I have decided to start with Mourjano. Have put an order in with Asda and should hopefully be delivered soon!

Anyone else going to give Mourjano a go?

@pallyloo there are 13 cancers attributed to being obese, so have decided to reduce my odds...

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 26/02/2024 20:12

I just applied for Wegovy today via Chemist4U but it's still at processing stage. I'm now wondering if I should try and cancel and try Mounjaro instead. There doesn't appear to be an option to cancel.

TitsInAbsentia · 26/02/2024 21:11

I've ordered from Bolt. It says dispatched but frustratingly no tracking details there, and I really want to be home when it arrives because well, who wants nearly £200 of stuff left on the doorstep....and yes, of course I'm keen to get started!

dan1970 · 26/02/2024 21:30

My first dose is 2.5, any tips for a new starter (first time) for any medication ?

dan1970 · 26/02/2024 21:32

I am just trying to eat healthier, track my food and see how it goes. Adding in walking and light weights. I am using juniper app which seems good. I am trying to make all positive changes, alongside the medication. Fingers crossed

FlappyFish · 26/02/2024 22:08

I didn’t try wegovy as it wasn’t available. Did some research and Mounjaro was and, based on the research, seemed to provide better results.

My tips so far. Make yourself eat. I haven’t wanted to. No appetite at all. I haven’t even got light headed, presumably due to how it’s doing something to my blood sugar.

Drink water. As much as you can. It hasn’t affected my thirst, but drinking lots helps the constipation.

Which leads on to my final tip. Get some laxatives. As I’m not eating a lot I am not able to go to the loo. I need something to help.

I am not a doctor. Just my experience nine days in.

I am no longer obese. Ok, it’s 29.9. But I’m now overweight instead. Whoot.

RunningAndSinging · 26/02/2024 22:13

are the needles the same for Mounjaro as they are for Ozempic and Wegovy?

yes they are fortunately.

I had a good online WW session, I hope it will motivate me a bit more. They suggest you eat plenty of protein, fruit and vegetables, drink plenty of water and exercise. Perhaps not rocket science but maybe good for a bit of accountability.

I will see if I can find the reassuring thing I read about Thyroid cancer when I started Ozempic.

RunningAndSinging · 26/02/2024 22:19

And well done FlappyFish with your BMI milestone already!

They’re usually pretty fast to respond on the live chat feature. I would try asking them on there.

What are the prices like at Superdrug? I get ten per cent off at boots as I've previously bought weight loss injections.

I ordered late at night last Thursday, it was despatched on Friday and then delivered on Saturday.

I am a bit ahead of you all, as I am in the US. I started on 12 January to treat my type 2 diabetes as my sugars have got completely out of whack. Obviously any weight loss will help with improving my sugar levels and controlling them in the longer run.

I do my jabs on Friday evening so I have the weekend to get used to new doses and side effects. To date, it is not too bad - just a little nausea on the first couple of days. I am on the 5.0 dose for one more injection. I have called it my liquid willpower, as I have not stayed on a diet or eating plan this consistently for 6 weeks without feeling like I am missing out on something.

I am tracking my food in MFP and I decided to cut back on empty carbs as I know if I can reduce inflammation I feel so much better. So I am focusing on protein as well. I have also restarted a gym habit - mainly yoga and adding in a weights routine, and increasing my steps every day as well.

I am taking a multivitamin, a broad spectrum magnesium, vitamin d and a probiotic every day, as well as my collagen ('cause I am old).

To date I have lost just over 10lbs, so I am not a super loser, but it has been pretty consistent around 1.5lbs a week. Also, my blood pressure has already come down significantly. The hardest part to deal with so far is the strange way that on random days, with no rhyme or reason, I can be ravenous. I try to eat something simple, like a bit of cheese or some nuts, and drink more water.

I never considered other drugs, because I am really looking for the help with my type 2 diabetes. My Dr is pretty happy with my progress so far, and has just agreed to move me to the 7.5 dose next. We will do my next blood sugar test in mid April and see what effect it has had.

Welcome @spamm 🙏

I'm day 5 and have woken up really hungry 😩

The nausea seems to have passed, which is great.

I've had a small breakfast and will try to only snack on fruit. Need to buy some nuts!

1stTimeMummy2021 · 27/02/2024 07:56

@spamm Are you aiming for a certain amount of calories or a calorie deficit each day? I'm tracking using MFP as well, but not really sure what I'm aiming for. Thanks.

I paid £219 and I had to go and collect it (20 miles), which is why I am switching to an online pharmacy for month two. I'd imagined it was a one-off check for the first month, but it appears that they are only doing pick up.

ObsidianTree · 27/02/2024 08:57

Welcome to all the newbies :) good luck with your journey.

@AccidentallyWesAnderson you can see if they have a call line to try and call and cancel your order?

End of week one and I’m down 3lb. That’s a decent start for me.

i think I’ve lost more weight, actually but the constipation is significant, probably carrying half a stone in my bowel. I’m going to the chemist today…

im trying hard not to be gutted that I’ve not lost 12lb like some have. If I’d been exercising and lost 3lb I’d have been delighted.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 27/02/2024 09:43

They are going to cancel my Wegovy order so that I can put in for Mourjano so fingers crossed I get approved for that and I can join you all soon!

Scalessayeek · 27/02/2024 10:22

Can I join?! I ordered Friday and it’s arrived today, felt like Christmas and I’ve dosed up already.

I’m a lot heavier then most, in truth I’d probably need to lose about 9 stone to have a truly healthy weight but I’ve not weighed that since I was about 12 🫣

I’m hoping to lose about 4.5 stone and thinking this will take about 12-18 months if I can stick to it and afford it. BMI currently 42.7 😫

spamm · 27/02/2024 10:26

@1stTimeMummy2021 - I am aiming at around 1400, just to have some sort of goal as I get used to things, but I am not religiously sticking to it. When I have exercised I just try to stay in deficit. And I also make sure I eat enough to not be hungry and to not miss out on nutrients. I have heard horror stories about hair loss and muscle loss, and at 54 I do not want to add those issues to my challenges.

Also, for me, this is a long term journey as I need to keep my blood sugar under control, so I want it to be sustainable and not get bored and let bad habits creep back in.

SocksShmocks · 27/02/2024 10:48

I am feeling frustrated that my order isn’t ready to collect from Boots yet. I called the branch today and it’s not in yet. I applied on Friday, approved by pharmacist on Saturday, so I know it’s not long but I’m in the office the next 2 days so earliest I’d be able to collect is Friday. And I’m keen to join the rest of you and get started.

shall have to live vicariously until then.

Thanks for that, messaged them last night and they said there was a delay as the delivery from Lilly hadn't come in, but should be in today or tomorrow...fingers crossed! I'm guessing supply issues will hit across the board until they have a good idea of demand.

FlappyFish · 27/02/2024 11:22

Great start @stealtheatingtunnocks and I’m with you on the half a stone of constipation. Taking a couple of laxatives each night is now doing nothing. In desperation I’m now taking a lot more to get some movement. Yes, maybe bad. But the last thing I want is to end up with compaction, which seems very real at the moment.

Of course you can join us!

Good luck those trying to get their orders. I messaged Asda this morning as when I went to reorder it only gives you 2.5 and I want to move up. No way to select that. Anyone had any joy with that yet with Asda?

ObsidianTree · 27/02/2024 11:35

I hear you all about the constipation! Haven't gone for a few days and feeling a bit bunged up. I've been taking magnesium citrate and started taking psylum husks, but nothing moving so far! Might need some stronger stuff it things don't get moving soon!
