I have decided to start with Mourjano. Have put an order in with Asda and should hopefully be delivered soon!

Anyone else going to give Mourjano a go?

Hey all, my needles arrived and I got the last bit out. It was about 0.6ml. I injected it thinking it was 0.6mg so would make my dose about 3mg, but now thinking what's the conversion from ml to grams!? Have i injected too much?!

I will go try and figure out the conversion!

Also, don't know who plans to get the needles and inject, but I tried my tummy first and the needle hurt too much and wouldn't pierce, so tried the thigh and that was less painful!

Hello. Are the needles on these the same size as the official pens? I think I'd be worried about injecting the drug deeper than it's meant to be 😳 I like how sort and fine the existing needles are.

ObsidianTree · 12/03/2024 16:41

@Thebaldprimadonna the needles are longer and thicker. I didn't feel it too much in the thigh. But hurt when trying to put in my tummy. I don't think it matters how deep the needle goes if it's into fat. But I did try and make it that I starting injecting once it was about 1cm in.

I've had to inject blood thinners recently and it reminded me of injecting that.

I am more concerned that I injected too much!

I think I'm now going to assume that 0.6ml is roughly 2.6mg. As I can't find a conversion and it seems difficult to convert! So going by how much there seemed to be left!

@ObsidianTree - reminder - I am in the US using single dose pens. But my Mounjaro is marked as 5ml at whatever concentration. So my 7.5mg is in 5ml. So if you did 6ml of 2.5mg, you basically took a little bit more than a 2.5 mg dose.

ObsidianTree · 12/03/2024 17:21

Ah thanks @spamm ! I was starting to worry I took another 6mg!

So that would put my last dose at about 5mg. So happy with that!

spamm · 12/03/2024 17:41

I was worrying about this @ObsidianTree - but I found this: www.medicines.org.uk/emc/files/usermanual.15483.pdf

Basically it seems like the Kwickpen issues a 0.6ml dose each time you dial to 1, so you basically got a 2.5mg dose.

NCfor24 · 12/03/2024 17:59

So I've ordered and am waiting on Bolt Pharmacy to approve it..BMI is 34 ish so not expecting an issue.
So I'm now wondering when is best to start. I'm brand new in a job and my brain is fried, I'm already struggling, so would you do first dose on a weekend? Or wait til I break up for a week for Easter? Am I overthinking it and it won't impact my ability to just crack on?!
I'm super excited and just want to get going, but I also can't afford to not be totally on it mentally at work!

izzy2076 · 12/03/2024 18:56

I took my first dose at 11 am this morning. The first time I think I failed or at least I hope I did. I did it and don't think I heard the click (I was flustered and over excited doing it in the toilets at work) and when I took it out, the vial was still completely full. So I did it again and there's 3/4 left so I hope I haven't o'ded on it.

I feel spaced out. Slightly dodgy stomach. Stomach is hungry but weirdly, my head isn't...very strange. Hoping I sleep tonight after 2 white nights of menopausal insomnia.

RunningAndSinging · 12/03/2024 19:00

Each dose is 0.6ml - it says it on the pen:

’4 doses of 0.6ml solution
2.4 ml solution that can be administered’

@NCfor24 - I decided to do Fridays for exactly the reasons you listed. It gives me 3 days to get over the weekend and figuring out how I feel and what side effects I am dealing with. On 2.5 and 5.0, it meant that things were settling down by Monday, and I was not going to experience any surprises. Not foolproof, but has worked well for me. I generally have some nausea to deal with on Saturday/ Sunday and it has settled by Monday.

However, my weekends tend to be quieter - maybe meeting up with friends for dinner, or a drink. Relaxing and catching up on chores.

If you want to eat and drink merrily, then this probably won't work. Depends on your priorities.

NCfor24 · 12/03/2024 19:10

I can definitely aim for a quiet weekend to get started and I have next Monday off so I think if it arrives in time I'll go for Friday as day one. I'm so impatient, I want to get on it now!
I'm not expecting miracles but the lack of food noise people describe would be a godsend. I've tried explaining to my husband how I'm thinking about you eating or not eating or what to to eat next constantly. "Food" occupies far too much brain space and I'd love some relief so I can enjoy eating for fuel not the emotional hit.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 12/03/2024 19:12

Anyone getting bad indigestion from it? Tends to be in evening if I get it and it might be linked to food (only took second dose this morning but I think bread might trigger it)
It's my only symptom though, but it is the lowest dose.

