Hello! We're getting married next August.

So far we've booked:

  • Venue (and registrar!)
  • Florist
  • Photographer

Really need to get on booking a DJ or band, but can't decide what we want and Google just feels overwhelming. Any tips on where to look??

Also I was definitely in the camp of "we don't need to spend much, it's all about the people"... but actually it turns out more people = more expensive. Who knew! 😂

I would love to have a 140 guests we’re at 310 guests. Both of us come from massive close knit families So there is no way of cutting it down.

we’re getting married on a Monday in August so hoping a few people will say no. 😂

We are August 2024, second time for us both so super small with max 40 guests. Just ceremony and dinner really! So relatively cheap but do have a fairly posh venue.
So far booked venue and registrar and photographer. Need to organise florist soon.
Tried on some dresses last week but thinking might do Vinted or high street.

Not sure whether to do own make up or get someone in - how did you all choose who to use? Some of them are ££ after trials (plus hair)!

31st May 2024 here!

Have booked venue + catering, dress chosen, florist & cake all sorted
Close to booking photographer and dithering on whether to have a videographer

We're going with a small ceremony of 40-50 and 80-90 in total for evening

I'm excited but feeling overwhelmed with how much there is to plan and organise and how the time is going to fly by 😅

We got engaged last Friday and are thinking June/July 2024. We're both history lovers and I want to have it at a mining museum which is close to us. We want to keep the costs as low as possible with max 70 guests all in. Its a charity so low cost, potentially, to host but their marquees are dirty/marked so would need heavily draping which looks spenny, and their tables and chairs are really scruffy so I'd need to hire some. Not sure if next year is too ambitious!

I wish we had done it in a year! Now I keep adding shite on 🤣

It is doable but start booking things tomorrow!

Wedding booked, very low key, just us and our 2 adult kids as witnesses, no big do after, just returning home. It's about tying the knot for us, that's all, we've wanted to get married for years, but can't afford a big wedding, so doing it this way, it will be lovely, I'll be his wife

@Fizzysister I definitely think it's doable in a year! I guess you may have to make some compromises on vendors... but I reckon most people do to some extent due to budget etc.

Does everyone have a clear theme or colour scheme in mind? I've not really thought it through at all - even though every wedding planning list I see suggests that's one of the first things to consider.

Currently starting to think about decoration beyond the venue... and not so confident on my original belief that we don't need centrepieces!
