I have decided to start with Mourjano. Have put an order in with Asda and should hopefully be delivered soon!

Anyone else going to give Mourjano a go?

Bit worried about the need for laxatives… won’t that lead to lazy bowel if taking often?

I’m thinking whether there’s something I could do in terms of diet to keep things moving- foods to keep in moderation or add maybe?

eldorado02 · 27/02/2024 12:04

Chia seeds work wonders for constipation. Or if you want to switch up over the counter meds, try Movicol (£15 for a big box of sachets).

MapleSpice · 27/02/2024 12:52

I've just ordered my first Mounjaro from Asda, I'm guessing I'll get a message to upload photos? Finally hit breaking point this morning and cried to my DH about how tired I am of feeling huge and trying my best with no results. He's not overly happy (mild understatement) about the cost but I'm hoping that the results will show that it's worth the cost. I'm so miserable and struggle massively with the food noise, chocolate cravings and just constant thoughts about food and then guilt about eating.

Femeia · 27/02/2024 12:57

@ILostMyself I just received my 5ml box and no needles!! Went on to customer support and they are sending them out. So it looks like they aren't good at including them. My first box had 5 needles with it so I'm going to ensure I keep any extra needles safe just in case.

About to go into day 4 and disappointed to have no effects yet. I've been sticking to a low calorie high protein diet and have managed to gain 2lbs! Just hoping this kicks in soon....

zobalina77 · 27/02/2024 13:41

I've ordered 5mg from pharmacy2u as was a bit concerned that asda might not have 5mg stock in in time. Told them I had 2.5mg from asda and they had no problems sending 5mg to me. The feeling of fullness I had on Sunday has gone now so I'm definitely going to have to move up a dose.

April88 · 27/02/2024 14:13

I’ve just done my first dose. Ordered from pharmacy2u using the discount code and it came in 2 days.

Here’s to my first week!

MuthaHubbard · 27/02/2024 14:33

Day 4 here. A pp mentioned witchcraft and that's kind of how I am feeling. No constant food thoughts and actually having to make myself eat something is literally unheard of. My stomach hasn't rumbled once. Dry mouth feeling still there, less intense but making me drink plenty.

Went to a bootcamp session last night straight after work so expected to be hungry by the time I got home. I wasn't but made myself and omelette and even then could only eat half.

No 💩 as yet, but it's normal for me to go three or four days in-between and I'm not feeling uncomfortable - yet.

1stTimeMummy2021 · 27/02/2024 15:34

@spamm Thank you so much, that's so helpful. Hair and muscle loss sounds awful. I really enjoy exercising and have definitely gotten stronger over the last few years, the last thing I want to do is lose that strength.

At the moment I'm not finding myself feeling very hungry, so kind of forcing myself to eat, it's super weird, but I don't want to eat too little and have muscle loss etc. It's hard to get the balance right, thank you for your advice.

ILostMyself · 27/02/2024 15:39

@Femeia maybe I didn’t throw out the needles then! Lucky I had some spare from last year (the needles fit the same as they did on the Ozempic pen).

I took my first dose Sunday evening and although I haven’t been ravenous I still have more appetite than I did on Ozempic (even on the lowest dose). Maybe it hasn’t kicked in for me yet. Tbh, I do worry about relying on it so much as I need to learn how to change my eating habits whilst also having a normal appetite and feeling hunger sometimes. It’s great to fill stuffed all the time and have no interest in food, but it’s not normal really is it (unfortunately 🙄). Hoping by the time I’ve lost the weight I will have changed those habits enough.

RunningAndSinging · 27/02/2024 17:44

I am 24 hours in and haven’t noticed any difference yet. I have avoided chocolate today but that is mostly because I have given myself a talking to that I am on a healthy eating plan. I have come home from work hungry as usual and snacked in some savoury things. I guess the starting dose is quite small.

LoadsToLose · 27/02/2024 18:38

I took my first dose (2.5) at noon today and 2 hours later felt a bit woozy and really stuffed. Now I’m really hungry and eating a sizeable but healthy dinner (low carb, high protein and vegetables).

I’m thinking of this as my last supper and may try to have a desert! Can’t imagine once it kicks in wanting to have desert.

LoadsToLose · 27/02/2024 19:07

Regarding the injection itself, the instructions made it seem much more complicated than it actually was. I found it easy to use. I couldn’t even feel the needle going in (it had, as there was a tiny puncture mark left).