ChequeredPastel · 12/03/2024 19:23

Hi all, I took my first dose today - how long did it take to kick in for you all? I’m feeling nothing 😂

cloudchaos · 12/03/2024 19:23

@NaturalBlondeYeahRight yes I am a little. It seems to be if I've had just a little too much to eat, or water with my meal.

Stickthatupyourdojo · 12/03/2024 19:30

Hi everyone. Well done for getting the last bit out of your pen @ObsidianTree! It's not cheap stuff is it so that's a definite win.

Mine came on Saturday but I waited until just now to take it as I had to be in the office yesterday and today and it's 50 miles away so didn't want to risk any dodgy side effects or early starts if I don't sleep. Pleasantly surprised at how short and fine the needles are, no bother pushing it in. I'm excited but also really nervous to see how it all plays out. I'm not going to track food for the first week but see how it goes.

Onedaylikethi5 · 12/03/2024 19:54

I took my first dose on Sunday night. So far so good. No real side effects to mention, some appetite suppression but not got rid of food noise yet.

I’m being really careful with what I eat. No processed foods, ensuring everything I do eat is really nutritious, very low carb and high protein. This hasn’t be a pathway to a change that lasts far beyond the medication for me. I’m tracking my food.

I’ve got a very long road ahead of me, but I’m resolute that this has to be an opportunity to change forever, because I want to be healthy and live a full brilliant life. I’m hoping this investment in myself will make that difference.

How long did it take to get some appetite suppression? Was it immediate or the next day etc

FlappyFish · 12/03/2024 20:18

It slows down your digestion too. Another fun part of this. I tried to eat two skinless chicken thighs for dinner and only managed one. I wish we’d had this years ago. I’d have had a much better 20’s and 30’s.

I’m not sure how much is appetite suppressing and how much is sheer bloody mindedness at this stage. Im coping fine without my usual high level of carbs. I’ve cut back on mugs of tea and I’m drinking lots of water as I have noticed I’m really thirsty. my BMI is above 40 so I’ve got such such a long road ahead, but it feels manageable.

Some people feel it after a few hours, some people need a higher dose to feel it's effect.

Wish me luck ladies I’m just about to take my second dose, I passed out last time coz I’m an anxious wreck 🙈 my partner is away for work tonight and eldest daughter is at work so I’ll lie on the bed and administer myself whilst giving my silly self a pep talk, not weighed myself yet either I’m going to give it another week, I’ve never been one to fixate on the scale and like to average out over a month anyways!

Happymoss · 12/03/2024 20:58

Update I’m absolutely fine, last week was just all in my head clearly, going to stay in bed now though just to be safe, have to say today as I was due my dose I’ve definitely been hungrier and my stomach even rumbled this aft which it hasn’t all week! Excited to see how this thread progresses over the months and how well we all do!

LoadsToLose · 12/03/2024 21:33

Third dose today… my legs are suddenly aching again. It took about 5 days to get over the last injection from the aching legs (only side effect). I injected into my belly so nowhere near my legs!

Anyone else get this?

LoadsToLose · 12/03/2024 21:37

Thank you for previous posters explaining how the pharmacist is likely to taper us off at lower, healthy BMIs. That’s put my mind at rest. I’ve read a lot of material, but none of it really covers this aspect, and I’d like to know upfront what I’m signing up to.

I really appreciate the comment above about this being an investment in yourself … that’s a lovely way of looking at it. Have been feeling slightly guilty about taking this money from the household budget but actually it would probably only be spent on food and treats that give us a dopamine hit for the short term, but harm our health in the long term.

NoAprilFool · 12/03/2024 22:11

I’ve gone almost the whole way through the sign up on Boots, Juniper and Asda and just scared to commit.

my problem isn’t hunger. I don’t eat because I’m hungry but because I’m stressed, tired, sad, bored, overwhelmed. Can an appetite suppressant work if it’s not hunger making me eat?

also, has anyone spoken to their GP first? Kind of feel I should but don’t want to take up an appointment when it’s so hard to get one…
