We get married sept 2024

Anymore 2024 brides! Where are you with your planning

OP posts:
Abigailandthefoxes · 18/07/2023 21:38

We’re getting married in a barn so keeping it rustic, long tables, lots of greenery and candles to try and keep costs down in terms of decorations.

Bluelightbaby · 19/07/2023 23:07

My colour theme is white and dark green. Very rustic/woodland type theme as ceremony is in a woodland :)

SprinkleRainbow · 19/07/2023 23:12

Summer 24 for us!
So far have a venue, MUA, one of the big entertainment things we wanted, the printers for invitations and that's it!
Feels like too much to plan!
However my Shein basket is rammed with wedding stuff.
Bridesmaids I won't buy til next year and after multiple trips dress shopping - can't find a dress I even remotely like 😬

Abigailandthefoxes · 23/07/2023 09:36

My dress appt is booked for October (excited). Florist, photographer, DJ, MUA and caterer are all selected just waiting for contracts and finalised quotes.

we went through the guest list on Friday with a fine tooth comb and took a lot of people off and possibly controversially took all kids off under 12 for friends (we had 60 kids on the list).

I’ve got a sub headed shopping list of all the small things I need to buy.

weddingwaiting · 23/07/2023 10:53

March 24 for me and freaking out slightly that I still feel like my wedding is ages away (booked last July) but it’s actually before everyone else’s on this thread and you have all done so much!

We have booked a package at the venue, photographer, registrar, string quartet, transport. Meeting with a florist this week and I have bought my dress. Fiancé has just ordered stuff for the ushers to wear and I have asked my bridesmaids to order any dress in a specific colour.

Ordering our invitations next month to go out in September 😬

newyorkinthefall · 27/07/2023 09:28

March 2024 for us!

We've decided to just slip off quietly and do it just the two of us.

So far we have:
Booked the venue (Edinburgh City Chambers)
Booked the hotel for night of wedding and night before
Bought my shoes - I've gone for silver glittery Kate Spade trainers as heels kill me and I want to be comfortable

We don't want any of the hassle of a big do but still want it to be special

mrsneate · 28/07/2023 13:34

We went and saw our wedding singer live this week. Very pleased with our choice!

Also put deposit down on suits. 7 suits just over £1k renting!

The £££ is mounting up!

We're getting married in September 24! Booked the venue, celebrant, photographer, entertainment and cake maker so far, and also the registry office for the legal bit the day before.

That said we got an email a couple of weeks ago that the venue was in administration but they're hoping to find a buyer, so planning has ground to a halt until we find out more about what's happening there... I could do without the stress so early on!

Abigailandthefoxes · 29/07/2023 15:11

had my first and hopefully only wedding cry yesterday I’ve seen the dress I want to try on the catch is the nearest place I can try it on is five hours away on the train.

The bridal shop I’m going to are approaching the designer to see if they can have a sample loaned to them

Elspeth7 · 04/08/2023 15:09

25th July here! Venue booked, got a package which includes a choice of band, florist, photographer and cake so those things are all booked too although we'll have to meet with them in January to go over what exactly we want. I'm in the midst of dress shopping which is hard!

Elspeth7 · 04/08/2023 15:11

Wow that's a lot for the suits! I haven't started looking at those yet but I wasn't expecting that price. We'll need 6 or possibly 7 too.

newyorkinthefall · 09/08/2023 04:28

I’m bored on the nightshift tonight so I had a look on Asos and have bought 2 dresses 😱 there’s currently 20% off and they’ll be super easy to get a refund if one / both don’t suit so why not?!

moleeye · 09/08/2023 05:45

Me, me!

Getting married 7 sept next year. Got engaged last year.

