I think it’s fine that you let your hair down @AhBiscuits . As you say as long as it isn’t every weekend and as long as you employ a damage limitation for a few days, no harm done. You have to be able to live your life or it won’t be sustainable long term.

jay55 · 13/05/2024 12:39

Last year I gained 7kgs on a weeks cruise, and I didn't massively over do it on the food. It was the booze and water retention I think.
It melted back off within two weeks.

A few normal days and some water will wash away 1.5lbs and you know you can do that no problem.

I think the meds really help in stopping a downward spiral after an indulgent event.

AhBiscuits · 13/05/2024 13:02

Thanks both.
Yes the downward spiral is what I'm very anxious to avoid. And I think I will avoid it because I'm very aware of it and the danger of letting things slip.

Been on 0.5 for a couple of months but was getting a bit hungry so got 1.0 pen. Was a little nervous about increasing straight to 1.0 so counted the clicks and did 0.75. Totally wiped out this morning, so tired and feeling sick. Can't face any food, even a cup of tea is too much. I haven't really had side effects before, how long is this likely to last? Wondering whether to go back to 0.5 next week as I hate feeling sick

Tindrum · 13/05/2024 13:20

You just have to avoid all or nothing thinking. As long as you go forward with 80/20 thinking you should keep on track.

Tindrum · 13/05/2024 13:30

(my comment above was for AhBiscuits not starlily88)

PinkCaro · 13/05/2024 14:33

Yay @AhBiscuits that's good, and like you say, learning the lessons of self control :)
@PrimalLass @witte not yet, byfbit makes sense if there isn't enough protein - just made myself a protein drink as I've been neglecting protein this last week

im in week 5, went up to .32 using the click chart. Slight slowing of bowels, I can skip breakfast if I feel like it (but I'm unwell atm so not worth skipping meals)

I've always found I inject Monday, feel sick Tuesday, feel less sick but a bit of a dodgy tummy on Wednesday and largely fine Thursday.

@AhBiscuits thanks, hoping I will feel better tomorrow. As soon as I sit down, I'm asleep!

The scales are showing +1.5lbs after a weekend of excess. Wine, Pimms, cider, a takeaway, a BBQ, snacks...
It wasn't just a normal weekend, we had an anniversary celebration and a Eurovision party. The average weekend won't be like this.

I feel a bit mixed about it. I was able to do it, and enjoy it and not feel unwell. So this shows that the reduced doses I've been taking do make a big difference, the effects are wearing off. It's really nice to be able to go to a party and feel fine both at the time and the next day. It's also a worry that I'll return to old habits of treating every weekend like Christmas and it will be a slide back to where I was. I won't let this happen. This week will be back to fresh fruit and veg, low calories and the gain will be gone by Friday weigh in and next weekend will be a normal healthy weekend💪

It’s so lovely you had a good weekend with no ill effects. I totally understand your worries though as I feel the same way…
i think having a weekend of celebrating with nice food and drink then healthy during the week is what a lot of people do…
I think you’ve totally smashed your weight loss journey and there’s no way you’ll let it slide!!

AhBiscuits · 14/05/2024 08:23

Very interesting indeed. I'm so grateful for this wonderful drug.

My weekend gain is already gone 😊

Yes I thought that sounded really positive, so many benefits and preventative actions.

I took my first dose of 0.5 on Wednesday and was violently sick on Friday, felt tender most of the weekend. Saturday was my birthday so not ideal! Not sure whether to try the 0.5 again tomorrow or reduce it a bit. I am really short so although I am morbidly obese, there is less of me to soak up the medicine.

jay55 · 14/05/2024 09:18

@boatgirl81 I was sick last week after 1.0 and it was awful, so my sympathies to you. Maybe go half way next week and see if it's better.

@AhBiscuits great news that the Eurovision gain is already gone. Makes things hopeful for a normal social life long term.

I've had a good week on the scales, if not with the side effects. But decided to stick with 1.0 again and hope it's not so rough this time.

I'm down 7.3kg since starting wegovy, and under 100kgs for the first time in probably more than a decade.

SW on saxenda 140.6kg
SW on wegovy 107kg
CW 99.65kg
GW 80kg

Hey, I didn't want to double the dose to .5, so I did .32 and I feel okay, although still need a lot of self control around easy foods. I feel like the click chart is somewhere around page 12 but I've dropped the .5 one here for you as I have it handy x

AccidentallyFellAmongBiscuits · 14/05/2024 14:41

Would it be ok to ask an Ozempic question on this thread as there seem to be lots of people here with in depth knowledge of side effects and how it works (I am currently on it)?

Of course - wegovy and ozempic are the same drug but different brand names, strengths of semaglutide and manufactured for different clientele so we might be able to help!

Flatleak · 14/05/2024 15:27

I am remembering today how wegovy is not for the faint hearted. 10days after my last 1.5 dose I injected again but accidentally took 2mg (I think - I read the chart wrong).

That was Sunday evening and this morning I'm back to diarrhoea and vomiting. Sigh. Upside I suppose is I've had half a salad to eat today.

I am wondering about the side effect of fatigue.

I've been on ozempic, private prescription, for a couple of years. With supply issues and other family related blips I've had a few short gaps with alternatives or nothing and had to restart on a lower dose then increase 3 or 4 times to get to my maximum which is 2mg ozempic per week. I've been back up to this for a few weeks now.

I'm grateful for the weight loss I've had which is significant for me but nowhere near some people on this thread.

I am getting a lot of fatigue including falling asleep during the day when I don't want to. I feel absolutely poleaxed sometimes. In general my energy levels are not great at any point of the day. Sometimes I have a real craving to eat something sugary to get some energy. Caffeine doesn't necessarily help much.

Could this fatigue be Ozempic related? If so what is happening inside the body?

jay55 · 14/05/2024 19:48

Yes fatigue is absolutely an issue, both from the drug and the calorie deficit.
I head for a nap as soon as I log off from work most days.

AhBiscuits · 14/05/2024 20:02

Fatigue has been my main and worst side effect. I've had spells like a zombie. I don't know if there's a way of reducing it but it's one of the main reasons I'm quitting completely at goal rather than trying a maintenance dose.

Lovesthebeach · 14/05/2024 20:32

I’ve felt tired and at times really tired, but I’m not sure if that’s a side effect of the medication or a side effect of a busy life lol! I also find that I have a lot less energy during the winter, so will be interesting to see if my energy levels pick up as I come off it??

AccidentallyFellAmongBiscuits · 14/05/2024 20:33

Thank you, its so extreme at the moment but I am very slowly losing again.

Do you know what the physical mechanisms are?

AhBiscuits · 14/05/2024 20:41

I think it's partly because of lower blood sugar and partly your body trying to conserve energy after a long spell in calorie deficit.

Yep, I agree. It'll be not eating enough. Fatigue is when your energy levels can't keep up with day to day living, like you're tired to your bone. So even showering takes spoons.

I recommend a small, calorie dense snack mid morning and afternoon - 10 pistachios and a square of chocolate is mine (small so it doesn't trigger the nausea), or fruit. This stops you running on empty and means the fatigue can't get a proper hold. Never run on empty, it's not worth it.

Look up Spoon Theory. It's a chronic illness thing, very very useful for fatigue (I can't tell what's the drug and what's my baseline anyway).

As for the mechanism of why semaglutide causes fatigue... all drugs have side effects... I wonder if the new research today discusses it? I've not got the spoons to google and skim read it this week 🤣.