I would recommend getting a sharps box with your order if you don’t already have one. Asda gave me 6/7 needles so I will make sure I keep hold of the extra ones in case I need them in future.

Sharps box disposal must be completed via your Dr/ pharmacist or the local council (England) often has a free service. You can’t put it in the black bin or recycling.

Femeia · 27/02/2024 19:12

That's a good point @LoadsToLose, I wasn't sure what to do with the sharps box. Any idea if it's normal to just hand it over at a pharmacy or do you have to make arrangements?

cloudchaos · 27/02/2024 20:01

Has anyone not had constipation on this? I've just ordered this. But I already struggle badly with constipation and now I'm scared to start in case it makes it really bad!

testingtesting1234567 · 27/02/2024 20:54

first week at 2.5 done.
3.5lb down

drastic decrease in calorie intake but without the effort. I did. A very low calorie diet last year and lost 2 stone but found it HARD. this time, my intake seems similar but it doesn’t feel like a hardship.

interested to see what this week brings.

I have approx 45lb to shift total.

spamm · 27/02/2024 23:52

@testingtesting1234567 - yes, agree. There is still effort, you should try and make good choices, etc, but it is like liquid willpower. Well done on the 3.5lbs, I don't think I lost anything much in my first week.

@cloudchaos - that's a hard one. I have never had issues before Mounjaro, always very regular. I have minor issues, maybe once every couple of weeks. I take gummies, when I know I have not "been" for more than 24-36 hours. I take a broad spectrum Magnesium tablet every day as well, which includes Magnesium Citrate. However, I also remind myself that I am eating a lot less food. I always make sure I have veg / fiber with at least two of my meals - my favorites are peppers, asparagus, tomatoes, cucumber, or some kind of fruit. I have not had to resort to psyllium husks, etc... yet.

Today I was driving through West Virginia - so limited access to healthy food sources, at least in some areas. I ended up having to choose from a McDonald's menu, which was interesting. I went for a bunless chicken sandwich (so a chicken burger) and an unsweet iced tea. At any other time, that would not have been enough and I would be starving, but with Mounjaro, it was ok. Not great, but ok.

Thebaldprimadonna · 28/02/2024 08:00

I have finished my first week and I have lost 8 pounds, which I am delighted with. It's really come off my big stomach.

SW: 13st 10
Week 1: 13st 2

The other main change has been my energy levels. I am waking up naturally a good 90 minutes before usual.

I haven't had any negative side effects other than experiencing low blood sugar a few days ago, which was easily sorted.

I am feeling very encouraged and I was in despair with myself before👌

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 28/02/2024 08:20

First weekly weigh in done and I've lost 9lb.

Starting weight 15st 11
Current weight 15st 2

It hasn't made much difference yet as all my clothes are still too tight and uncomfortable. I think it's come off the roll of flab between my boobs and belly as that feels smaller so maybe I was a lot more bloated than I'd realised.

I'm still hungry most of the time but I did my first WFH day yesterday and I didn't snack at all. Usually my desk would be full of crisps and chocolate.

NextPrimeMinister · 28/02/2024 08:23

Well done to pp for great first week results! Onwards and downwards!

Great news!

Amazing first week results! 👏

MuthaHubbard · 28/02/2024 09:16

Well done @PissedOffNeighbour22 and @Thebaldprimadonna.

So my stomach has literally just rumbled for the first time since injection on Saturday so will have some breakfast. But even then I'm not 'starving'. Have others found effects easing off a little as they go through the week? (Day 5)

ObsidianTree · 28/02/2024 09:19

Well done @Thebaldprimadonna @PissedOffNeighbour22! Great first week losses :)

That's interesting about sleep @Thebaldprimadonna. I am finding this too. I am sleeping under 6 hours a night now and seem to not feel tired until later and wake up earlier. Didn't realise murnjaro might be causing this.

I have muscular pain in my hip and glutes, on the same side of my body as the injection site. Started 3 hours after injection and has got worse. Not listed in possible side effects- coincidence? Kinda reminds me of the aching arm after COVID vaccine

Do you think it must be the change in glucose levels? I was a whisper below diabetes for my last Hba1c. I can almost feel my body going "Thank you. This is how I am meant to work."
