The Met Office have issued a very widespread thunderstorm warning for Sunday. The coverage of the warning reflects uncertainty as to where storms will crop up. Not everywhere will see storms of course.

Main risk: torrential rain.

This weekend marks a transition to unsettled, but generally very warm period, with muggy nights, but temperatures lower than they have been. Further rainy periods and perhaps storms are expected.

Just started raining here along with a few rumbles of thunder.

We've just had a cracking thunderstorm and torrential rain here in Staffordshire. Thunder was very slow moving, it's heading north.

Oh dear, storm’s back again - gone awful dark outside, looks like the beginning of Wizard of Oz.

Thunder and - hurray! - some proper heavy rain in Lancashire. Forecast says the rain should continue, I hope so - too late for some of my crispy plants but I'll swear the lawn is looking a bit happier already.

We had a huge storm in the early hours. Around 4.30am the sky was lit up for ages. Not much thunder but loads of lightning. We're in Sheffield. Raining a little now. Hoping for more!

Heavy rain, thunder and lightning here on Rotherham/Barnsley outskirts. Its lush 😍.

Manchester had insane amounts of torrential rain around an hour ago.

DD2 has had her flight from Inverness to Luton cancelled tonight due to weather. Luckily, she's off tomorrow, so can you come back then, or it would've been a mad rush to try and get her back today.

We've got light rain at the moment which will do nothing in the garden unless it carries on all night. We had one rumble of thunder this afternoon, but nothing since. I'm in the Chilterns, and our local weather man tells us that because we are so high up thunder tends to go around us rather than over.

We've had some good amounts of rain here (Leicester) over the last few hours and looking at the Netweather radar, there might be some more on the way in a bit.

We had a thunderstorm and a huge deluge of rain, incredibly heavy, that went on for quite some time - about half an hour or so? Really will help the garden, and of course now the slugs and snails are out in force.

Pouring with rain here in North Birmingham. Has been for last few hours. Our garden is gasping with relief 😂

I have such fond memories of how it felt to sit indoors and watch that storm!
