We have a similar starting point but I think I started a week after you. I started 10th April at 12 stone 8 and have 9 pounds off. Started the 0.5 dose on Wednesday.
I think for most people it doesn't really kick in until you are on the higher doses. Have you noticed many symptoms?

anoldcharter · 10/05/2024 08:57

oh wow @AhBiscuits you are so close to goal..... 😀😀😀

really good losses @ManchesterMarie and @DamnItBetsy
6.4lb in 5 weeks is a good steady loss, you've practically lost half a stone which is fab, all those losses soon add up

AhBiscuits · 10/05/2024 09:04

You're doing great @ManchesterMarie keep on chipping away and you'll get there.

Same to you @DamnItBetsy I've never really had big losses but I have had consistent losses and that's so much better. I'd take a lb a week happily. With standard diets you tend to have some big losses at the start and then it gets hard. I've found just steady small losses the whole time on Wegovy and it soon adds up.

I don't really track calories, but when I do out of interest I've found they're fairly low. I focus on no snacks ever and plenty of fruit and veg. I tend to have fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, a salad wrap and an apple and orange for lunch and then just a normal family dinner, but a small portion and ensuring a variety if veg.
I don't do loads of exercise but I do cycle to and from work 3 times a week. And I live somewhere hilly so it works the thighs 😄and I go for a run once or twice a week. I try not to use the car if I can avoid it so get a reasonable amount of steps in.

Weigh in day after 5 weeks.
start weight 12st 6
current weight 11st 13.6
goal weight 10st 8

6.4lbs in five weeks really doesn’t seem like much. 😔

Be kind to yourself, it's a loading dose in the beginning. It's 3% of your body weight lost, which I think seems comparable to the studies? (Only from memory though) and 1-2lb a week will give your body time to adjust, stops you going into starvation mode and weight loss stalling xx

Please keep going. I was quite disheartened at first when I didn't get the big losses I've read others have. But I've now lost a stone and not had any hunger or binges (apart from a blip in week 2).

I think we expect miracles but ultimately weight loss that is slow and steady is more likely to stay off (or at least I hope so!).

Lovesthebeach · 10/05/2024 20:05

Hi everyone, just catching up on the past couple of weeks!

It’s so lovely to check in and see how well everyone is doing and more people heading towards goal!

A little update from me… I met my initial target but then kept loosing so I adjusted my target to the all singing all dancing mega target that I never in a million years thought was achievable… I’m 1ib away from it!!

SW 12st 11ibs (might have been 13ibs but I can’t remember)
GW 10st
CW 9st 8ibs
New Goal weight 9st 7ish

Im a shorty so my bmi is 23.6 I think.

Started end of October

last time I posted I was planning on tapering off, but I’ve had a few weeks where I’ve really struggled with eating rubbish food (albeit not huge quantities). So I’ve ended up staying on the 1.0 dose and this week it feels like it’s working again…

Im honestly nervous to come off it - it’s my crutch/safety blanket now and I’m scared I’m going to start stuffing my face again even though I’ve been so good overall and made lots of positive changes.

So ive decided to order one more pen of 1.0 and will use it to have a fairly long taper period!

For anyone that’s reading considering wegovy or worrying you’re not loosing enough weight to begin with. Stick with it.. I felt similar at the beginning but it does all add up. I’ve lost most of my weight on the 1.0 dose.

I will definitely be sticking around this thread and also the Maintenence thread as I feel like keeping off the weight is the biggest battle of all! :-)

StaySpicy · 10/05/2024 22:52

@Lovesthebeach Thank you so much for this timely reminder. I'm on another thread for Mounjaro and Wegovy newbies and they all seem to be on MJ and losing lbs and lbs every week. I'm taking my 4th 0.25mg dose this evening and I've "only" lost 3lbs.

It is so good to be reminded that even 1lb a week is a slow but steady loss and perhaps it'll have more chance of staying off if it's a slow loss.

Very grateful for this thread!

SW: 12st 13
CW: 12st 10
GW: 10st, maybe? Not sure. I'm only 5'1!

Oncetwicethreetimesalady · 10/05/2024 22:52

I’ve been on wegovy since mid Jan. Slow to start but steadily I have lost almost 2 stone.
I’ve been on 1mg for two months now. Weirdly two weeks ago I had some absolutely awful side effects with D&V for three days, couldn’t eat at all. Since then I have an even smaller appetite and have been eating significantly less, with not a single little treat or slip. But, I’ve not lost a single gram since then. What can this mean?

Lovesthebeach · 11/05/2024 07:27

@StaySpicy i definitely didn’t properly start loosing until I moved up from 0.25. If you think about how small that dose is compared to the max dose, it’s tiny really!

I know it’s cliche, it all the ibs do add up…. I was so used to loosing big chunks of weight at the beginning of a diet I’d never really got my head around the ib a week thing.. I’m too impatient… but that’s 52ibs a year (over 3.5 stone) :-)

Lovesthebeach · 11/05/2024 07:29

@Oncetwicethreetimesalady wow that’s brilliant progress so far!! I also had the random d&v a few times…
It seems strange you’ve not lost anything since? Although I found on this journey I’d drop a good few ibs then for a few weeks bounce around going up and down the same weight before starting to lose again. I wonder if it’s your body just getting used to its new weight before it pushes on again???
Are you drinking enough?

