Amber warning issued.
Please bump this and keep it bumped.

Large hail possible. Up to 4cm in diameter. If you are in the area, ensure you move indoors if storms arrive. You might want to protect delicate plants. This size hail, if it develops is enough to put dents into things and possibly to smash greenhouse windows.

If you experience large hail, please can you submit photographs with a ruler next to it.

Flash flooding is also very likely in places.

North bucks here, had a couple of hours of thunder and torrential rain. A fair few floods, trees down and buildings damaged.

Looks like it's going to by-pass us in west Oxfordshire, but we did have good thunderstorms on both Sat/Sun evening, plus torrential rain. I can also do without 4cm hailstones.

I’m just west of Oxford and we had unbelievable rain and thunder. No hail though. Seems to have passed.

PickAChew · 12/06/2023 19:29

The netweather radar looks like a very elaborate cross stitch over there <waves and points vaguely>, for the third day in a row!

Kissedbyfire1 · 12/06/2023 19:36

West Yorkshire checking in. Still hot and sunny, little wafts of breeze now and then but nothing to suggest an incoming storm.

flowergirl2020 · 12/06/2023 19:40

Wigan checking in. Thunderstorms and lightning. Just rain at the moment. Not as heavy as the other day either.

ListenLinda · 12/06/2023 19:45

@Kissedbyfire1 were we forecast any in West Yorkshire? I didn’t think we were due to get any of the storm, it looks like it’s going to pass by us. No rain due now until Monday.

JadziaSnax · 12/06/2023 19:46

Now cloudy over East Lancashire, no rain or thunder as yet.

Got a cracking thunderstorm going on here in SE London, been threatening all day. No hail.

Missed us in Brixton. We had a bit of rain at 2pm and 4pm, but only lasted a few minutes and no thunder.

Kissedbyfire1 · 12/06/2023 19:47

@ListenLinda I have no idea what was forecast as it seems to change on an hourly basis. Just wanted to join in and enjoy a storm, even if it is vicariously Grin. I thought we are due sun through to mid week next week?

ListenLinda · 12/06/2023 19:53

No idea @Kissedbyfire1 as you say it changes hourly! 😂

Shrimping · 12/06/2023 19:54

Rain and thunder just started near Southport in Lancashire.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 12/06/2023 19:59

Im jealous of the storms, its so hot and humid in my part of kent

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 12/06/2023 20:14

Well that was a nasty hour.
I'm not normally bothered by a "bit" of T&L, but that was something else Shock more an Electrical storm, the T&L was constant.
Even the bloody floor shook (and it's concrete).
The hailstones were about the size of a 1p.
The drain in front of the garage door overflowed.
Sweet Peas taken a battering.
Blackbird still chirped away all the way through ("Have you cleaned your teeth?")
It's still dark and raining, but I think it's headed off towards the Wirral now.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/06/2023 20:19

That sounds incredible Pussycat.

I've just driven from Leeds to the Fylde coast, got progressively cloudier as I came along the m62 and then went black as I came over the tops into Manchester and the lightning started. Torrential rain once I hit the m61 all the way to Rivington then it suddenly cleared and was bone dry. I've just had to stop at an Aldi 5 miles from home as it has hit again and it's completely impossible to drive, I'm hoping it passes quickly!

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 12/06/2023 20:23

Just looked at the Netweather radar @OhYouBadBadKitten
I hope the Orange colour isn't as bad as the White/Dk Red was earlier. Grin
I did have one jittery moment when the whole house shook. 😱

NoWordForFluffy · 12/06/2023 20:50

We've had a corker of a storm here, but it seems to have moved away, leaving the rain to carry on. Thankfully we didn't have it as bad as Puss!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/06/2023 20:50

Met Office adjusted the amber warning to cover the final couple of hours of the storms. Finishes at 10pm.

Just bumping again. We had about an hour of it but nothing serious - some thunder, lightning and a period of heavy rain. No hailstones here.

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/06/2023 20:53

NW coast, spectacular thunder, lightning and (much needed) heavy rain.
Enjoying it now, cosy inside with tea. Wasn’t quite so happy when the heavens opened as I walked 3 miles home at the end of my hitherto hot and steamy walk.

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 12/06/2023 20:54

@NoWordForFluffy How's DDog? The cats sat in the window watching the free "firework" display. 🤦‍♀️ They're not right, the pair of 'em. 🤪

Giselletheunicorn · 12/06/2023 20:54

Recommend the lightning tracker app if storm watching is your thing. Blackpool looks like it's getting a hammering currently. Hope the tower has lightning conductors...

He's fine. Acting up a bit, but not bothered. Good job as scared Labrador zoomies would destroy the house! 🙈🤣

justasking111 · 12/06/2023 20:56

The 👿 put up a barrier on the n Wales coast nowt within 20 miles of us. 😭

Piggywaspushed · 12/06/2023 21:06

We had 3 trees down, roads flooded , massive winds, and a temperature drop of 12 degrees!
