weeks on 0.5, I'm now about to do week 3 of 1mg and I've lost a mere 4 pounds. I haven't had any side effects and am eating around 1500-1800 calories, I'd say that food is very slightly less appealing but definitely still enjoyable. It just doesn't seem to have the same effect for me in terms of this 'Christmas dinner full' thing / ability to not eat for hours on end. Granted I stop eating after 75% of a plate of food, easily (which is probably unheard of!) but I wouldn't happily turn down meals etc. I don't really know what I'm asking as I know the answer: eat less. I thought it might be easier tbh. Anyone else?
