I'm getting married in March - just for fun would love to hear from other 2019 brides.
I've been a lurker for a while but first time posting.

If your wedding's soon, how do you feel? Does it feel real yet?
What are you nervous about?

Best wishes to everyone getting married! Grin

@littledinosaurs
I'm sure people will turn up! We've just had the last rsvp's so I'm starting to breathe again now! Your day sounds really lovely.
@Lucisky thank you for the advice written here Smile I hope you enjoy your lovely day!
@Hermie12 That sounds lovely! I have spreadsheets too! They really do help don't they Grin
@Lonecatwithkitten Congratulations! What did you decide to wear?

argh I fell off the page!

tanitani There are us 2 and 2 friends heading to Vegas 2 weeks today eek! then we come home after 5 nights and are having a party here for family. Ds is staying at home too, so honeymoon and wedding in one really.l

Luckily his chicken pox have all cleared so we are on track for everything now I think.

LOVE those wedding nails, hope you had the best day!

littledinosaurs · 04/02/2019 19:54

@tanitani people are rsvping!! Phew haha :) Are you getting married at the end of March by any chance? My friend is getting married on the 30th and has toned down her honeymoon because of brexit just in case. Hope it's not affecting you.

@Lucisky :) you both sound lovely.

tanitani · 05/02/2019 00:37

@littledinosaurs Hooray!
Actually we don't live in the UK, or even Europe, so far away from the madness! Won't be going on the honeymoon till right at the end of the year though. My wedding is 23rd March. __

@QforCucumber Ahhh that sounds great!!
Glad it's coming together.

@tanitani this is basic design, but changes to sleeves and colour. You can't tell from the photo, but it is quite heavily beaded.

Is anyone else having to contend with other people's opinions on various things? My DM has started wading in with what she thinks we should do about table decorations, even though I have already said that our florist has given us some good ideas and we know what we're doing. She has a tendency to be quite negative and I can't take another 8 months of this Blush Angry

QforCucumber · 05/02/2019 09:41

@curbsideprophet YES! As we are getting married abroad and having a party at home everything is quite informal, however Dp's brother last night started telling him how nice it would be for the nieces and nephews to all match in matching suits and dresses like page boys and bridesmaids and that we should really consider this for symmetry in photos!

ITS IN 2 WEEKS!!!!!!!

Collected dress from seamstress - she is amazing, turned my size 14 dress into a slim 10 and you'd have no idea - i think I love her.

tanitani · 05/02/2019 10:24

@Lonecatwithkitten That's beautiful! Did you decide to take the sleeves out?

@QforCucumber Oh goodness - two weeks and they want to make changes? Hope it all works out as stress-free as possible!
@CurbsideProphet hang in there Blush

CurbsideProphet · 05/02/2019 17:00

On the plus side QforCucumber at least you've only got 2 weeks of that meddling! He's not seriously expecting you to rush out and buy matching outfits for all the children in the family? With 2 weeks to go?!

Thanks tanitani I'm not asking for DM's help or opinions, so I don't know why this has started!

Lonecatwithkitten · 05/02/2019 18:28

@tanitani no actually make the sleeves slightly longer, as a kate forties bride I have bat wings that need hiding. I have also changed the base colour.

tanitani · 08/02/2019 00:04

@CurbsideProphet
Sometimes I think everyone seems to think it’s a family event so everyone should have some input. It’s your day - stand firm! Smile

@Lonecatwithkitten I see! That sounds really nice - I went with sleeves too.

CurbsideProphet · 13/02/2019 15:06

I will thank you @tanitani Smile
I definitely won't be agreeing to make all of my decorations myself. Surely it's more wasteful to spend £X on buying glass bowls etc and artificial flowers that I'll need to off load afterwards, when I could spend £X on real flowers and rent glass bowls etc from the florist?

Gaaah must not get drawn into that conversation with DM!!

tanitani · 28/02/2019 10:34

@CurbsideProphet how are you getting on?
And was anyone else slightly shocked at how much flowers cost?Grin

OP posts:
CurbsideProphet · 28/02/2019 11:36

I'm still battling with 'D' M over flowers etc. My florist is quite cheap (£250), as she's on her own and doesn't have a shop / staff to pay for. I'm trying to rise above it!

LIGHTHEARTED:
I'm annoyed by all my relatives getting engaged and having babies - seriously bumped up numbers past our budgeted number for the day!

I feel like I needed to add lighthearted incase someone stumbled into the thread and accused me of putting my relationship above everyone else's Grin

We're going cake tasting soon, which I'm super excited about Cake Smile

Yours is getting close now tanitani!

Mummyme87 · 28/02/2019 12:42

tanitani I knew flowers were more expensive than I would have budgeted for. Brexit isn’t helping either due to flowers coming from
Holland. Although tbf they are fairly labour intensive.
I just got my quote last week 😬

TinkleWinkle13 · 28/02/2019 14:04

Hello, I am getting married too in May. Small do at a registry office then a Party for about 70 in the evening at a pub.

Just got a quote for a cake £255 for 70 guests - does this sound about right? No idea with these things!

CurbsideProphet · 28/02/2019 15:42

TwinkleWinkle13 my cake is a touch cheaper, but I'm in the NW and having a cake from a lady who does it all herself. Cake tasting is what I'm most looking forward to Smile

Mummyme87 · 28/02/2019 16:16

I’m paying £485 for 140 guests including £15 hire charge for cake stand

TinkleWinkle13 · 28/02/2019 16:52

Thanks for the comparison! 140 guests! That is some undertaking... hope planning is going well

CurbsideProphet · 28/02/2019 17:32

We're not having a huge cake to feed everyone, as we're working on the basis that not everyone will bother to have some after they've started drinking Grin

I'm intending on a smaller, beautiful cake (still 3 tiers), with mini cakes / muffins etc on pretty cake stands.

Mummyme87 · 28/02/2019 17:53

twinklewinkle we are inviting 100 adults and 25 childre. Hoping to be enough cake left to take home! We are having marmalade, lemon and elderflower, chocolate and salted caramel ganache, ginger with rhubarb conserve 🤤

tanitani · 01/03/2019 04:10

@CurbsideProphet hang in there!
Oh gosh yes - anyone else's stomach start going crazy as it got closer?
3 weeks and 2 days.....not counting.
I actually had my bridal shower on Sunday - was really lovely.

Flowers....decorations.....I have no idea but have to decide so many things.

@twinklewinkle not long either for you! __

We're having a giant purple pancake as our wedding cake.....it's the dessert the place we're getting married at is famous for.

Rivendale0506 · 24/03/2019 11:21

I'm getting g married this August - we're in our late 50's, small family wedding with posh afternoon tea after and then a big party in the evening. Biggest nightmare is finding something suitable to wear!!! I've got my own thread about my dream dress which sadly is discontinued Hmm am hoping someone, somewhere can either sell me one or find one I can buy! Good luck to all of us 2019 brides!

MoHunter · 24/03/2019 18:43

Oh god just 8 weeks to go till our big day! Panic kicking in! Shock

CurbsideProphet · 26/03/2019 12:20

@tanitani hope you had a lovely day Smile
