I went to see the orthopaedic consultant last Thursday and my BMI has reduced by 6 points since they saw me in November. But even better than that (for me) the acute and intense pain that I had in my knee has now subsided to such an extent that I’ve not been listed for a knee replacement. Admittedly I did also have a steroid injection in November but I’m 100% sure that losing 3 stone has massively helped.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still classed as obese and so there’s still more (another 3 stone I think will be right for me) that I need to lose. I do still need a knee replacement (old injury plus osteoarthritis ). But not having to have major surgery in the next few months and perhaps even years is a real win. The longer I can put it off the better so that I don’t need another one in 20/25 years time.
The consultant was really complementary and I did say I was taking Wegovy and he said he wished he was able to prescribe it and hopes in the future he can. But honestly I’m delighted that (fingers and toes crossed, touch wood) that I’m pain free and that’s thanks to Wegovy.
I’m still suffering side effects (if suffering is the right word) of low blood pressure and at times nausea and haven’t yet got even to being able to tolerate the 1mg dose. But as we keep saying if the dose you’re taking is working then there’s no need to increase.
