I'm getting married in March - just for fun would love to hear from other 2019 brides.
I've been a lurker for a while but first time posting.

If your wedding's soon, how do you feel? Does it feel real yet?
What are you nervous about?

Best wishes to everyone getting married! Grin

I've started listening to the Bridechilla podcast and I'm hoping I will be a Bridechilla instead of a Bridezilla Grin

Less than a month for me now. We’re getting hitched on April 19th. I’m still trying to lock down hair and makeup. I’m going to buy my ring tomorrow.

tanitani · 28/03/2019 07:34

@MoHunter the panic is real! My body did crazy things out of stress.

@CurbsideProphet we had a lovely day! Everyone said they had fun and it was very “us”.
Some things may go wrong but a lot of it doesn’t matter on the day.

It’s true that you don’t get to eat!!! If close friends ask to take pictures say yes, and then ask them to stay a bit longer to guard you whilst you eat haha.
That’s my recommendation Grin

3 weeks tomorrow for me!
Everything is pretty much sorted, just need to get DP a shirt and we're done. Got his suit and our rings earlier this week.
Didn't take any pictures of me wearing the dress in case DP saw them and didn't want to spoil the surprise, got it a few months ago.
Doing my own hair and makeup so that makes life easier!

That's a beautiful dress Smile

Just sent out my wedding invitations yesterday Grin so much writing, 54 daytime invitations and over 200 evening invitations, so glad to get it out of the way! Altho I’m now worrying slightly as we’ve only out our first names on the evening invitations... but then, if they’re friendly enough to be invited they should be able to piece it together from our names and where we live.. I hope 😂

CurbsideProphet · 19/04/2019 17:13

We've just sent invites too - not that many!

northernstars · 19/04/2019 17:36

We just sent our invitations last week - all 19 of them!

Isth · 21/04/2019 15:13

It just seems to be getting bigger and bigger 😂 had another 30 evening invitations printed the other day. We’re very lucky, and have the run of our farm and have bought a bloody massive marquee... but still Grin

icanthelpyou · 24/04/2019 20:02

Our May date is ticking around. We had a last minute handful of people book so there's now 25 of us heading to Cyprus.

Suits have been bought, still got to get some shoes. My final dress fitting is in a couple of weeks 😬

CurbsideProphet · 27/04/2019 22:28

I'm having a little wobble about my dress Blush I think it's because I bought it in a sale at the end of last year and my wedding isn't until this autumn, so it feels like a long time until I will see it again (August for fittings). Plus I wasn't wearing the right shoes on the day and don't have any good photos.

The dress and lace top were on sale, so I bought them that day and didn't go away to think about it etc. Everyone is surprised I bought a dress on my first time trying on dresses (tried on 6 that day), so that puts me on edge.

Gaaah it's so silly, as I don't even believe in there being one perfect dress etc Blush Confused

northernstars · 01/05/2019 14:26

I'm getting married in August and having a nightmare with dresses. I bought a plain one to customise, then got cold feet and received a different dress from ASOS yesterday. I'll have to make a decision on that in a few weeks. Just can't find anything I'm happy with.

Polarbearflavour · 01/05/2019 17:09

Meeeeeee...in October! I’m having a military wedding with uniforms, the sword arch etc and getting married in a military chapel with reception in the wardroom!

tanitani · 04/05/2019 13:45

Just checking in Smile

@CurbsideProphet I think it's normal to wobble over the dress. I didn't but thousands of women do - it's an important dress after all.
Can you book an earlier fitting just for reassurance?

@northerstars What kind of styles did you like?

@Polarbearflavour that sounds so exciting! Is DP in the military, or yourself?

SheWoreBlueVelvet · 04/05/2019 16:33

Curbside I wouldn’t worry. Do other people like it?
I went with a dress I had mixed views on. The top half was beaded and it was also the first dress in the shop I saw that I thought “ wow”. Not so keen on the skirt, But both my mum and MoH absolutely loved it so I trusted them

The dress I thought I would wear (bought it online) everyone thought was too boring. Which was odd because I thought I looked the business!

They were right though because everyone commented that the dress was perfect for the wedding and fitted me really well etc.
There’s too much choice I think. Drives you potty.

CurbsideProphet · 04/05/2019 21:35

Thank you @tanitani and @SheWoreBlueVelvet Smile

I didn't have the crying that other women have told me they had when they found THE dress. I think that has made me doubt myself, like I'm doing this bride thing wrong Blush

I'm also having a wobble about venue. We didn't want to travel miles and miles, as it would make organising tricky. We've picked a hotel that holds weddings practically every week all year round and has done for over 30 years. The staff are great and the food is excellent. However, it sounds so ridiculous, but I'm now worried that the red carpets and dark panelling will make it look like a pokey pub function room Blush Blush I love old buildings and high ceilings, but we wouldn't be able to afford that and would have had to travel a long way to find it.

I'm sure it will all be fine and we'll have a lovely day. I just needed to get that off my chest Blush

tanitani · 05/05/2019 11:00

@CurbsideProphet I think that’s half the battle - just being able to say it somewhere probably helps.

If it helps, I didn’t have the crying moment either! It was honestly “Yeah this one’s really pretty! Price is good.....lace..... okay let’s go with this one”.

I didn’t cry, neither did MIL or SIL haha. There’s so much build up to one day, it’s natural to question it I think.

DP is military. Only having a small wedding though - about 30 guests.

You are all looking at dresses - I haven’t even started yet! Should I be as it’s 5 months away?! Blush

tanitani · 05/05/2019 14:18

@Polarbearflavour

It depends what kind of dress you want but after choosing mine it took 3 months to order and we did a final fitting.
It’s the ordering of the dress (making) and any changes that need doing after your fitting that take time - so if you want to get a usual bridal store dress than I would at least visit your local stores and ask what they recommend. Smile

Isth · 05/05/2019 14:25

Depends really @polarbearflavour I ordered mine in January and it’s not in yet, expected in at the end of this month/start of next. that was a partially bespoke dress tho, made to order.

CurbsideProphet · 05/05/2019 17:11

@Polarbearflavour I bought a sample dress in December that was on sale. Wedding is in October. I hadn't intended to buy a dress 10 months before, but I was lucky I knew about a sale and I didn't feel desperate for a bespoke dress Smile

Mummyme87 · 05/05/2019 17:22

Yep depends on what kind of dress you’re going for. I just ordered my dress a month a go for an April 2020 wedding. Will be ready 4-6weeks before the wedding. First measurements in 6weeks time

MintToBee · 05/05/2019 17:30

I'm getting married exactly 4 weeks today!!! I'm having a love hate relationship with my dress which is gorgeous but I've lost a stone and until I have it fitted next week I dont "get" it I actually panic bought another one Wednesday which I absolutely love...
We are secretly eloping so I don't have anyone to tell me which one looks best.
I'm trying not to panic about it all!

Polarbearflavour · 05/05/2019 20:29

I feel as though I need to get a move on!

Isth · 05/05/2019 22:19

I’ve finally been to see my band play tonight, and they’re just as good as their videos!! So, so happy! We were so picky as we didn’t want anything cheesy like Ed sheeran etc, and they do a really cool mix of rock and indie type covers.