UnicornAndSparkles · 11/05/2024 13:53

These posts have made me want to continue, thank you. I'm about to take my last 0.5 dose tonight and my loss in 7 weeks hasn't been huge, maybe 9lb or so. But pre Wegovy I'd have been putting on 1-2lb in that time purely from over- eating. The jump from 0.5 to 1 scares me a bit though. I feel grim for a day after injecting and I don't want to feel doubly bad. Should I count the clicks to increase to 0.7 and then 1? Or just go for it and hope?!

Oncetwicethreetimesalady · 11/05/2024 14:21

@Lovesthebeach prior to wegovy I tried various methods of losing weight but none really worked. I went entirely sugar/alcohol free low carb for six weeks and put ON weight one time. Nonsensical.

my scale measured weight has always fluctuated quite a bit day to day. I use happy scale app because it smooths out those variables.

Overall though I do think my body has a very strong set range it tries to maintain. It’s stuck a few times on wevovy but this time I’ve been eating less than ever and stuck for longer than ever. it’s pretty frustrating. I think I am drinking plenty of fluids, I’ll keep a closer eye on it in case that’s part of the problem.

Another weird (but good) thing is that I’m overdue my injection by 2 days now (prescription not ready) but not feeling particularly hungry at all. Must still be in my system even now.

@UnicornAndSparkles in my experience the worst side effects came randomly after I’d been on the same dose for 5 weeks, not when I went up a level.

Lovesthebeach · 11/05/2024 20:44

I was really nervous about the jump to 1.0 and think I may have done 0.75 for a couple of weeks… I actually can’t remember! It was fine though. I’ve never really had side effects from increasing the dose… mine have been a bit random or when I know I’ve overeaten!!

@Oncetwicethreetimesalady wow that’s some strict dieting you’ve done and not lost weight… how bloody frustrating!!

I know it seems counter productive but have you tried maybe having a day or 2 of eating more to almost shock your body into loosing again?

AhBiscuits · 12/05/2024 09:27

I've had a bad weekend 😬
We had a BBQ and eurovision party yesterday. I ate and drank a lot. So much Pimms 🙈This is where the reduced dose is noticeable because I was able to do it and today I feel OK. If I was still on 1mg I would be throwing up right now. Back on the wagon and hope the scales don't punish me too severely.

can anyone please tell me the cheapest place to get wegovy? I’m doing my last injection of the 0.25 so need to order the next one. I ordered my first pen from
pharmacy2u using a promo code but it won’t work anymore.

PrimalLass · 12/05/2024 10:39

I think you just need to trawl the sites on the day you want to order.

anoldcharter · 09/05/2024 13:09

hope you are feeling better today @jay55
congrats on getting to goal @sillysausage92 that must feel amazing.... i think there are a few who might also be in your position who are or have started a maintenance thread @AhBiscuits might be able to help?

ha ha @AllBlackEverything just wondered how you feel about your goal weight as technically we will still be classed as overweight at 170lbs and 26.5 according to the BMI calculator, so I think 155lbs is at top end of normal range? I can't imagine getting to that weight at all? 😱

Well, going by BMI I will still technically be overweight once I reach my goal, but realistically it's the weight at which I look good whilst also enjoying moderate amounts of nice food and wine.

I personally like having boobs and a bum. I love nice meals out and a nice glass of red. When I have been much lower than 170, I have looked gaunt in the face. I am also aware that losing much more than that will increase the risk of sagging etc, especially as I get older.

So for now, I am aiming for 170, but I'm open to reassessing once I reach that goal.

How about you @anoldcharter do you think you will reassess? Have you looked back at photos from when you were last 170,and how do you think you looked then?

I would just grit your teeth and power through, but I actually don't think I felt any worse going from 0.5 to 1. Just the same first day or two of nausea, but no worse. I stayed on 1 for quite a while.

9lb in 7 weeks is really good progress. Every 1lb is another lb towards your goal. Also consider that you are building healthier eating habits as time goes on. It's a marathon, not a sprint!

Hi, I used a different code a couple of weeks ago and it was fine. Just keep googling/trying until you find one - pharmacy2u is cheeky because they have 2 slightly different sites, each with different codes 🤷🏼‍♀️ good luck xx

Has anyone else noticed hair loss? My hair is falling out much much more than normal when I wash it or brush it. It's starting to feel really thin.

I haven't noticed any difference with my hair. Have you been taking vitamins? If you aren't hungry you might not be eating enough of the right things to get the nutrients that you need.

Yes it's very common when you lose weight. Both times I've lost a significant amount the hear loss has started in earnest about 3 months in, and calmed down 3 months later

Not yet - but I am having collagen every day to try and help just in case.

AhBiscuits · 13/05/2024 11:13

The scales are showing +1.5lbs after a weekend of excess. Wine, Pimms, cider, a takeaway, a BBQ, snacks...
It wasn't just a normal weekend, we had an anniversary celebration and a Eurovision party. The average weekend won't be like this.

I feel a bit mixed about it. I was able to do it, and enjoy it and not feel unwell. So this shows that the reduced doses I've been taking do make a big difference, the effects are wearing off. It's really nice to be able to go to a party and feel fine both at the time and the next day. It's also a worry that I'll return to old habits of treating every weekend like Christmas and it will be a slide back to where I was. I won't let this happen. This week will be back to fresh fruit and veg, low calories and the gain will be gone by Friday weigh in and next weekend will be a normal healthy weekend💪
