I have decided to start with Mourjano. Have put an order in with Asda and should hopefully be delivered soon!

Anyone else going to give Mourjano a go?

I’m a bit late to the thread. I started today. Terrified of eating too much in case I feel sick. Had an avocado for lunch and a small baked potato for dinner.

DH is going on about side effects and has been staring at me like I’m going to keel over and die any second.

I’m 16 stone and only 5’3” so feel like this is my last chance. I don’t eat that much on the whole but binge on crisps and wine a couple of times a week which has led to my weight creeping up over the last 25 years or so. Hoping to go dry as well.

ObsidianTree · 09/03/2024 21:43

@Katspace good luck with the journey. Don't worry too much about feeling ill if eating too much. So far I haven't had any bad reaction to eating anything. I feel when I eat any meal I will just feel that feeling when you have eaten loads and feel completely stuffed. Usually I will stop eating as feel super full. So you will feel full, but you will feel full and only eaten a fraction of what you would usually eat...if you know what I mean!

I am still freezing! I've dug out an electric bed warmer mat and have put it on my bed! Now getting toasty before sleeping! I think I am going to end up using this a lot.

I am also super constipated. Might need to get some strong laxatives!

I think my question got lost in the ramblings of my last post. I did go on a wee bit. Does anyone know if a BMI of about 27 overweight enough to get a prescription?

FlappyFish · 09/03/2024 22:03

@ObsidianTree I am also cold and have been having a hot bath each night. Nothing else gets heat into my fingers or toes.

I’m taking laxatives a lot. As always the day take one or two… that does nothing. I will readily admit I am taking 6 a night at the moment. Probably not healthy but neither is being this blocked up. It means I’m back to going every morning and for my sanity I need that routine.

FlappyFish · 09/03/2024 22:04

@Updownleftandright i don’t know, sorry. I would have thought so as your BMI is above 25. Try it and see. They will soon tell you.

Updownleftandright · 09/03/2024 22:10

Thanks flappy.i might just take off that extra inch to my height I usually add on to make myself feel better. 😊

Does anyone know if it affects sleep? I'm toying with the idea of ordering it. I exercise, but I just can't control the eating and exercising exacerbates it. I only really want to lose a stone and a half.

FlappyFish · 09/03/2024 22:18

It hasn’t affected my sleep. @Updownleftandright If anything I’ve been more tired, probably because I’m eating in a fair bit of deficit.

I didn’t tick yes on the eating disorder question. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I was treated for bulimia over 20 years ago. I’ve not had that behaviour for years and I didn't want to be asked about it. Ironically I was 2 stone lighter when I was actively binging or purging.

I guess any of us who are overweight could probably be told we have an eating disorder of some kind.

ObsidianTree · 09/03/2024 22:20

@Updownleftandright I'm not sure but you can go try and apply and see if they let you.

Sleep wise I've slept ok. But feeling a bit cold at moment so struggling to sleep.

OP posts:
spamm · 09/03/2024 22:22

@Updownleftandright - it does tend to affect me the night after I take my dose, although this week I am jetlagged, so I don't know up from down in terms of sleep. Otherwise, no other interference with sleep for me.

ObsidianTree · 09/03/2024 22:23

@FlappyFish if the coldness is a long term effect, I recommend a heated mat! It's making me feel nice a toasty tonight! I feel like my body wasn't warming up enough to warm the bed last night so I was just staying cold!

God bless Amazon prime! I don’t even need mine for 3 weeks 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️

Checking in, I injected on Wednesday and have had no appetite suppression at. In fact if anything I’ve eaten more tonight than in a while! Slightly scared this is going to be a waste of yet more money. I’d done so well on Ozempic until boots decided not to prescribe me as their lack of reply meant it had been two weeks since my last jab so they dropped me down.

really need to rethink eating and plan better for work I think.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 10/03/2024 03:10

@flouncymcflouncerson It took about 4 days to start working for me. Then I was far less interested in snacks. I don't have the massively reduced appetite that most on here seem to be finding but I still had a good amount of weight loss.

I'm in the middle of week 3 and I'm hungry most of the time but more able to ignore the hunger than I'm usually able to do. The last couple of days though I haven't been able to stop snacking.

Hi all,

I was wondering if I could join? I started Mounjaro last Monday at 14st7 5ft4.

Ive weighed this morning and I’m 14st 1! So I’ve lost 6 pounds in 6 days. I know it’s probably water weight mostly but I’m ok with that to start with. I have PCOS quite bad and hadn’t had a period since September last year and suddenly I started my period today so I think it’s connected.

I have tried Saxenda, Wegovy and Ozempic before so I’ve been around the houses a little and I stopped them all for the same reason- sulfur burps. I got about four weeks in on all of them and could not stand that egg burp smell anymore. I was embarrassing myself at work and nothing would stop it.

6 days into Mounjaro and luckily haven’t had those horrible burps yet! So fingers crossed this is the one! Appetite has been reduced dramatically and I’ve not binged one bit (I’m usually a eat everything in sight person)

One of my side effects has been coldness to the point I feel so freezing! I’m usually a boiling hot person and also slight raises anxiety feeling I’d say.

Is anyone having bad diarrhea 24-48 hours after the jab on 2.5? I thought I'd overdone the anti-constipation meds but now I think it must be the mounjaro. I've been on the toilet all weekend and it feels awful. I thought it's meant to be the larger doses that cause this not 2.5?

To qualify with a BMI between 27 and 30 you need another weight related condition.

This is from the government’s website: ‘Mounjaro is now authorised for adult patients with a BMI of 30kg/m² or more (obesity), as well as those with a BMI between 27-30kg/m² (overweight) who also have weight-related health problems such as prediabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart problems.’

Updownleftandright · 10/03/2024 07:40

Hmm I don't have any of those. I get joint pain a lot, which I think is because I am bigger now. If I have to send pictures I think it it will be hard to blag as I don't look obese but I do look over weight.

I know someone who probably wasn't BMI over 30 but got ozempic so assume there are rules for different drugs.

No diarrhoea for me and I am four days into week 1. However I have not taken any laxatives or other medications as I thought I would wait and see how my body does on the Mounjaro. I think my digestive system has slowed down a little - which probably helps me not feel as hungry - but I don't feel I need laxatives.

Did you take them before feeling constipated or did you actually feel you needed them?

Give it time. 2.5mg is a starting dose to get your body used to the drug. So by 5mg you should start feeling more of the effects. I didn't feel much my first few doses but by the 3rd I feel it's built up more.

I’m nearing the end of week 3 and it’s definitely wearing off on day 5.

cloudchaos · 10/03/2024 10:12

@Updownleftandright Pharmacy2U didn't ask me for photos if that helps.

@Choux Last week I had some diarrhea a day after the jab, followed by no bowel movements for 6 days so I took some laxatives before my second dose, to try to unblock and then I ended up with diarrhea again. I'm pretty sure it's due to the MJ and not the laxatives though, since it happened both times, but maybe I badly timed it. I was just alarmed it has been 6 days.

It feels awful going from extreme diarrhea to constipation and back to diarrhea again over just a week.

zaffa · 10/03/2024 11:26

Does anyone know if the diarrhoea or constipation can be controlled with diet - I hate taking laxatives so I tend to eat a high fibre bran breakfast and I've heard with other meds that still eating fat etc can increase diarrhoea but not sure if it's the case with MJ (just wandering if there are natural ways to decrease the risk of either).