So far have booked:

Registry office
Reception Venue (they cater so sorted)
Cake
Photographer
Videographer
Florist
Double decker bus to transport everyone from ceremony to reception
Wedding dress
DJ

We are having about 85 people for the day. Not sure yet if we are inviting anyone for the evening, still tbc

Loads left to do. Once the summer is over I'm getting back on the case!

moleeye · 09/08/2023 07:29

Oh I've also booked my MUA and had a trial as I'm fussy about my makeup so I wanted to make sure I liked it. Will book another trial nearer the time

Hair stylist sorted
Hotel booked for the bridal party to get ready

OH doesn't want a nest man or any groomsmen so our 5 year old will stand up there with him in a 'mini me' suit

Have my sister as MOH, my daughter and niece as junior bridesmaids and my other niece as flower girl so I'm hoping dresses won't cost too much

Dresses for you? Or bridesmaids?

skinnytobe · 09/08/2023 10:31

Our venue only allows one venue dresser.

I made an appt yesterday and we travelled 45 mins each way to see their show room. In the hope that they had things set up because the whole decorating is overwhelming me.

We were there 7 mins. They failed to tell us they were Renovating so not much was out. So annoyed

JustAnotherManicMomday · 12/08/2023 20:12

24.08.24 only taken 15 years two kids and a mortgage but were finally planning a wedding. Although future mil does not seem to understand we want simple.my nieces are flower girls, the now wants dps niece included(for context she will be barely four and our own children were not invited to bil in questions wedding when other people's children were invited). Any way I agreed to agreed to add her changing the dresses in the end because doesn't come small enough for her. Now she keeps babging on about not having artificial flowers as they must be real as the smell better. The problem is I have serious hay-fever. Plus were on a small budget so don't want to pay a fortune to the florist for bouquets and Centre pieces to go in the marque.

Any advice on low-cost flowers in pink and white that won't leave a bride puffy eyed to stop the lovely future mil turning into the monster in law?

JustAnotherManicMomday · 12/08/2023 20:21

Registry office booked
Dj booked-thankfully we have 3 in the family so it's bil to be's wedding gift.
Ice-cream van booked
Marque at a local venue booked
Off to wed2b to try dresses next week so excited for that.
Been to see cake lady. Just need to decide on the cake.
Flowers- artificial? Real? Cost?
Decide on if we have buffet with the pizza van for evening.
Bouncy castle for kids sorted.
Activity packs to sort for younger kids

Dresses for you? Or bridesmaids?

For me! Unfortunately they have been sent back as I had ordered them to be delivered to the InPost lockers as I knew I wouldn't be home but I didn't realise the boxes would be too big.

We paid the deposit for our photographer yesterday and had a quick Facetime call with her. She's going to have some of our pictures available for us on the same day so we will have something to show our families as they won't be at the wedding.

Have a look at the flowers on jjs house!

skinnytobe · 13/08/2023 17:30

I'm torn on flowers. Or was. I didn't even take into consideration my hay fever so now going for artificial!

Nochoiceleft · 14/08/2023 17:59

I’ve just booked mine for May next year. Just a registry office and four guests but am looking forward to it.

Elspeth7 · 14/08/2023 23:59

Has anybody any good advice on where to get nice bridal shoes? I know I'm a bit early but I figure this may be the time to get sandals for next year before all the winter stock comes in. My problem is that my fiancé isnt much taller than me so I need heels that are 6.5 or 7cm. All the ones I see are 8 or 9, which actually I love but he doesn't want me towering over him on our wedding day. (On other occasions he don't mind). I've seen nice ones on the Charlotte Mills website but they're expensive, circa £250-300. I'll only pay that if I really have to!

Onceuponaheartache · 15/08/2023 00:11

Can I join in please?

We get married in August 2024, we have booked;
Venue (dj is included)
Registrar
Photographer
Dress alteration lady

Flowers are sorted and sitting on top of my wardrobe (silk) along with button holes and corsages for the bridesmaids.

Have bought my dress and dd's. Bridesmaids are still making final decision on which dress they like. We are also looking at ever pretty, @mrsneate how did you find them in terms of being true to size? You have a similar dress to the one I like (although we are going for navy)

Not first time for either of us, but the first time we haven't had to try and do it on a shoestring budget thanks to an inheritance so loving being able to actually have what I want.

Has anyone found a decent wedding website platform at all?

Ever pretty definitely size up! I'm a 12/14 and fitted in the 16 :) but also look for them through shein. Same dress, half the price!

I've set up our website on "with joy" it was pretty easy to navigate and options to pay for a simple web address. Which I'll do once I'm ready for invites to go out
