The Met Office have issued a very widespread thunderstorm warning for Sunday. The coverage of the warning reflects uncertainty as to where storms will crop up. Not everywhere will see storms of course.

Main risk: torrential rain.

This weekend marks a transition to unsettled, but generally very warm period, with muggy nights, but temperatures lower than they have been. Further rainy periods and perhaps storms are expected.

I should add that although southern coastal areas may not see storms, some areas will see heavy rain.

Sun is shining gloriously here, barely a cloud in the sky. Bit breezy though. (Bradford, West Yorks)

How likely is rain in London, OYBBK?

Pretty likely, though perhaps not everywhere. This area iof rain is moving northwards.

Another weekend, another thunderstorm watch issued.

@OhYouBadBadKitten I’m just slightly north of that band and hoping it does bring rain soon! Bit of a breeze picking up.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2023 14:18

I need to correct it slightly, it's moving more north-eastwards rather than directly northwards.

I'm hoping we'll get rain.

But not thunder as it upsets the dog

justasking111 · 18/06/2023 14:27

Had lunch outdoors in the garden put the umbrella up. Went from sunny/muggy to overcast muggy. Decided to dead head everything until the thunder rumbled down the valley so we finished the job and retreated.

Honestly you could knit a dress with the thickness of the humidity 🥵🥵 it's so oppressive

I’ve got a firm eye on whether the rain hits Ascot or not ahead of the Royal Meeting next week - it’ll have an impact on my betting 😜

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 18/06/2023 14:34

Threatened now 3 times for West Yorkshire but we only had a shirt downpour yesterday. Hope it comes today. There was a big frog in garden today and I felt sorry for it.

We had a friend who did awfully well betting. He'd visit the stables talk to everyone three months ahead then place his bets. Hard ground like this he hates

User565394 · 18/06/2023 14:37

Please let the rain reach the Scottish Borders. I'd love some dramatic weather. We've missed all the weather drama this year so far

TiredandLate · 18/06/2023 14:38

Last Sundays storm caused quite a lot of electrical damage in my village and last night was a cracker too! Hoping we've had our share now (north Manchester)

CaveMum · 18/06/2023 14:39

@justasking111 its not decent racing ground that’s for sure! Ascot have their own live weather station that I’m checking in on. Currently reporting 0.2mm of rain fell last Monday, but no real rain since 15th May. They’re predicted between 3-8mm today, so we will see.

OH that's not good, especially for the horse 🙈

PuppyMonkey · 18/06/2023 15:40

Big rain and thunder again here now - Derbyshire/Notts border.

The rain and storms seem to keep missing us (we are Darwen, Lancashire). I'm really sad as the garden is desperate for water. Hopefully it comes our way today.

CosmosQueen · 18/06/2023 15:48

Absolutely sweet fa on north Wiltshire/south Glos border 🤬
I have never seen my garden so desperately parched.

stillherenow · 18/06/2023 16:00

radar is completely blue over us and has been for an hour and it’s still as dry as a bone here

GloriaSmud · 18/06/2023 16:13

Very muggy here (Leicester) and think something of a stormy nature is about to arrive.

ListenLinda · 18/06/2023 16:25

Rain has arrived it Bradford and it is proper coming down. Almost torrential. Kind of hoping some Thunder is following!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 18/06/2023 16:39

@ListenLinda Bradford here too! I thought I saw lightening a second ago but I think I imagined it. Hope we get it soon.

Lonelycrab · 18/06/2023 16:47

Little bit of rain here in N Hampshire but still not enough to even notice it on the tarmac. Come on rain!

ScottBakula · 18/06/2023 16:48

Just had a fairly brief storm in Manchester with heavy rain for a few mins. The temp dropped but its already very muggy again

DismantledKing · 18/06/2023 16:50

Rumbles of thunder here in South Warwickshire; a period of windy, heavy rain about an hour ago.
