I have decided to start with Mourjano. Have put an order in with Asda and should hopefully be delivered soon!

Anyone else going to give Mourjano a go?

I don't know what bac water is and I don't want to know. I am only interested in injecting what is in the pen. No additions or homemade potions for me either.

@spamm does the NHS have supplies? I'm currently taking Rybelsus as I have T2D but it's not working for me, hoping to switch to M if they have supplies?

As far as I know mounjaro is only available for weight loss, in a similar way that wegovy is for weight loss but Ozempic is for diabetes

Sorry - I am in the US, so it is different here. From what I am learning on this thread, we do not yet know what the Nhs is going to do re: Mounjaro. It is still so new in the Uk.

@FlappyFish No potions class made me smile. Reply and re write it when it doesn't annoy you too much!

I've eaten a particular type of takeaway since being a child. I don't want to say what in case it is outing as have friends on here.

Whenever I've been sad, tired, happy, successful, whatever happens, I've eaten it. Sometimes three times a week. I don't drink. I just don't know what to do without it. It hasn't brought joy for a couple of years. But I kept going. And kept gaining weight.

Right now I am full. So full. I have had one weetabix. A third of what I'd normally have as roast dinner. No pudding.

I am losing weight. This is the result I want - have a disproportionately huge apron stomach to the rest of my body, after a c section 17 years ago.

I am thinking about what I want to be in my brain now that it's not obsessing about what food I will eat next.

@FlappyFish thanks for the syringe info.

I think I want to go up to 5mg as soon as I can but I might save the last dose of my 2.5mg and add it to my last dose of 5mg to make my first dose of 7.5mg. Or does that sound like a bad idea? (I did a quick Google earlier and on Reddit people are doing all sorts eg buying a 15mg pen and then using syringes and something called bac water to get 10 x 7.5mg doses out of it. So now using the '5th' dose suddenly seems normal!)

So going from 2.5mg to 7.5mg? I'm not sure, maybe it's too much of an increase from 2.5? Maybe do 2.5mg for 4th dose and keep the left overs for a 5th dose? Before starting the 5mg pen?

Or do 5mg next and then 7.5mg with the second pen!

@flouncymcflouncerson Mounjaro is actually intended for T2 diabetes but is now also being used for weight loss.

Choux · 10/03/2024 19:37

@ObsidianTree I mean do 4 x 2.5mg then 4 x 5mg then combine both leftover doses for 7.5mg and then start the 7.5mg pen.

Whogivesatossedpancake · 10/03/2024 19:53

Im a lurker, i've just started on MJ last Wed, no negative side affects so far. As with a lot of others, no food noise, no need for food, i can stop eating at half a meal (like normal people?) it feels like a miracle.

Hello - I have been reading everyone’s experiences but not commenting so far. I have now been on Mounjaro for 2 weeks today and have lost 8lb in total. Easiest weight loss of my life, I’ve had no side effects to speak of (although a bit constipated the past couple of days, probably due to not enough water) but that’s it.

I was bracing myself to feel awful, but actually am feeling better than I have for a few years. I’m sleeping better, (aged 49, almost certainly in the menopausal hot flush, insomnia, weight gain joyful phase of life) and definitely suddenly have more energy and just mentally feel better. I take antidepressants but since starting on these injections my mood has significantly improved. Loving not thinking about food or feeling hungry although not so good that I can’t be bothered to cook for the family as I have no interest whatsoever.

I used to struggle with feeling light headed and ill if I didn’t eat but this medicine has removed that feeling completely! I can go for hours without even thinking about food.

I’m doing MFP app and tracking calories which I’ve never bothered with before and am keeping under 1200 cals max. Today I’ve only eaten about 600 - just not at all hungry!
At 5’5” and currently 191lb I am still officially obese but not too far off the magical BMI 30.

Just wanted to say hello anyway and well
done, keep going, to everyone on this journey! Wish I’d done this ages ago!

WobbleTime · 10/03/2024 20:16

I’ve just eaten a slice of rye bread (toasted) with a small avocado mashed on top and some kings prawns. Absolutely stuffed, feel like I’ve had a full roast or something. Weirdest thing ever.
Id love some suggestions of what other people are eating? - as I’m trying to choose healthy options and have no idea (made more difficult because I’m not that bothered).
Im taking a daily electrolyte fizzy tablet in my first bottle of water of the day - wondering if maybe it’s that making me feel less tired and crappy than usual?

Scalessayeek · 10/03/2024 20:26

So I've been doing lots of research about titrating up and lots of people in the US are saying stay with the lowest dose possible if it's working.

Has anyone else considered staying on 2.5mg after the initial 4 weeks? I've already got the 5mg in but thinking of buying another 2.5mg now instead Confused

spamm · 10/03/2024 20:28

@Scalessayeek - completely agree. If it is working, stay at the level you are at. That means you have more options later, if you plateau or that level is no longer having the same effect.

I feel I need a higher dose to feel the effects like some of you. So will go up to the 5mg. But will do some reading too on this.

