I think this is the earliest in the season that we have reached the letter 'I' in the met office naming system. The previous record being Storm Imogen on 8 Feb 2016.
Its certainly been an active season so far.

Amber warnings for wind for some parts, yellow for the rest, with widespread gales possible across the UK. Some fairly worrying flood concerns too where lots of rain will fall during a rapid snow and ice melt onto frozen ground.

Here we go! North Devon here and it's all kicked off in the last 15 min.

EmpressaurusOfTheScathingTinsel · 21/01/2024 14:33

Wind’s starting to pick up in South London.

StuckintheRutt · 21/01/2024 14:33

It's so worrying.

Perfect28 · 21/01/2024 14:46

What do we think schools will do tomorrow?

PickAChew · 21/01/2024 15:11

It will probably depend where they are and how the evening unfolded, @Perfect28

Gusts are getting very strong here, been building up all morning. DH just got in from work and said it was tricky driving conditions. Some silly neighbours have put their bins out for tomorrow's collection. There will be bins and rubbish strewn everywhere by the morning.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 21/01/2024 15:17

It's very rough in Co. Cork and it's still two hours ahead of the amber warning.

GloriaSmud · 21/01/2024 15:22

Perfect28 ~ think it probably depends whereabouts in the country you are. Most of the Amber warnings finish early tomorrow morning but it looks like it could still be a windy day (think there have been yellow warnings issued but it's hard to tell, looking at the warning map at the moment!) for most areas of the country. There could be problems such as trees down, travel disruption, flooded roads for some as well. Perhaps best to wait until the morning and see what the situation is then....

HelpMeGetThrough · 21/01/2024 15:22

Just had a drive around the beaches on the way home and it's looking quite impressive in the bay.

Namechangesab · 21/01/2024 15:22

So Storm Jocelyn is now predicted for Tuesday.

Sorry everyone on behalf of my storm namesake.

Cumulonimbusincus · 21/01/2024 15:22

Getting wild north of the Brecon Beacons now. Raining hard and almost as dark as night, we have all the lights on. Making cakes with DS and DD and listening to the wind howling down the kitchen chimney.

Flensburg · 21/01/2024 15:22

Mid Wales. Strong gusts last couple of hours. Dog (and me!) Very unnerved.

SE Cornwall, some rain, hardly any wind..... Yet!!!

Plump82 · 21/01/2024 15:26

The owner of the flat next door to me is currently living there and has had the windows open (tilt and turn) for weeks if not months. They're currently banging open and shut just now. The noise is unreal and I'm worried they're going to come in!! I don't have any contact details for him either.

South Devon.

Putting the washing out in ten mins. The temp is X2 warmer than yesterday. Live quite high up. Will use more pegs. Exciting that laundry might be quite dry.

This is my life lol

Our washing has been out for an hour or so (NW coast). DH is about to get it in as it'll likely be almost dry and it sounds like it's starting to rain a bit. We don't prop the line up when it's this windy; it does fine as is!

Cumulonimbusincus · 21/01/2024 15:27

Rain suddenly torrential. Will be very surprised if the river doesn’t flood.

Rowgtfc72 · 21/01/2024 15:30

East coast of England. Ridiculously windy now. Is the storm.early?

👋 Hi!

Dragonfly97 · 21/01/2024 15:36

Following. Very wet & windy here in north Shropshire.

Deathbyathousandcats · 21/01/2024 15:38

Starting to get windy here in Warwickshire too

NoWordForFluffy · 21/01/2024 15:41

Definitely ramping up here. Chucking it down now too. The washing was rescued just in time!
