Anymore 2024 brides! Where are you with your planning

OP posts:

I'm July but no, I have no idea about a first dance song yet. There are so many decisions to be made aren't there?! 🙄

garlictwist · 01/02/2024 20:58

Me! Got engaged in the new year. Getting married in October. Booked the reg office and venue for the do and decided who we are inviting and that's it so far. I don't feel like there is masses more to do but perhaps I'm naive.

burntoutnurse · 02/02/2024 01:41

Panic setting in yet? Like me?

Ordered wedding invites two weeks ago. Paid a pretty big price for them, for them to arrive with a misprint on them ALL. Jan has been quite horrific for my family tbh so wedding stuff has been on the back burner and the invites were supposed to spur me on! It just made me cry LOL

I've put together my bridesmaid gift bags. I've been buying stuff for them bit by bit, I've made my appt to collect my dress in July, we did suits in dec all paid for in full. DP is back away at sea now until April, but this weeks to do list for me is

Book appt for notice of marriage
Send driving licence off for address change (we moved in the summer)

Book mini bus for my hen.

I've started a skin rouitne, and back on my healthy eating/walking plan, which I'm trying so hard to stick to but my dog is poorly and needs to be crated and hates it so I'm not getting much sleep,

I also need a nice lottery win Grin

weddingwaiting · 02/02/2024 08:16

As of this morning my wedding is in 8 weeks! My hen do is tomorrow and I have a thumping headache ☹️

A good friend of mine from university messaged today saying that he wouldn’t be able to make the wedding after all. He had a decent reason (he is a freelancer and received an amazing work opportunity that he would be pretty silly to say no to) but it still stings.

Deucebumps · 02/02/2024 19:35

Did anyone put a deadline on invites for RSVPs to be returned by? If so how far ahead of the wedding was the deadline, and if not, at what point should we 'nudge' people to confirm? Save the dates were sent in Nov, wedding is early Sept but 90% of people will need to book accommodation so we want to get full invites sent ASAP....

Tisfortired · 02/02/2024 19:45

We are 8th June 2024 😊 and only decided to finally do it about a fortnight ago, after 15 years and 2 kids together!

We are keeping it simple and small in the day and having a lovely family family holiday 2 days after the wedding instead.

There are only 22 people including us but having it at quite a posh venue in their smallest room.

Ceremony and registrar booked
Venue booked and we are staying the night there also

I am getting my dress from Rixo
No florist, just buying a bouquet and a button hole for DP
No official photographer

We are looking at rings on Monday and need to organise transport. I have been putting getting married off for years because I couldn’t be bothered with the hassle but I’m actually really enjoying it and looking forward to it which is surprised about 😃

StStephensTower · 03/02/2024 14:12

@Deucebumps could you check what deadline the venue needs for menu choices? I would think that would determine when you need RSVP's by (perhaps add a week or two in case)
The menu at our venue isn't being updated until mid Feb so I think we are going to wait to organise invites until we have tasted (wedding August)

moleeye · 04/02/2024 05:01

@StStephensTower similar position here, wedding isn't until 7 Sept, we've got food tasting booked in for 5 March.

After that I'll send out the invites (have mocked them up already) everyone can then rsvp online and choose their food.

I want all that in my end of May so it's all sorted.

Ive done a fair bit this month actually and every time I think I've got a handle on it I remember more things to add to the list!

We're doing a BBQ platter type thing so we just need to know about allergies/veggie/vegan and the venue will arrange separate food. I think they need to know 3-6 weeks before. But tbh I'm anxious about people declining due to having to travel/hotel costs and so on so I'd rather know sooner rather than later if it's a no!

Thrivenotsurvive · 06/02/2024 13:26

We got engaged at Christmas and booked our wedding yesterday - 12th October 2024 👏🏻

So far we have booked the registry office and we have our reception venue, which has links to catering and DJ so that’s covered too.

Today I’ve put out enquiries about photography prices - some of them are eye watering!

We’re just doing registry for a small number of guests at 3pm and then on to our reception venue for a party with extra guests.

I already have my dress so not sure what else I can sort for a while, might be a bit naive though 😂

weddingwaiting · 06/02/2024 16:55

Heard back from my caterer today and we have a menu!