Re your 5mg pen, you could attempt to count clicks and only give yourself 2.5mg. and bonus it will last double the time! And hopefully you have some extra needles left etc!

I'm so confused. Took my first dose last Sunday (3rd March) and weighed myself on Saturday (9th March) and was down 5lbs. Was so happy. Anyway before my second dose yesterday (10th March) I weighed myself again and I had managed to gain 4lbs back, in less than 24 hours. I dont see how as I was eating what I was eating all week. Thats really annoyed me.

KeepingUndercover · 11/03/2024 08:38

Possibly a scale malfunction? Uneven floors really do for scales. Also I'm always much heavier in the evening than the morning.

I've taken my first dose this morning. I was a bit nervous about the injection but didn't really feel it go in at all. I told my other half what I was doing, which felt slightly mortifying for some reason but he was very supportive. I didn't want to hide it in case I get awful side effects or something.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 11/03/2024 08:59

I'm really struggling on week 3 and yesterday I just couldn't stop eating. Today already feels like it will be difficult too. Maybe it's because my period is due but I've lost control of the snacking. I've never had that 'too full to eat' feeling that many on here mention so it's hard not to give into the cravings.

FlappyFish · 11/03/2024 09:43

Needing a big poo, water retention, TOTM anything. Our bodies aren’t neat machines and my weight does that too. I know it’s really hard but it’s focussing on the long term. It’s also week one.

@PissedOffNeighbour22 I hope moving up helps. Seeing that chart before and remembering 2.5 is a loading dose I guess means we are all just reacting differently. TOTM is a bitch. We can’t beat that hormone surge. It really has been my downfall as to see myself gain 7lb in two days used to break me. Even if it was consistent each month.

@KeepingUndercover welcome to the thread!

Wonkypictureframe · 11/03/2024 10:05

My PT weighs herself every day because she worries that if she weighed just weekly and it was a ‘wrong’ day she wouldn’t see the trends. She is a weightlifter keeping an eye on her gain rather than trying to lose but the point is the same I guess.

It's probably just a glitch. Don't worry about it too much. Try again tomorrow and see what happens.

I've not had that too full to eat feeling either. You probably need to go up a dose etc. I'm the same. It might take until I'm on 5mg plus to get that too full to think about food phase! Can't wait for that 😂

2 days in. Feel good no side effects so far. I drank some wine last night, might as well as had water - no effect which is weird! I didn’t crave crisps though which is amazing. Didn’t even think about them.

Yesterday I had a Mother’s Day breakfast of fruit and granola and yogurt make by DD2 and a Thai noodle curry dinner made by DD1. Nothing in between. I was gifted some Lola’s cupcakes but haven’t touched them.

Had an egg this morning followed by fybogel - not taking any chances!

YouAreEffluentKim · 11/03/2024 11:03

Another newbie checking in! I've got a terrible history of yo yo dieting and am hoping that this time I can nail maintenance as it's the food noise that kills me.

I ordered the Bolt starter pack on Tuesday and it arrived the following day. I was so excited to get started that I injected that evening without thinking through that my first 5mg dose will be two days before I go away on a long weekend with my son's sports team at the beginning of April. It's a pretty social affair and quite active.

I don't have severe side effects after the 2.5mg so hoping I'll be ok but the side effects I did get (body aches, skin sensitivity and mild heart burn) were on the Friday and Saturday so very bad timing!

So just wondering for those of you who went from 2.5 to 5, was the jump up quite intense and did it trigger bad side effects? Am thinking about injecting every 8/9 days instead of 7 so that my first 5mg will be on the Monday evening when I get back, but don't want to cause problems for myself if that means I have even more intense side effects. I'm such an idiot and should have waited to today to inject, but ho hum.

In terms of results, I injected Wed evening and have gone from 80.1kg (I had weighed part way through the day on Tuesday, fully dressed) to 77kg this morning (weighed first thing) so about 6.5lb loss! Remarkable. But for 3 days I've essentially had one meal a day which was low carb so I'm definitely not eating loads. I have had wine though so perhaps I'm slightly dehydrated which could mask my true results.

Low carb has worked brilliantly for me in the past, as has some form of fasting so I'm likely to combine these methods while on the injection as appetite reduction make both super easy!

Sorry for the long waffle but it's great to be on this thread and well done to everyone for taking control of their health Flowers

TipsyHedgehog · 11/03/2024 11:16

Newbie here as well - I’ve been looking for a place I can get hints and tips as this is something way out of my comfort zone!

Been a yoyo dieter for years and recently no matter what I eat / how much exercise I do I just can’t seem to shift the weight - I’m sure I have insulin resistance/high cortisol, so hopefully Mounjaro will be a blessing for me!

I don’t have much to lose compared to some people, but it’s good to be in the same boat as others.

im 5’4 starting at 13 stone and a size 14/16. I’m only hoping to get to a comfortable size 10/12 so let’s see!