You're right about photography prices 🥴 what have you been quoted? We spoke to quite a few photographers and the price varies so much!

The one we've booked is £1,400 which is alot to me but reasonable compared with some we spoke to!

I've put 21st May on my invites and given guests three ways to rsvp hoping this will minimise the chasing I have to do!

Fuzzynavelgazer · 07/02/2024 16:44

Oooo can I join please. I got engaged in November and the wedding is all booked for 26/10/24. Its going to be a dark, gothicy Halloweeny affair.

So far I have organised....
Venue
Dress
Grooms suit
Bridesmaid dresses
Invitations (not sent though)
Catering
Bar
Band
Flowers
An order of 100 x pumpkins
Shed loads of decor either handmade or from Shein.
Honeymoon

I'm finding it all a little overwhelming. There seems to be so much to do and I don't know what order I should be doing things so I'm trying to sort them all out at once.
I have to admit that I've had to hand the reins over to the other half before I go completely mad. He seems to enjoy the organising so I can leave him to the remainder for the time being.

@Haylestormz the photographer we've booked looks amazing, he came recommended to us by our friends. He charges £1500 which I think is an absolute bargain, some of the quotes were so expensive.

I've booked a videographer for half the day as well, one he's worked with before and he recommended (after I asked as everyone else was also so pricey!).

Have had my makeup trial and hair trial is booked for next month!

Welcome to the thread.

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed atm too (ours is 22/09/2024) but it seems to be coming round fast. It's the paying for everything that's stressing me a bit. I'm working overtime, so I'm tired, but also trying to fit in wedding stuff, and a skin care routine, and a diet (not going well Grin)

It'll be here before we know it!

burntoutnurse · 11/02/2024 11:47

My latest stress is invites!

Avoid zazzle! I've had an absolute nightmare and it started at the beginning of Jan! I've had so many refunds/credits to my accounts and they've got it wrong every single time!

I took to canva last week and designed them and have had them printed myself' they should arrive tomorrow, however Amazon left my parcel with the vellum wraps in outside in the rain yesterday so they were ruined! I'm half tempted to just do an Facebook event at this point 😂

Deucebumps · 18/03/2024 21:58

Invites went out two weeks ago and we've already had half back which is a relief. I've started having really bizarre wedding related dreams nearly every night since we hit the six month countdown, still so much to sort out but also a lot of stuff that's out of my direct control which I think is triggering the stress dreams! How is everyone else getting on?

MessyNeate · 19/03/2024 01:14

Also having the wedding induced nightmares too,

Plus I've had two vendors cancel on me this month.

Issues with the printing of some personalised stuff.

6 months to go on Friday!

I've also changed my bridesmaid dresses this week 🙈

weddingwaiting · 19/03/2024 06:16

My wedding is now officially next week!! I finish on Friday for 3 weeks and I just want to be done with it now so I can enjoy wedding fun time. Definitely starting to feel nervous!

Pleased I'm not the only nervous one right now. Mines Easter Sunday so similar time to yours.
Panicking as I feel I've forgotten something but I just keep thinking the day will still happen without it 😂
Hope it all runs smoothly 👰

Elspeth7 · 19/03/2024 07:23

Yep I'm not having nightmares but I go through bouts of anxiety with it all for sure! My latest stress is invites. The company we were recommended quoted us £915 for invites (day and evening), orders of service, name place cards and a welcome sign! Crazy money. So we said no to that and now my bro in law is making them for us. So that's great and affordable, I just hope he gets them ready in decent time! 4 months to go here...

weddingwaiting · 19/03/2024 14:05

@chloe5194 yep I’m a Good Friday bride. We booked our wedding in July 2022 and it felt like it was so far away it would never come around…well it has!

EagerTurtle · 20/03/2024 21:06

I can see that I'm not the only one getting anxious.. My problem is that when I was mentally planning the guest list in my head I estimated that we would have around 60 guests. However, when we decided to formalize the guest list (we created a list on Eventioo.com) the numbers shocked me.. It turns out that we're looking at a MINIMUM 106 guests.. Crazy, right? Now I'm freaking out about the potential costs. Everything from catering to venue accommodations seems like it's going to stretch our budget beyond its limits.
